Small little place that's always busy, they're popular! The food is wonderful. The buffet has unique dishes from south Indian cuisine like idly, Sambar, and lots of curries. They also have typical dishes like butter chicken, chicken Tikka, and naan. The desserts are also very good, always with gulab jamun and masala chai.
I always see people ordering alacarte dosa which looks amazing!! But I always get pulled in by the buffet first 😋.
This is my go-to Indian restaurant in Kalamazoo, and I recommend everyone to try it out!
This is absolutely the best Indian Cuisine I’ve ever had! I always get the Tandoori Chicken which is cooked in a clay oven. It is very tender and the spices give it a very delicious flavor! I also always get the cheese Naan I’ve never had such good Naan before and for what you pay you get a really good amount. The staff is very friendly! Even though I always get to go I know if I did a dine in experience it would be awesome. The restaurant is very welcoming and cleanly. 5 stars definitely if you want an authentic Indian Cuisine experience defiantly come here.
The food and service here is truly fantastic; authentic and delicious menu. I have the mangolorean shrimp curry most of the time and it’s fabulous, well-spiced. Their naan is also delicious as are many of their dishes and traditional teas and coffees. I love the food here and Hillside will always be my first pick for Indian cuisine in Portage and Kalamazoo!!
I have ordered delivery from here countless times, and I have never - not once - been disappointed! The food is always still hot when it arrives, the order is always correct, and it's always the most delicious meal I'll have in a while.
I can't say enough about how much I love Hillside, indian is absolutely my favorite type of food now ❤️

Hello readers. Being an Indian I always search for Indian cuisine wherever I go and recently I shifted to kalamazoo and found this restaurant.
If you looking for halal chicken,this is the right place.
Let's step onto our dishes , believe me I have tried and tasted half of the dishes provided/included in their menu but don't have pictures of all.
Gonna rate per dish according to my visits.
P.s they ask about ur spice level so mine is also medium spicy or if rate from 10 den it's 8
1) veg samosa (3.5/5) it's good and ok okish if you are a samosa fan
2) Veg hakka noodles (3.8/5) It's one of those dishes Wich I like from here. U will get the feeling of eating the same thing as if you are eating in india.
3) Bombay chicken biryani (4.2/5) - Hailing from mumbai I loved this as it's exactly the same which I have in my home city except for putting the egg. It's delicious and the chicken pieces are also fresh and tender, they do have great masalas to add on for this particular dish.
4) Fire masala dosa (4.5/5) - If you love too much spicy,this is suitable for you. Very spicy and awesome. This dish is only for spicy food lovers.
5) Chole bhature (5/5) (highly recommended) - if you love this dish ,it's the best over here. Not being a chole bhature fan but it feels like you eating in old gully of Chandni chowk from delhi
6) Dal makhani - (3.5/5) - Again one of the best dishes from main course which you can opt for. It's really tasty and with garlic naan it's just scrumptious.
7) Hariyali chicken (4/5) - if you a white meat chicken person,this is d best then. One of d main course which I would recommend to others.
8) chicken chettinadu - (5/5) before coming here I hadn't tasted this dish and a very highly recommended one from my side. Just awesome and delicious in taste.
One day I came for buffet also and all the items were grt in taste and buffet is only available on weekends
The service was prompt and the staff is friendly.
Overall it's good and must visit over here.

This restaurant is located in the back end, back side of a retail complex. It would be easy to miss, but don't! Though the atmosphere is nothing special, the food is excellent! I've had chicken and vegetarian dishes here and all were amazing!

We have been coming to this restaurant while different managements took over but the current management is the best. Food is great. We are from Pakistan and live not too far from Hillside restaurant. We dine in and take out food a lot and always enjoyed the food. After having such a great experience, I thought they deserve good reviews. I personally like their bhindi masala and veggie samos. Once we ordered carryout goat curry mild. For some reason it wasn’t mild enough for me. Thought it was delicious but my tongue was burning. Few days later, we placed another order for a different dish and I did complained how spicy was the goat curry in our last order, and they gave me a free sweet lassi as compensation. One other time, we were dining in and food came spicy and they gave us free GULAB jaman.
We are now so used to enjoying great food at this restaurant. Few weeks ago we happened to go to Chicago and had Indian food at a well known Indian restaurant but did not enjoyed their food as much we enjoy at Hillside Indian Cuisine. Thanks to the new owner and we hope that they will continue running this place for long time. I recommend highly hillside restaurant, love their food and will continue supporting local business.
Have been to Indian Cuisine many times over the years under different Managements.
The Food has always been good here. The Buffet(Pre-covid) used to be good although was on the pricier side compared to other buffets in and around the area.
Have done takeout's here few times lately because of the covid. The portion size is pretty good compared to other Indian Restaurants. The Preparation time of the food can be improved though as we had to wait quite a bit to get our food.
The owner Naveen always provides good customer service and has continued keeping all the food HALAL which we highly appreciate.

They have one of the best food in the states. It is strange that they are in a small town and not in big city. The food is amazing and tastes heavenly.
We tried quite a number of their items. All were super good and were at its best.
Boneless Chicken Biriyani - perfectly cooked traditionally through dum (slow cooking through steam)
Goat Biriyani - my favorite, perfectly cooked traditionally through dum (slow cooking through steam), the quality of the goat meat was extraordinarily tasty.
Mixed Kabab Grill - superb and the quantity is huge
Malabar Paratha - went very good with Goat Sukha
Goat Sukha - my favorite
Gulab Jamun - they gave this dessert as complementary
Seekh Lamb Kabob - very tasty
Chicken Pepper Fry - superb
Must try the Goat menu, they use the best goat meat and their procedure of marination keeps the meat very moist and tender. They make the biriyani traditionally through dum (slow cooking through steam), unlike other restaurants, that sell fried rice version of biriyani. If I get a chance, I will visit just for their food.
An authentic, delicious place for Indian cuisine! There are always at least a few people here and when the buffet is open, it is especially busy. I have always had great food there!
