We were in town for a pleasure trip and stumbled upon this place while strolling the streets for good food. Oh boy! Wasn't it one of the best Mexican food we've had to date. The salsa they served with chips told us the story ahead, right in the beginning. Every dish and every drink we ordered after was top notch. It's one of those hole in the wall places with amazing food and service. We'll be back whenever in town.

I found this place because I ran into one of the owners where I work. He was friendly and enthusiastic about his restaurant so I figured I would check it out because I love food and love checking out new places. It was a little hard for me to find because its tucked in next to Marys strip club and it does not look very much like a restaurant from the outside. Once I found it though I was greeted and taken care of right away. I met another owner while I was visiting named Rebecca and she was a delight to chat with and seemed to have a passion for the restaurant and their guest. I also learned that they make all the food on location with fresh ingredients daily. As for the food it was delicious! I personally would have liked my food to be more spicy but I am abnormal and like very spicy food. The average person would find the balance between flavor and heat very nice. The inside of this location has very limited seating but there is a tap house right across the street with 24+ beers on tap and Santeria's also serves there tasty food there as well! I enjoyed my visit very much and will be returning the next time I'm in the area. Pictures are of the front of the location and the tasty food I had.

Small, but good food. The only thing I didn’t like was the rice; it was either old or under cooked (rice shouldn’t be crunchy). The staff delivered excellent customer service!

The place itself is pretty small but overall the food was good and the waitress was very chill and nice. Me and my girl got the when pigs fly taco plate and I was not disappointed! The rice was a little plain tho.

Great place for hearty, juicy tacos. Open until 2am, it's one of the few taquerias open this late and one of the best in Portland. Good cocktails too!

Formerly Santeria - now The Alchemist. They kept the owner and chef of Santeria and still have some delicious food! The new vegetarian option, ginger soyrizo, in a burrito with purple and green mojito was delicious!
