Good quality sushi, if a bit overpriced for what you get. Definitely still the best bang for the buck in Placerville, though. The Family Meals can be a good option for quantity, but only include a generic assortment of rolls that you cannot customize, so go a-la-cart if you have particular interests 👍 Service and wait times are all pretty average but we were glad for the Take Out option during Covid.

If you are near Placerville and longing for sushi, then Amerikan Ichi is a must. Try my favorites, the Tom and the Macho. Tell them I sent you.. it won't get either of us anything special and they won't know what you are talking about, but I'll laugh thinking about it. Edit: Still amazing. I have more recommendations. I would now say my favorites in order are: Tom, Fajita, Lobster, and Macho.

Extremely disappointing considering I have been coming here since I had such a wonderful experience and it has been increasingly worse and worse. Both in food quality, and in service. After being told it would take 1hr 20minutes to receive my food (Fried rice, 4 rolls, 4 sides spicy mayo), I was given a bag with ONLY THE FRIED RICE IN IT after I paid for everything. When I mentioned this, they had to double check the receipt and acted confused. Then, after realizing their mistake, they added on an additional 30 minutes due to them forgetting. When asked after 25 minutes of waiting if it was ready, the Chef decided to be excessively abrasive and snarky saying, "Did I not say 30 minutes?" As if he isn't the reason for the holdup in the first place. Of course, they did not include the spicy mayo. If only the sushi quality could be a saving grace. ADDITIONALLY! I have been to American Ichi 3 times in the last 2 weeks alone and I can admit that all 3 times have been terrible. I don't understand what exactly is going on, but for now sushi in Folsom or El Dorado! Maybe it's best for the restaurant to hire more staff so the overworked, exhausted, and unprofessional current workers can take a few days off and rest.

Such a bad experience today. Called in an order at noon. Was told 20 ton25 minutes. Showed up at 1230 and was told 10-15 minutes but waited 30. Called at noon order not ready till 1. The bento box was ready first at sat in a box for 30 minutes getting soggy. When I got back to eat it the tempura was ruined. They almost forgot my soup. I had to remind them. Overall it was awful and I don't think I'll be back.
