Absolute must-see excursion for Kauai. If you are reading this and can go, DO IT. If you didn’t go while you had the chance, come back to Kauai for this. Educational, funny as hell (with Ron the tour guide), and tasty-yes you can eat some of the vegetation.

This was such a great tour! The views, trees, plants, and gardens are already remarkable and absolutely breathtaking but Ron makes this whole tour even more fun and enjoyable! He is very knowledgeable but also very funny, charismatic and outgoing. We had many laughs which was not expected going to a garden tour! This was a pleasant surprise. It was a great length tour too. Only thing missing was that we forgot to take bug spray and got bit up but that’s ok :) Thank you Ron for an exceptional tour!

Beautiful grounds, tour guide did a great job, wish the script for the guides was more honest about Allerton and Gregg's relationship. This is 2023 after all.

James was great. I know right what’s some 20 year olds and 30 year olds want to know about plants. But it’s super cool. Even in the rain. Also this is where they filmed some of the pirates of the Caribbean movie and Jurassic park where they discovered the raptor eggs!
James is super nice and chill. He volunteers 4x a month

I have been to this garden 7 times over the years. It's an "always" visit when in Kauai. You'll learn so much about the plants of Hawaii and be surprised what's not native. You'll find the trees filmed in Jurassic Park movies here. They have a few different types of tour options. Highly recommend this tour and the combination with McBride gardens.

Allerton Gardens was amazing! We came in late September so it wasn’t too hot. We absolutely loved our tour guide called Ron he is funny and enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the place. We did the The Best of Both words and we are coming back in the future for the dinner and sunset tour.

This tour was a great experience. We did the two gardens in one tour. Our tour guide Michael was fantastic. He modified the tour based on the interests of the group. The tour was not difficult physically but might be hard for anyone with mobility or balance issues. Definitely take the caution about shoes seriously. It can be very muddy and slippery in parts of the gardens. At one point we walked through an active cow pasture. Wear shoes that can be easily cleaned and definitely avoid any type of sandel. Also recommend hiking shoes rather than gym shoes.

We visited on our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. I don’t know how there isn’t more 5 star reviews! Our tour guide Ron throughout the Allerton by Fire was worth 5 stars alone! We were thoroughly entertained and amazed by the beauty that the gardens had to offer. The bento box dinner was extremely tasty with the fire and hula dances that were thrilling to match. Make sure to wear longer sleeves, cover most your legs, and bring some bug spray. I highly recommend spending time here - the ticket pricing goes straight back to the conservation of the gardens here. I wish I took more pictures but I was too enthralled with all that Allerton had to offer. We will be back for sure!

Definitely recommend booking a tour to visit these gardens! My mum and I did the Best of Both Worlds tour of both the McBride and Allerton gardens. The first portion is a shuttle tour through the McBride garden, and the second half you get to walk through the Allerton garden. I really enjoyed both aspects of the tour, it was super informative and educational, and it really makes you appreciate all the incredibly hard work that goes into conservation of plant species. You also get to see where some of the various Jurassic park scenes were filmed, which is fun too! All in all, really glad we did this and recommend to anyone visiting Kauai :)
Also definitely bring bug spray ;)

We absolutely love this place! We've done the Allerton tour twice now. It was money well spent both times... and we'll be back again. The gardens are beautiful, the guides are knowledgeable and friendly and the memories last a lifetime. It's so cool seeing the trees from the, "life finds a way" scene in Jurassic Park!
