Excellent pizza and reasonable price. They even called to confirm a special request. Support local/small Dormont businesses versus the large chains!
This Hidden Gem is absolutely delightful from the delicious pizza to the welcoming owner. Their pizza surpasses the majority of Pittsburgh's pizza spots. The owner was very hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed. Will be coming back soon.
I’ve ordered a few times now, and it’s always been good and pretty fast. My last order was for zucchini sticks and wings. They called me to let me know they were out of zucchini sticks, and were so apologetic. They told me they’d trade it out for something else for free if I wanted. I asked for a kid’s pizza with spinach because I didn’t want to be rude, and I wanted to choose something of the same price. They didn’t not give me a kid’s pizza. They gave me a small pizza. It was so much more than I expected. Also, they are one of the few places that doesn’t use canned spinach! Every other place in the area uses canned, which is so gross. There are so many option for pizza in Dormont, and they are my go to. They have great prices, great food, courteous service, and they are generous with things likes side of ranch for wings. My husband loved his wings, by the way. This is just my opinion, but they have the only good pizza in Dormont. Other places used to be good until ownership changed, so I’m so glad Chip and Rocks popped up to bring good pizza back to Dormont!
Nailed it.
UPDATED ON 1/18/2022:
Chip N' Rocks takes over where Vincenzo's operated previously. The place looks much nicer now, with a real Pittsburgh "sports dive" atmosphere. Being a Pens fan, I love it. But what I really loved was the pizza.
I ordered a medium cheese & pep, which came in at the expected premium. But it was worth every penny. Even before I dug in, the pizza just plain LOOKS better with the extra seasoning on it. A great signature move. And the ingredients are perfectly balanced. No minimal sauce like the previous place, nor do they overdo anything (which for me, too much is almost as disappointing as too little).
[Prior to today's update, I had run into a problem with my first pie that reminded me of Vincenzo's (slightly undercooked center). This has been rectified. I'm now getting the soft, satisfying rip of fully-cooked dough throughout the pie, within and without.]
If you're tired of overdone, underdone or just plain boring, Chip N' Rocks comes out of the gate in an upscale and rewarding fashion.
WOW! We FINALLY found a good pizza place in the burgh. Even their standard cheese is absolutely delicious. Perfect crust, great flavor. Timely delivery, too!
Yes, hi hello, I love you. My order consisted of a small traditional cheese pizza with Vincenzo's special tomato sauce (YUM) and chicken tenders where I asked for the homemade BBQ sauce and blue cheese dressings on the side. Vincenzo's truly delivered! Yes, I ordered all of that for myself, and it was plenty for me to have leftovers for the next day. I'll definitely be ordering from Vincenzo's again.
Our favorite pizza in Pittsburgh!! We've ordered from them 7+ times. Their pizza is phenomenal! Aesthetic af with perfect sauce:cheese:crust ratios. The cheese is noticably high quality, and the crust reminds me of garlic bread. I normally don't eat crust but Chip N'Rocks' crust is delightful and worthwhile because it has a wonderfully buttery flavor and pleasingly fluffy texture, not chewy or overcooked. Perfection. The service is excellent and the pricing is fair, with regular deals available. Thanks for bringing your amazing pizza to Dormont!!!
Edit (July '23):
Y'all are still FIRE!!! We got a pepperoni & mushroom pizza w/red sauce & some ranch on the side, and oh my gourd, it was phenomenal. The cheese is artisanal, and the ranch so magical. The crust is also still wayyyy too good! One time we got loaded buffalo fries and they were unforgettably delightful, like very good sauce. Wow, just the best, thank you so much for coming to Dormont, I hope others discover Chip'n'Rocks/Dormont Diner Pizza & Chicken as their new pizza favorite.
EDIT: owners contacted me and were upset that I had a bad experience. They were out of town and the guys working there were temporary and probably just didn't care. They gave me a full refund. I'll be returning for business
Not gonna rate one star because I've had good experiences here before. But tonight's experience was not good at all. I placed a pick up order and they said it would be done in 15 minutes. My gf and I waited 15 minutes before we left. When we got there the two guys on staff pretended like we weren't even there and it took them 15 minutes to even acknowledge our existence. Once they felt doing their jobs, they brought our pizza that had been sitting on the rack for almost a half hour. Then after they FINALLY brought out the pizza, they proceeded to take over 5 more minutes on a phone call order and not cash out. After the one guy finished the phone order, he walked away from us again. This guy never said a single word to me. Then the other guy who felt like muttering maybe a sentence at me finally charged me for the pizza and we were on our way. It should not have taken 40 minutes a pick up and they could have at least said hello when walked in. Then after that, they gave us bread sticks that look this. I don't think this place has bad food, but these guys clearly did not want to be there, and lacked all focus. Disappointed in this order from a place usually like
Best new pizza I’ve had in a long time. Definitely is a must try!
Being from Buffalo NY, we are a bit picky about pizza out of town. This was fantastic!!! Nice crust and bubbles on the crust. Win win. Highly recommend.
