We found this place after chasing the sunset at Mt. Tabor. We had the Chipotle elk burger, which my partner thought was average. I had the Coconut snapper because I have allergies. I'm always happy when the kitchen can accommodate my allergies to gluten, egg and dairy. Service was attentive and they left us alone to enjoy our dinner once our food came. Decent atmosphere and decor.
Met a friend for lunch and tried the chicken salad with bacon. Very tasty, lots of chicken, bacon wasn’t as expected but it’s fine. Very generous portion. I really liked the julienned sugar snap peas, that was a very nice touch. I like the atmosphere but it’s especially loud. Lots of sharp surfaces to bounce voices.
Ordered the fry bread and the lamb burger (cooked medium). Both were very good. Tasty, quality food. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food came out pretty quickly. Love it. Will be back next time we're in town.
Added notes: the bathrooms were single stall unisex and clean. There was a small public lot next door making parking super easy. There are other shops nearby so you can walk around a bit after and even get dessert.
Observatory has been around quite a while and I've eaten here many times. Tonight I started with the caesar salad that was ok.. it needed a bit more dressing and never heard of red bell pepper in a caesar before, but it was ok. The BBQ wings were tasty, maybe a bit on the scrawny side but still tasty. Got the pork loin special they currently have I was happy with. The green beans that accompanied were cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes were pretty standard and there was two pork cutlets smothered in mushroom gravy... it was a lot of food and pork was good. Service was top notch as it always is here. Prices are on the high side for what it is.
One of my favorite places in Portland. Had a friend drive up from Albany jyst for lunch there! I definitely recommend the fish and chips(garlic fries are a must). The drinks are crafted and amazing. And the staff are long timers, not newbies they know their stuff! Please tip them well.
This is my favorite restaurant of all time. We’ve literally been there more than 100 times and it’s consistently amazing. They have the best fresh seafood, burgers, appetizers, cocktails, and more.
My favorite is the salmon. It’s perfection. I also love their lavender gin lemon drops. We’ve never had a bad meal and love going back.
After seeing all the beautiful waterfalls by the Columbia River Gorge, we headed to the Observatory for an early dinner/happy hour.
There are a lot of restaurants in this area but it was a great decision to pick the Observatory. Their cocktails tasted great especially their gin and tonic and long island iced tea. You have to try their fish tacos too! We had 4 orders of it! The chicken wings also tasted great.
It was not very busy when we arrived but people started coming in around 6pm. Our server was the sweetest and she gave us recos on what else to do in Portland.
Andrian was very nice. The atmosphere is fantastic. I like this place. Salad is great! B
The food and drinks are amazing. We started with fry bread (must have) and had the elk burger and Brie grilled cheese for our main course. The lavender creme brulee was delicately balanced in flavor. The meal was perfect in every way. Our first time here, we will be back!!!
We loved this place. Service, food, cocktails, ambience— all simply fantastic. We did not eat a single thing at The Observatory we didn’t like.
Prices are right on par for Portland, and the food quality is excellent for the money. In particular, the andouille mac and cheese and the tom kha cocktail were sublime. If you’re a lover of Thai food or spicy cocktails, I cannot recommend that one enough. The oregano fry bread was also delicious and affordable as an appetizer. If you’re in the neighborhood, this place is definitely worth a stop.
