Wow, I was really impressed with the green machine and would 100% return to get that again. The other rolls weren’t that impressive, and definitely on the higher side price-wise. My server had an attitude and, as a fellow server, I was a bit taken back with this but I am assuming she was just having a bad day…. The restaurant itself is also very beautiful. Side note, I do NOT recommend the avocado roll — most expensive avocado roll I’ve come across, and also the smallest (photo doesn’t even do it justice how tiny it was). It’s still a running joke with my friends and family to this day.
I've eaten sushi all over the country and this was the best I've had - bar none, on god, no cap, whatever the current vernacular. The sushi is based beyond belief. The owners truly understand the fish/flavor pairings like no other sushi establishment. The king salmon sashimi was mind-blowing as was just about everything we ordered. Matt was a terrific server and kept our glasses full and our wants at zero. Come, eat, and see that my words don't do Bamboo on 28th any real justice.
We stop at Bamboo every time we come to Portland! The vibe is great, upbeat; the service is good to great; but the food is hands down some of the most fresh sushi I've ever had. So good we dug in before snapping a pic! The Tuna Nigiri is a Must. Our first time visiting, it was the first raw I'd ever had; now it's a must have for the table! It's so smooth, like butter, yum.
The atmosphere was moody(in a good way), a server named Ryan was super helpful and quick. Food was amazing and delicious.
Best sushi this side of the river.
the sushi was the best we have had since Kauai, and we have been to Washington DC, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and south Florida. Simply awesome fish. We didn’t get into any of the fancy junk with avocado and cream cheese, but if you want great traditional sushi, this is the place. Derick our waiter was outstanding!
Bamboo is amazing, highly recommend. The tuna sashimi was wonderful and we just kept getting more until we couldn't eat another bite. The rolls are also fantastic. It's never hard to find something you can't get enough of here.
My dinner at Bamboo Sushi was absolutely one to remember, definitely the most authentic sushi experience I’ve had so far. I went with my brother, who pushed me to choose a few things outside of the typical rolls that I’ve had before. We ended up choosing a variety of Nigiri and Sashimi to curate our own Omakase experience.
Their Sashimi is prepared with YAKUMI; minimal and bright toppings to complement the flavor of each piece of fish. The fish itself was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the corresponding Yakumi enhanced the flavors and gave each fish a unique bit of texture. Each fish was brought as a small shared plate, and the entire dinner turned out to be such an experience.
I love Bamboo’s attention to detail as well as their emphasis on sustainably caught fish. Their dedication to quality is apparent and appreciated.
This was my 3rd time dining at this location and every time it just gets better. I added albacore to the Green Machine, highly recommend…it was so fresh and flavorful! The Rainbow roll is always a winner and the scallop nigiri was the perfect level of spicy.
After many failed experiences in the world of sushi in Portland, we finally found our spot in this gem of a place. Nigiri quality is best in town along with plenty of complex and exciting rolls - yes the green machine is a favorite for a reason, don't miss it! The cauliflower app was also one worth coming back for. All in all, great experience with a quite sidewalk table and great, friendly service. Also there was an ever revolving door of folks picking up take-out, so I know it's not just me that finds their food tasty. Thanks team Bamboo. So happy to have your level of quality and care in the city! 💗
Stopped in at Bamboo Sushi yesterday with my partner. We really enjoyed our visit. I remember commenting that the rainbow roll and shrimp tempura roll both had a flavor clarity I haven’t found elsewhere in Portland yet, and the ingredients seemed very fresh.
Also recommend the sucker punch mocktail if you enjoy extreme sour.
