Review Southpark Seafood - Portland

Justin Newgaard
Great date night if in downtown or in for business. Service was too notch, very friendly and quick. Oysters were great, had three types all from Washington, cioppino broth was very good and the halibut had an amazing crust on it. The broth in the halibut, lemon saffron made you want to lift the bowl up. I think our favorite part was you could order a half dessert, made adding that cranberry warm bread pudding that much easier! Washed it all down with a port wine and overall a great place to have a dinner. Hope you enjoy it as well.

We ordered beet salad which was delicious; the Manila clams were so fresh and nicely cooked. The grilled octopus was burned so was the paella. Overall the food was great except the overcooked part. Wine was great and chilled for the right temperature. However, We don’t like the mandatory 20% gratitude charge; nor the 3%+ credit card fee. The service person came to clear the dishes away when we haven’t quite finished yet.

It was such a great experience! My wife and I ate out at SouthPark for our 10-year anniversary. They were very knowledgeable and accommodating of my gluten and dairy allergies. The host was friendly and our server was excellent at checking in, giving space, and providing great service. The food was incredible! An absolutely delicious combination of flavors. It had a nice, fancy ambiance but didn't break the bank to eat there. I highly recommend this place!

A very classy restaurant. I ordered the clam chowder because it was advertised very well, but honestly, I wasn't impressed with that. I personally like the creamy one. The king salmon impressed with its perfect crispy skin, but oddly enough, it didn't have much taste in the salmon itself. However, the garnishing was very delicious. Additionally, the Garageland Pinot Noir was quite good.

So my fiance and I are from NJ and came to this area for work. I can’t tell you how many times we came to this restaurant during our stay and how often we talk about this place now that we’re home. We talk about going to Portland JUST to return to this establishment… If that doesn’t say enough idk what will. The clam chowder and fish and chips are to die for. We will forever compare every other clam chowder and fish and chips to this, and I guarantee it will never be beat! Everything is good every single time. Our favorite restaurant we’ve ever been to, ever.

The food was excellent. We enjoyed the crab roll, clam chowder, fish and chips, and oysters – all of which were delicious. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired, and I believe the mandatory 20% tip reflects the subpar service.

We went around 2pm and it wa quiet. Bartender was our server and did a wonderful job. Best clam chowder I’ve had in a long time and loved their house made bread. Ordered the grilled octopus which was delicious! Iced coffee was not bad at all.

Had the pleasure of dinning here last night before seeing the Oregon orchestra. The food was made to perfection and our waiter was a pleasure. Highly recommend the swordfish, it was cooked perfectly.

I recently dined at Southpark Seafood restaurant in Portland, Oregon, and I must say that the Cherry Almond Gateau Basque is a dessert that you simply cannot miss. This traditional French cake is made with a buttery almond crust, filled with cherry compote, and topped with whipped cream. The flavor was delightful, and the texture was perfect; it was moist and not too sweet. The Cherry Almond Gateau Basque is a standout item that I highly recommend. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the other food items at the restaurant. Although the seafood dishes were fresh and of good quality, they were not exceptional, and the prices were quite steep for what was offered. The sides were ordinary, and the appetizers were forgettable. Despite my mixed experience with the food, the ambiance of the restaurant was upscale and sophisticated, with a lively bar scene. The open kitchen added a touch of excitement to the dining experience, and the outdoor patio was a lovely spot for al fresco dining. In conclusion, while the Cherry Almond Gateau Basque is a must-try dessert, I would not recommend the restaurant solely for its other food items. However, if you're looking for an elegant and refined atmosphere for a special occasion, Southpark Seafood may be worth a visit.

Food was exceptional. Got appetizers of Manila clams, Petrale sole ceviche, Malaysian shrimp & grits to share along with the Fish and chips (one of the best I've had) and NW Cioppino. All were good and would order again but the highlight would be their Fish and Chips which was surprisingly good

We were there for dinner before a show downtown. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was a highlight. The Dungeoness crab roll was perfectly seasoned, with just the right light amount of mayonnaise. The clam chowder with gnocchi instead of potato was great. And the sea bass was wonderful. And beyond all of that, the service was incredibly fast. Highly recommend and will be going back.

King Salmon was wonderful. We were early birds and received great service. Good wine menu and interesting non-alcoholic drinks.

This was my first time and I'll be back. Great food and service. We always order brussel sprouts if they are on the menu and these were some of the best I've ever had. They are a little vinegary just a FYI but not too much. The bread pudding was kinda disappointing very small and too many flavors going on, won't order it again.

