This place really met all the hype. I've heard so much about Ava Gene's over the years and am a regular at their next door pizza place, Cicoria. It's a very nice restaurant, great service staff, and the vibe is very relaxed. The pasta was so so delicious and we really enjoyed our sardine toast.

The wine selection is very good at Ava Genes, but you will pay for it. The food, wine and service were top notch. The lighting was too dark for my old eyes, but it did not seem to bother the younger folks in our party. A good place for a special dinner.

Beautiful interior and delicious food. Menu was a bit cryptic but wait staff was helpful. All the dishes we tried were amazing and so were the cocktails.

ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!!! We stopped in for my birthday dinner here and I was blown away by how awesome Ava Gene's is. The atmosphere is so wonderful, the staff were all so friendly and made our time here unforgettable ❤️.
Oh. My. Goodness! The food was top notch! Thank you Nico, our incredible server, for all of the recommendations and wine pairing this evening. 🤗 The line chef Jeff (hope I spelled his name correctly😅) was very friendly and shared some really interest information about how our food was prepped and cooked.
For antipasta, we began with the kanpachi, which just melted in our mouths! Sooo GOOD! Also, we had the arancini which was something I've never had before and look forward to ordering again! Another antipasta we enjoyed thoroughly was the smoked corn - highly recommend this right here! The blend of flavors just left me wanting to order a second of this dish!
For the primi, we had tagliolini, corn agnolotti, and the fusilli - have they won a James Beard award because their food deserves recognition! Nico perfectly paired my tagliolini with the Pietradolce wine. 😊
Dolce included espresso gelato with fudge swirl, canolli with house ricotta and pistachio, and apple torta Bella Donna which topped off the evening in the best of ways! Yum!
Big thanks for such a special night! HIGHLY recommend this restaurant any day! They have earned 5,000 stars 🌟 from me! 😄

I loved the restaurant. It was a perfect atmosphere for a dinner date. The food was well worth its price and the serving sizes for 3 courses were nice. The service was great and I am happy to have chosen to dine here.

The best restaurant in Portland. If you are fortunate enough to get a reservation, don't waste it. Starve for 24 hrs, wear "buffet pants," and order almost everything on the menu. You will NOT be disappointed. They have exquisite offerings with fresh local ingredients, from the appetizers to the desserts. Also, a VERY extensive wine list that will fit your budget and complement every bite! Bon Appetite!

Sat at the bar and ordered an amazing bottle of cidre from Normandy. Our server was impressed and treated us like royalty the rest of the time. Squid ink linguini was the true high point as were the salads. Great vibe for a posh dinner out in Portland.

If you are driving parking is difficult because there are many restaurants in the area and it's in a populated residential area. Reservations are highly recommend. The restaurant is tastefully decorated. Employees are very attentive and helpful. This is the best tasting food I've had in the Portland area. We definitely will be back.
