Not only the best Greek food in Dallas, but some of the most delicious food I have ever eaten anywhere. Great service, too. My family and I have been big fans of Dimitri's culinary skills for over 30 years. Fantastic appetizers - hummus, tzaziki, saganaki, salad. The souvlaki is to die for - so tender and served with the most delicious green beans and lemony potatoes. Don't miss whatever fresh fish is on special. The snapper is melt-in-your mouth perfect. My brother always orders their grilled lamb chops. And be sure to end the meal with some homemade desserts. Trust me, you will love anything on the menu.
We have been going to Kostas for 23 yrs and it has now become a family tradition to bring all visitors there for a meal during their stay and I am no exception. The food is always amazing and Dimitri and Chewy are like family to my family. Thank you for 23 wonderful years of providing a little piece of Greece right here in Dallas
My family's favorite restaurant in Dallas for over 25 years. Consistently wonderful food - and service. Best grilled meat and seafood in town - seriously. The sauces are subtle and delicious. Portion sizes are just right - perhaps leaving you just enough room for a bite of their amazing homemade desserts.
Went there last night (saturday) as was driving by way home being out all day and looked like a nice little place to eat. We were greeted warmly at the door by what I think was the owner, even though we had a small child with us. The place was not busy but had a few couples and one table with 8 so it was peaceful and during hectic holidays...its nice. Interiod very nice they even lit a candle on the table.
So the food...was awesome. Ordered the saganaki and they flamed it at the table which my son really liled and he ate like half of one the fried cheeses lol. Hes picky so him liking it means really good. Slight taste of the le.on they squeeze on it was perfect. Ordered the kiddo the chicken strips with fries, basic but good for him. Thhey did come out nice and hot and crispy.
My husband ordered the steak with scampi. Each entree comes with soup or salad and bread too. Hubby got the salad he ate all of it. His steak came perfectly cooked as we asked it. For a strip steak was surprisingly tender. The scampi was the star his meal though. Large tail on shrimp with gorgeous grill marks and this delicious citrusy garlicky buttery sauce basted on them. Im getting the scampi next time lol.
I had the mousaka with the avgolemono soup. Some of the best greek lemon soup ive had. Creamy and thick with a bit of rice in it. Not too lemony...and not too salty as some places go overboard the lemon and salt in the soup. The mousaka was great...thick layer of eggplant and beef mixture seasoned well and topped with a lovely layer of cream sauce bakdd to a lovely golden brown. Both mine and my husbands dinners come with spicy seasoned green beans (the flat italian style green beans) and greek potatoes. I really like the green beans the potatoes were ok. The bread was really good a thick french bread that had been baked so toasty outside.
The service from Mike was awesome. He was great at keeping us happy and didnt mind at all the kiddo (who was well behaved tyvm). Even gave us extra bread take home and a baklava.
Overall an awesome dinner and will be back.
This is my first Greek experience and since I first started coming here half a year ago the quality is always high, price is decent, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. The owner Dimitre is always welcoming, as are the rest of the staff. Highly recommend them! They also do catering!
I went to Kosta's Cafe for a late lunch with some friends while I was visiting. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived, but began filling up over the course of our meal. The lighting was dim and the atmosphere was nice and quiet - I suppose you could say muted. Service was surprisingly prompt - my glass never wanted for refills and the food was served without the waiting time I'm accustomed to at these nicer dine-in restaurants.
We ordered the tzatziki as an appetizer. I'd never ordered tzatziki by itself before, so I don't have any other context, but the sauce had a very light flavor with a thick, creamy texture. However, the fresh, warm pita bread was what made the appetizer. It was excellent.
I ordered the Gyro Plate with an avgolemono soup as my entree. The soup was was served with a line of rice in the middle, and it had that slight hint of lemon. The taste was somewhat alien to me, but I didn't find it bad. The gyro itself was very good. It came with a pile of onions and some tzatziki to place on a rather large bed of gyro meat. The pita, like in the appetizer, was very warm and soft. I've had gyros before, and this one was just as good as the rest - it didn't stand out, but it was by no means an unexceptional meal. The Gyro Plate also came with potatoes and green beans, which were decent. They're flavorful, but nothing to note, except that the potatoes are doused in oil, which was a bit strange for me.
I did try a bit of my friend's Chicken Souvlaki, and the chicken was tender with a nice slight char to the outside. The menu was a bit on the pricier side, but I was happy with my experience.
I'm sure all the serious greek food lovers are insulted when I say this but I come here for the gyros. Did venture to a greek sampler plate one night and it was really good too. Very friendly staff that helps make your visit enjoyable.
