OK, I'm over it. I had been going to Jose and Tony's since 1970, and I was really put out when they changed the menu. I decided to give it a try after a couple months, and it's GREAT! The food is fresh and tastes good. I had the fish burrito on a dare and it was great - crunchy fish with a tasty sauce that works well with the cabbage. My girlfriend had the veggie burrito, which she shared with me. Also very fresh and tasty. It was a new experience and a pleasant surprise.
They took my email seriously and now offer the "Classic Jose", which is the Little Jose except that they use their regular rice instead of "Spanish rice". It's not on the menu; you have to ask for it. It's a nice throw-back, and tastes better than ever. Long time J&T customers will love it.
I also mentioned a while back in another email that the cheese enchiladas didn't have onions in them like on the old menu; last week when I was there for my Classic Jose, the enchiladas had onions in them! This is like a whole new restaurant for an old J&T customer. I will be back - often!
Come on back. I left Jose & Tony's a while back. I didn't feel it was keeping up with the food or atmosphere. Wow. They changed the menu to more Spanish cuisine. The Jose & Tony's burrito was awesome. The manager was courteous and the workers did their jobs. IF you haven't been there for a while, like me, give it another shot. The food, service and prices were spot on. Go there and enjoy the new improvements.
All New Menu. I actually work at Jose & Tony's and completely understand some of the negative reactions we have had. The food was decent at a very fair price, but we have made a huge change. We have a while NEW menu. The food is now much more of an authentic Mexican. We have a new chef who is preparing everything homemade from scratch. We now have Carnitas, Asada, Shrimp, Chorizo, new Chicken and Beef. Very fresh very delicious. Please come in and give us a try. The drink specials are still here and so are the wings. Hope to see you soon.
The California burrito is the best wet burrito I've found in the area. This is a staple in bars back home and I am always on the lookout for a local option. My husband says the wings are pretty good too. The margaritas are decent and they currently have Southern Tier's Pumpking available... I'm totally satisfied.
Try the chili if you like spicy. It's not Taco Bell stuff! That could explain some of the bad reviews. Easily an 8 out of 10. It ha only gotten better than when I lived here 30 years ago. Great to be back.
A bar that creates an environment that feels like home. Great staff, great wings/ food and great times.
My favorite wings and favorite bar in Pittsburgh!
Great wings and staff. I have been going to Jose and Tony's for about 3.5 years now. The wings are some of the best in the 'burgh. I also enjoy the beef tacos and the burritos and the prices are cheap! Additionally, the staff is awesome.
Great Place for Wings!. I've been going to Jose and Tony's for about 6 months now. They have excellent wings. Nice variety of flavors. Nice atmosphere too. They have recently upgraded the decor. And the bartenders are great! Very friendly. I love going on Mondays for the wing special.
I luv wings. I've tried many a wing in the area and my wife and I love their wings.
They are larger than most place and are always served nice and hot... and I can get them well done for that extra crispy texture we like.
Good prices, friendly staff average Mexican food. Order when you first walk in, then sit down. FYI if you are tipping with a card you'll need to figure out how much to tip in the beginning.
I've been eating here since high school (1980s) and it is still fantastic. Great, authentic Mexican food. Well cooked and always flavorful without having gratuitous heat to it. Large portions and fresh food. I have never had a bad meal here. It is super casual, with a sports bar vibe to half of the place, but the appearance has nothing to do with how good the food is. I also like the counter service. The staff is always willing to explain the options and will take tomatoes off or hold the sour cream, etc. Never have bad attitude. Such a pleasure to recommend this institution. It is very much worth the visit.
I visited while on a business trip. I had the carnitas tacos at the suggestion of the bartender and they were pretty good. Very filling. Their special was wings, which I found odd for a Mexican Restaurant. I didn't try them but the did look food. Bartender had a great personality and I could tell was loved by the regulars. The setup was a little weird and as a 1st time visitor I was confused as to whether to order at a window they had or whether I could order at the bar. The bartender told me they did not have table service but I could work through her or at the window. Good food, weird setup, awesome bartender.

This is by far my favourite hang out spot in Pittsburgh. The staff is attentive and personable; all around amazing. During my time in Steel City, I had the absolute pleasure of getting to know a few of the bartenders. Both Stephs (there are 2) and Kasey are beyond sweet and will make EVERY visit worthwhile. Great friends, great food, great drinks...what more could you ask for!!! Definitely check this place out or you're not getting the full experience that this city has to offer.
Great fresh Mexican food, I work here so I can attest to the fact that everything is made from scratch and fresh daily. Shawn the owner and my boss is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Treats customers with kindness and respect and his employees the same. Overall great place to eat and work!
Walked over after throwing axes at Lumberjaxes down the road. Got the shredded chicken burrito. I thought it was good. Didn't know what to expect, but it surpassed my expectations. The meat was moist and juicy, the beans and sauce were tasty. It's a small place, but we had fun in the little bar area.
Get the California Burrito Deluxe. It is incredible! The only problem is, it is so good I may eat it every time I go here now.
I tried their chips & salsa on a previous trip. Not very exciting. Won't get them again. I think a Mex place should make their own salsa fresh. This seemed like jarred.
Tacos are pretty good. Other burritos are too.
TVs are plentiful.
Good value.
What! Tacos y Tequila!!! 1 dollar tacos on taco Tuesday, accompanied by 3 buck margaritas?! Such a steal. Good quality tacos, great drinks, and the staff doesn't make you feel like you need to leave after you finish your food. This will definitely be a staple for my Tuesday taco craving
Having a graving for a top of the line burrito. I searched all the Mexican restaurant menus in the city. All but one had rice and black beans on them.
Except Jose's & Tony's.
To our surprise we found the food's ingredients to be some of the best I've ever had. After learning the chief and menu are new and being really impressed. Please try it or try it again!!!
If you want a fancy gourmet Mexican meal then go somewhere else. If you are like me and prefer a cozy place to have a cold one and some legit Mexican food this could be your place. It's reasonably priced, very fast, and plenty tasty. Rock solid joint.
