My husband's work brought in Ice cream sandwiches from this place and he said its the best Ice cream hes ever had, so of course he took all of us the next day to Ruby Jewel. Lol. Honestly it is the best Ice cream I've ever had. Amazing flavors. Kids loved it.

Very well maintained, the line was not too bad even if it was Valentines day. The staff members were kind, courteous, and quick! My lady and I ordered a flight to share. We each picked 3 flavors. She chose Oregon Strawberry, Caramelized Coffee, and Cookies and Cream. The Oregon Strawberry was decent but lacked that wow-factor, could be batch related, have had it before and was amazing. The Caramelized Coffee tasted like elite quality coffee was used in the making of said ice cream, did not get jitters after wards. The Cookies and Cream was cool and after the first taste, you new it was an original flavor profile different from big box ice cream manufacturers. For my three flavors I chose: Peanutbutter Crunch, Banana Toffee, and Honey Lavender. The PB crunch tasted like the ice cream version of Adams Brand peanut butter but was not too over powering neither in flavor nor sweetness. My favorite flavor of all was the Banana Toffee, it was perfection--it was as if freshly home baked banana bread comprised of the sweetest and over-ripest bananas was flash frozen only to melt in your mouth. Then bits of toffee revealed themselves and had enough crunch to satisfy a seasoned toffee connoisseur but not so jaw-breaking that perhaps the newest of foodies could also chew and enjoy! Then there was the scoop of Honey Lavender. At first glance, it looks basic and could be easily mistaken for Vanilla. However, as soon as the spoon contacts your mouth, you will be transported to your neighborhood local New Seasons Wellness aisle, where you are debating with naturopaths whether topical or orally ingested Arnica is more effective for treating the soreness from runners high. If morden day Portland was made into an ice cream flavor, this would be it. I got a kick out of it, but I wasn't inspired enough to purchase a pint. I still suggest everyone gives it a whirl so they can feel like they owe royalties to the Portlandia show.

We love Ruby Jewel - all locations. The Hawthorne shop has a few indoor seats and two outdoor tables. Garage windows. My all time favorite is their cookies and cream- the base is soaked in cookies and not just vanilla. It’s delicious. Seasonal flavors update, and we usually like most of them! They really promote their cookie sandwiches, but I’m content with a scoop or with a warm brownie sundae too. Sundae for $7- brownie, two ice cream scoops, whipped cream, cherry, sauce of choice, and a topping of choice. Try the peanut butter dream and the butterscotch! You won’t be disappointed.

Yo yo yo!!! Or maybe at this time of year it's Ho Ho Ho!! I am actually NOT a sweets person. I much prefer savory. However, since I received an opportunity to visit this brand I decided to give it a fair shot!! Walking in the signage is bright, colorful and inviting on the exterior. For a freaking cold night it was BUSY!!! I can only imagine the lines during the summer. BUT the line moved quickly. The team members were friendly, upbeat and ready to help guests! The signs make it clear the options and there are brownie sundaes and ice cream scoops you can choose.... it is even more clear, however that the Ruby Jewel ice cream sandwich is where IT is!!! So you chose a flavor from the long list of options of ice cream flavors. Then you choose a cookie flavor. Then you chose whether you want it dunked/dipped or not and whether you want some sprinkles. Essentially an awesome personalized ice cream sandwich!!! You can sample flavors and I recommend it. I tried the iced ginger bread (really has an authentic gingerbread man/cookie flavor), peppermint with chocolate (peppermint ice cream without candy canes crushed in but with a chocolate swirl), peanut butter dream (peanut butter ice cream base with peanut butter cups smashed in), and coffee with cookies & cream (basically what it says amazing coffee ice cream with cookies and cream mixed in). There were so many other flavors including two non dairy options. The cookies are more firm than soft and the ice cream scoop is essentially smashed between the two cookies. We had peppermint with chocolate between two double chocolate cookies and coffee with cookies & cream between two double chocolate cookies. Then I got a scoop of peanut butter dream on the side to take home! Ice cream sandwiches are $6 but when you spend $5.50 on a cup of coffee who will complain? I think single scoop was $4.25. Some reviews say it's too sweet... um it's ice cream duh! I will definitely be back and definitely tell others!!! You should check it out. I feel the flavors are better than Salt n Straw myself. I want to eventually try the test kitchen out for this place!!! Maybe next time!!!

The strawberry was nothing to write home about. The lavender honey was divine. My daughter loved her grasshopper ice cream. There was one girl working and hardly any customers when I was there. She wasn't very friendly, but maybe it wasn't her day. She wasn't mean just indifferent.

This ice cream was bomb af. I got the malted chocolate chip cookie and I’ve never had a better cookie flavored ice cream. My boyfriend got the nanaimo flavor and completely devoured it! I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in town.

Coming on a day that they gave out free root beer floats was a nice surprise and the serving size was perfect! On top of that I sampled the Honey Lavender which was delicious so I went with a single scoop half Honey Lavender and Carmelized Coffee. It may be a weird combination but nonetheless tasted delicious 😋 well done Ruby Jewel! And great impression for my first visit. There was absolutely no line!