A nice place to enjoy a lunch meeting among colleagues. The place has a spacious feel to it. The restaurant specializes in many seafood items but also has items that are not seafood. I decried to have a burger. The burger was prepared perfectly at a medium level for me. Please make sure to add the bacon if you decide to get the burger. The service here was also pretty attentive.

Pretty good, nicely upscale seafood restaurant in Portland. The establishment looks great and the staff carries themselves with the air of an upscale joint. Bar is fully stocked and looks great too. Oysters were from Washington and there were three different kinds, a bit on the small side. They were very tasty and did not require any offered hot sauce. The Malaysian shrimp and grits were flavorful and had some heat to them, but was a small portion that I would expect during the happy hour with small shrimp. Overall a nice experience and I would recommend trying for yourself. 4.5 stars.

Be sure to check the menu before you go as the menu changes a lot. Disappointed in my crab salad. Lots of “farm greens” and 1/4 cup of crab pieces in creme freche. New age language on menu as I had to google tons of words. Just say Blood Orange dressing! Dessert was great....Meyer Lemon Cake with Raspberry Sorbet on top of a cup of almonds Very pricey

I always stop in before shows at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, SP has become my favorite seafood restaurant in Portland. A little spendy however, that's okay when you taste what's on offer. Excellent top shelf bar selections. great service, exceptional food, fresh menu, killer location...what more are you looking for? Great place to bring out of town friends to showcase Portland. Clam Chowder is the best in the nation.

The food was delicious. I was there for happy hour and had the beet salad, oyster trio, and shrimp/grits. Very generous portions, really enjoyed the food...however..., I was seated at the oyster bar and observed a cook snacking on shrimp and other items (x3) with his fingers in an area where he probably shouldn't be doing so. It was not like he was tasting for flavor either. Eat before you start work. I don't want you preparing my food after you just put something in your mouth.

Food and drinks were way below our standard of a good restaurant. The only saving grace was our server was really nice and when I couldn't it the crab, it tasted like it a salt bomb, totally ineatable, she noticed I wasn't eating it and offered me something else on the menu. She did a great job, but the bartender and the chefs in the kitchen really need to improve. Won't be back to this place.

Stopped in for happy hour! Great prices and good beer on tap!! The spicy shrimp and grits was delicious! My husband said the clam chowder was one of the best he’s had!!! Definitely recommend this place! We will be back!!’

Amazing! Amazing! We had the Dungeon Crab for two with amazing butter dip, Caramelized Brussels Sprouts, Salmon tar-tar, and an amazing Cesar salad. Best food I have ever had hands down. My hubby was just as impressed and he is a cook. We also had the goat cheese raspberry cheesecake. Was like heaven. Staff was very pleasant and very helpful to some out of towners. And even when we didn't have a reservation they still made room for us outside. Which was best because we liked watching the city as we ate. :)

I drive 2 hours to get here and it's worth it every time. The food is always delicious and there is something for everyone. I like that it's as local and seasonal as possible. Service is impeccable but not intrusive. Love that!

Had the best time, and best food! Highly recommend!

Great food, very nice and attentive service. Had a board, 3 kinds of baked oysters, a cup of their one-of-a-kind chowder, beet and Caesar salads, and the Dutch over fried chicken with peanuts (not burned this time, cooked perfectly). Dessert was an all-over-the-place melange of goat cheese cheescake with balsamic strawberry compote, strawberries, and salty almonds--it shouldn't have come together, but it did. Southpark rarely disappoints in any capacity.

Clam Chowder is the best I've ever had! Everything was delicious, start to finish. Desserts were great too. HIGHLY recommend this place.

Love the new decor! Food was incredibly tasty and the service was on point. I hate it when you go to a restaurant the the staff "hover" over you. They seemed to know exactly what we needed, when we needed it. Their selection of oysters is vast, but not overwhelming. Being from Hawai'i, l LOVE my seafood and Southpark Seafood nailed it. Thank you for a great dining experience!

We had the steamed clams and an order of brussell sprouts. Both were amazing! Our cocktails were a bit on the small side, which is why I didn't give them a 5 star.
Ashley Hossack Harada
Loved the seafood stew, oysters, bread, and service. Luke was a wonderful server and he made our experience amazing!

The restaurant side is a very nice place for dinner and the bar side is perfect for happy hour as well as appetizers and wine or cocktails.

Went in for a quick dozen oysters and a glass of wine and had a really great experience... staff was amazing!

Food was excellent, very delicious! We also had a couple of drinks - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic - and were also yummy! Heather was our server and she made our experience even more enjoyable. We definitely will be back next time my friends and I are in town.
