Probably the best Middle Eastern / Iraqi restaurant I’ve ever been to. Everything we ordered was delicious— the flavors were bold and rich, the meats were juicy and hearty. The restaurant itself is also spacious, elegant, and beautifully decorated with intricate wall art and a complementing color scheme. The service was warm and friendly, and I felt the prices were very reasonable for the food quality and portions. I tried the following items: - Baba Ganoush: SO delicious, with earthy flavors and textures. The pita was toasty and tasty too. - Iraqi Shish Kabob Plate: The meats were tender and juicy, and the sauces were delicious as well. Highly recommend it! - Shredded Lamb Rice Plate: The rice was delicious and flavorful, and the lamb was hearty and perfectly seasoned. The side chickpea stew might’ve been my favorite element… it was bursting with flavor. - Kunafah: This dessert was very rich and decadent; simultaneously sweet and savory, cheesy and gooey. I was a big fan. - Date Roll: The kunafeh was a lot better in my opinion, but this was still pretty good— very dense and sweet, but I probably wouldn’t get it again. - Someone also got the Mixed Dolma— I didn’t try it but heard good things. If I’m ever in Portland again, I’ll definitely be returning to this spot immediately! — Price (relative to peers): 4.5/5 Food: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 Service: 4.8/5 Overall Value: 4.8/5

My very good Iraqi friend took me here. He explained the depiction on the walls to me and all the stuff. I wish I had taken a picture of the blue walls depicting the gate. I had the shredded lamb and mint lemonade, and thought it was really good, and liked eating the chickpeas sauce with my rice. The hostess/waitress was very nice, and didn't mind us taking out time.

Experience authentic Mediterranean flavors enhanced by an Iraqi flair at DarSalam (the House of Peace). The decor transports you straight to the ancient city of Babylon, while the soothing melodies create a serene ambiance. Delight in expertly cooked dishes like the succulent lamb shanks, flavorful Khema, and perfectly spiced mixed grills. And to complete your culinary journey, indulge in their renowned Iraqi tea infused with cardamom.

Was very satisfied with my experience at DarSalam. What a gem. From the interior detailed decore to the absolutely amazing food. Was definitely one of my favorite restaurants in all Portland. I will make it a staple to go every time I visit this city. Also the staff is very polite and helpful and friendly. Five stars.

This is a great place for Middle-Eastern fare. They have a full bar and unique house cocktails. A large dining area. We made a reservation for a 7pm dinner but probably didn't need one, though the place was lively - just not 100% full. Food was spectacular. The beef kebabs were some of the best I've ever had. Can't recommend the food highly enough.

I had an exceptional dining experience at DarSalam restaurant. The lamb shank I ordered was cooked to perfection – tender and flavorful, with a rich eggplant stew that complemented it perfectly. The portion size was generous, and the prices were quite reasonable for the quality of food. For dessert, I indulged in their kenafah, and it was a delightful ending to the meal. The kenafah was wonderfully sweet and had that perfect balance of crispy and gooey textures. What truly stood out, besides the delicious food, was the impeccable service. The staff was attentive and friendly, making sure I had everything I needed throughout the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, with a cozy and authentic atmosphere that added to the overall experience. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu. Highly recommended!

I am in love with this place. Introduced to me by Eat Adventures, a taste tour I took even though I'm a local, this was my favorite stop. The lentil soup was absolutely divine, and I loved the lemonade too. I'm anxious to try more. Plus just being in the high-ceilinged room with the beautiful murals and antiques was a treat.

Great food great ambience and good service. Easily one of the best Mediterranean food ever. They have a small menu but every item I tried was great. We tried chicken kabob, vegan mezza platter and beet salad. Amazing skillful use of spices all dishes were delicious and balanced. But most importantly the sweets were also perfectly balanced and just the right amount of sweet. Oh I forgot the pita was also was the best.
