Pick the Pig, it's a squealing deal!(sorry) The bbq smoke seeps into every corner of this dining diamond. The ambiance subtly screams amazing bbq joint and the food echoes that. We ordered a variety of meats and sides and everything met the expectations you'd have, but the chicken thighs surprised us. They featured a crunchy bark with deep flavor and juicy interior and the Pig serves thighs with a Jalapeño Jelly with sweet spicy junks of jalapeños.

What a hidden gem of a place this was. The guys were so polite and you can tell they care about what they do and the community they serve. Food was insane and the vibe of the outdoor seating area was on point. Can't wait to go back.

So good. Stopped on the way to airport out and got two meat and side plate. Huge portions. Brisket is delicious. Sausage was good, little dry. Mac and cheese amazing. Best bbq in Portland.

I can understand why this very popular establishment has survived and thrived, spanning generations of real down-home BBQ lovers. Pork off the bone, ribs on the bone, chicken and lamb. Cole slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, sweet tea made right there. They even bake their own sandwich buns. I started choking when I saw the menu prices and stopped choking after the first bite. Seating space is limited and fills up quickly. Not a good place for conversation when crowded, but your mouth should be too busy eating to talk. The pork bbq on a bun had THICK sliced 'melts-in-your-mouth' tender meat. Seasoned, not spicy hot, not overpowering, keeping the spotlight shining on the pig. A balance rarely found these days. The staff are so welcoming & friendly, attentive and courteous. It makes a lot of sense why customers keep this place a well kept secret.

Texan first taste of Oregon BBQ. Had to start with the brisket sandwich. Good portions and tasted great. I also sampled the fried chicken sandwich. I will need to return and try more items. Their BBQ sauce is a lil sweet for me. So skipped that but some may prefer that.

Awesome, 2 thumbs up. Portions are big, great prices, well crafted flavors. The fried chicken was juicy and tender, great spice and breading, and not full of bones which just adds more value. The lamb was well cooked and flavorful. The fresh pork rinds are crispy. I had the porchetta sandwich which was tender, paired perfectly with the greens and dripping with deliciousness. The smokey flavor isn't overpowering but enhances all the dishes, what a treat

The smoked fried chicken was definitely the highlight! Brisket was on the dry side, and the barbeque sauce was... different (vinegary and heavily spiced with cumin, I think?). But the cornbread was good and came drizzled with honey, and the pepper jelly was pretty great. Service was quick and friendly, cocktail was well-made, and I can't say enough good things about that chicken!

We wanted authentic American food and that's what we got. It was really good and the meat was so tender. We could taste the experienced hands in our food. Definitely a must go in portland.

I may Not be the best to review bbq since I don’t always eat it everywhere I go. But with that said, THIS place really hits the spot! From the straight up 1970’s decor to the casual “eat on a tray” serving style, People’s Pig delivers a great experience! Pork shoulder was so tasty! The beans were the best though. Worth writing about by themselves. Slaw is very creamy but also a huge favorite. Do NOT miss the “smoked” Old Fashioned. Two thumbs up!!! I’ll be back!!
