Seriously, this place has the best onigiri around. The rice blend is incredible! Every time I'm about to head back to Seattle, I grab a few for the road. The last time I was there, the matcha bowl was a bit clumpy, but that isn't something that is typical at all. Highly recommend, very cute establishment with the nicest servers.

Stopped by here for a light lunch and tea while in the downtown area. They are a Japanese cafe primarily selling Japanese small bites and teas, but also sell Japanese arts, crafts, and household items to include small pieces of furniture.
The bites range from sandwiches, rice balls, tofu, soups, bagel, baguette, edamame, etc... The teas are the traditional Japanese teas, but also include the typical coffees. Service was very fast and friendly. Ordered some rice balls, small cake, and teas. Grabbed a seat and looked at the arts and crafts for sell on the wall.
Within 15 minutes everything was delivered to the table. In typical Japanese fashion, the presentation was perfect. The rice balls, cake, and teas looked exactly like the pictures in the menu. Food was very authentic and tasted great. Highly recommend this place if you want to come for some Japanese small bites and teas.

I went here with my partner via request from our Japanese language tutor. We're still new transplants to the city, so it sounded like fun to meet at a cafe. We were really pleasantly surprised by the cafe itself and the decor. The staff were all very friendly, the atmosphere was calm and filled with Japanese art, history, and snippets of culture.
The food was light and yummy. My spouse had some onigiri and I had a light sandwich. We had tea, had a lesson about Japanese (not a cafe provided service, by the way. We reached out to a local tutor who suggested the cafe as a place to meet), and plan on returning, soon!

Onigiri -salmon mayo and tea -hojicha were really delicious. The Chikara cake is not my style, like 90% nuts 10% marinated fruit sort of m like a solid fruitcake, but not bad by any means. Super cute antiques and handmade goods. Excellent ambiance, the place was super clean and the classical music was relaxing. Staff was fairly quick

Cute/tranquil little light-filled Japanese cafe with decent selection of teas and tea lattes. Best part is that they also have parfaits and soft serve. They also have some small snack/food and desserts (I.e onigiri, brownies, etc).
As the name implies, it is near the Portland art museum. This location has been around for many years and we've always been treated to friendly service. Good place to stop by after a stroll through the museum or downtown area. Can be a bit crowded so seats can be a bit hard to come by over the weekend.

Nice cafe with Japanese accent. Their menu is mostly Japanese food. They have many different types of tea both Japanese and English. Coffee is nice. It appears this is the only place in Portland who serves matcha and hojicha soft cones. This is a must try for me. They are so yummy. They also have onigiri, this was great. They also host pottery artist, and carries Japanese antiques. It is a fun place to be.

The Teriyaki Mushroom Onigire was excellent. However, the Ham and Egg sandwich was out of this world! It was put together with thin sliced ham, tomato, cucumber, all on a bed of egg salad, and between two slices of oat bread. It was the best I had ever had!

One of my favorite places to get some matcha and hojicha soft serve. The flavors and texture of the soft serve is perfect. It's a nice coffee shop that has light snacks to enjoy. The people here are friendly and quick to get the order out. The interior has a nice calm feel to it.

Great ambience and appropriate, plus clean interior space. Went along well with theme and connected to the museum in its displays and sales of trinkets and kimonos. Love the food. Delicious samples of traditional Japanese snacks from modern examples. I would highly recommend the ic ed, matcha latte. It comes with frozen green tea ice cream, pieces of dessert like a brownie and a cute umbrella on top.
I would highly recommend this place to a friend and would be one of the first places I would bring visitors to Portland to see and eat for lunch! Service is great and they test for covet immediately at the front door.
