Nice deli with a lot of food options and interesting products and knick-knacks. We weren't that hungry but wanted to pickup a few small items to bring with us to the park. We got a sandwich, some chicken tenders for our daughter, and some nice bottled drinks.
If you're headed for a romantic picnic, need to pickup some food for a potluck, or just want to pickup some decent food, this is a great place to go!
Wasn’t a huge fan of the fish tacos, I think that if they offered the fried fish they use for the fish n chips in the tacos they would knock it out of the park. The fish n chips were delish! The burger was really good, and the tenders with fries were good. The fries by themselves were tasty, want to give the garlic fries a go the next time we stop by. Will definitely be going back to try the Mac n cheese as well as a deli sandwich. The oatmeal raisin cookie was SO SO GOOD!
We didn’t try nearly enough of all the amazing food options, but we really enjoyed the tomato orange soup, and the mushroom soup. However the standout is the arancini balls, which they will heat for you if you are eating there. They will let you taste too, so don’t be shy about trying before you buy. Such great service!

Went there for a free fondue tasting. Had a few drinks. They have this amazing chocolate bar and so many different options it's ridiculous on food. Oh they're in the back baby they're in
Stopped to pick up a quick bite. My partner also wanted to look at the gift items, which were fun. I also got a Latte to go with my bake goods. All was delicious as I've found in the past. Also took home some soup. I recommend the Mama Leoni chicken soup. It's great.
Elephants Delicatessen is a unique combination of a deli, gift shop, and restaurant all in one. While the selection of food options is extensive and diverse, the prices for the pre-packaged items and gift shop products seem to be on the higher side.
The food itself is not bad, although the arugula bistro burger I had was a bit heavy on the cheese. The charcuterie board was a bit disappointing, as I ended up getting just 2 large pieces of cheese and 3 different meats for $15. My recommendation would be to go for a more varied selection if you want to get your money's worth.
Overall, the staff at Elephants Delicatessen is friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant. While the prices may be a bit steep, the unique combination of a deli, gift shop, and restaurant makes for an interesting and enjoyable experience.
Great place for foodies. The vibe is cozy and welcoming. You might be overwhelmed by the fact you have so many choice to make. There are salads, sandwiches, desserts, soup, and etc. pretty much everything. We chose bacon breakfast burritos and cinnamon twist which was yummy. You should try their hot sauce at the condiment section on the grill section for the burrito. I will definitely stop by next time.
I’ve been here many times. Each time I enjoy the great food. I had a fried calamari which was a tad bit over fried. It’s hard to get perfectly fried calamari. Anyway the shop is cute and so many different choices. They also carry a lot of prepackaged foods both their own and other’s. Some gift items sweets, etc. it is a fun shop to just visit too.
The most affordable lunch we have had in Portland since moving here in August, 2023. The pizza slices were HUGE, tasty and affordable. The canned beers were exceptionally priced. It was cheaper to purchase a tasty IPA than a bottle of water. Of top of that the delicatessen has character!! I say this is a must visit if you are visiting Portland and certainly a go to spot if you live here! Dr. B
There's so much variety to choose from being here. Parking wasn't difficult to find and the selection again, is SO vast.
I got their fish n chips and it was absolutely delightful. You either have great or bad fish n chips and this one was fantastic! Would come back when I'm in town again.
