Review Mola - Pittsburgh

This is a good Asian restaurant. We make reservation in advance and easy got table for 6 people. The owner, very kind women, works along the other workers. The food was delicious and service is fast. We only have some misunderstood with soup, cause we ordered three, but they brought two. We said that we are waiting for one more and they brought two more)). The place is clean, WC is clean too. Good music.

Mola is divine, but it’s nearly impossible to get seated on the weekend without a reservation. The chef flies in fish fresh daily! Incredibly fresh fish selection in Pittsburgh and unique, tasty sushi.

The best Omakase sushi experience I have had in Pittsburgh. The service was excellent, Rob made us feel very welcome, the food was delicious and each course of the 3-hour Omikase meal was well prepared with nicely-balanced flavors. The best part about the Omikase experience was that they overdelivered on expectations and provided us with 16 courses of sushi and Japanese A5 Wagyu Beef. You set your price (we set $150 per person) and it was equal food quality to restaurants I've paid double that price for in other cities like New York and Las Vegas. It is nice to know that a high-end Omakase experience is available in Pittsburgh and I will certainly be bringing friends back for special occasions. Our favorite foods were the Seared Salmon Belly, Kamatoro (melted in your mouth), and the A5 Wagyu Beef with Truffle Sliders. I also learned about Shiso Leaf and it was quite amazing. Highly recommend spending the money if you are looking for one of the highest end sushi experiences in Pittsburgh.

Ordered the sushi lite set along with a crispy tuna roll. The sushi was very good and loved the crisps on the roll and the spiciness it had. The California roll was also very fresh along with the rest of the fish pieces given. Would love to try more on their menu.

I've had their sushi several times already, and Mola is definitely my favorite in Pittsburgh. Do yourself a favor and stop by here if you're looking to get great tasting (and in my opinion, nice larger cuts) of sushi. Start off your meal with some pork belly bao and/or spicy edamame, and end it with some mochi. You won't regret it!

Superb sushi! Though somewhat pricey, we just couldn't stop ourselves from ordering more and more sashimi and rolls and bahn and yummy deserts. The best I've had in Pittsburgh. And the service and atmosphere were excellent.

Excellent food and service. The server was extremely nice and helpful. We tried a variety of sushi and it was all very tasty and reasonably priced for the high quality. Menu has a lot of interesting and varied options. Great place for Japanese food in general. Will 100% go again.

Wow!! As someone who has lived in Japan and currently lives on the coast I was hesitant about getting sushi in Pittsburgh. I'm glad to say I was proven completely wrong. This was some of the best sushi I have had in years. Look no further - going to any other sushi restaurant in the city would be a waste of your time. Great service and amazing sushi. Bravo!!

My partner and I basically tried one of everything and it's all so good! it's small on the inside so keep this in mind if you choose to go during a busy time. the sushi is fresh and delicious and HUGE! the service was wonderful and staff was completely prepared and attentive to allergies.

Well serves it's purpose. Nice and clean, friendly wait staff without hovering, tasty Asian food. Would return in the near future. On the main strip in East Liberty, convenient to the bus route. Showed sports on the TV for all customers to watch. Relatively small dining area, but I didn't see anyone who had to wait for a table. Varied seating, 2-6 diners per table.

1st time experience and won’t be the last! The best quality sushi! Our waitress was very attentive and help us navigate around the menu because we were newbies!

Mola is truly a gem in Pittsburgh. I consider it a top 5 restaurant in this city, and it’s family run! You honestly will not get fresher, better quality fish for price. After speaking with the owner and chef Alex, I learned that the fish is sourced and shipped directly from Japan - I’m not surprised! Through the many times I’ve visited, I find they often have hard to find, seasonal fish on their menu - just check out their instagram or their blackboard for what’s in season or available at the moment. The way they handle their rice is different from what you’d normally see at other restaurants too! You might think that it’s brown rice because of the colour, but if memory serves right, the rice was actually prepared by soaking in red vinegar to give it that delightful, delicate complementary flavour to their fish. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, and I am saying this as someone who has lived in Japan (and currently lives in NYC). Mola is spectacular and I hope they open more locations!!

Every time my wife and I go here we have a magnificent time! The servers are super friendly, well informed about the menu, and attentive. The food is absolutely scrumptious! If you love sushi/sashimi, then you need to go here!

best restaurant in Pittsburgh! All super fresh fish flown in straight from Japan that you can’t find anywhere else in Pittsburgh and great service. Their Hokkaido uni is out of this world, and be sure try their different bluefin toros (chutoro, kamatoro). You can find all high end, quality sushi here from king salmon to A5 wagyu beef. Also, don’t miss out on their variety of appetizers (I love their hamachi kama which is grilled yellowtail color. It’s fatty and flavorful and is hard to find at many restaurants). Mola gives even top sushi restaurants in New York City a run for their money.

Good sushi and fair prices. I love that they have a big menu and they accept changing the dishes according to your needs (allergies, preferences). It gets packed easily because the place is small so make sure to have a reservation. Try the desserts!

The chirashi bowl comes with a large portion and the sashimi on top were fresh and delicious. They also got really good mochi.

This place is EXCELLENT, super fresh sushi, very creative fusion, lots of authentic options. Twice in one week and recommending everywhere I go. Pork and chive dumplings are slap-your-granny’s-hand-away good!!!!! The highest metric for food. Beyond 10/10, 10,000% will be returning. WATERMELON JUNGLE JUICE is DEADLY GOOD. It is soooo fresh. Sirloin steak bao YUM. Salmon skin maki roll YUM. Spicy tuna poke bowl with Mola rice YUM. New fav sushi bar!

Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. I've never had a dish that I didn't enjoy, service is amazing, and I always feel special every time I'm there. When I walk in, there's several people (including one of the owners) who always make sure to greet me by name. The poke bowls are fantastic, and I highly recommend the sweet miso salmon bowl. It was the first thing I ever had there, and it's still my fav. 😁
