This is a must if you’re in Pittsburgh and want a pan style pizza. The place is unique to say. The least. It’s a hole in the wall but don’t let that fool you. They make amazing pizza and have been in business for 70 years or so for a reason. The pizza is amazing.

The crust is light, crunchy and there's nothing like it here in Michigan. The pizza is always delicious, especially great if you take-and-bake so it doesn't get cold. Crisp, delicious pizza with great toppings and the family and staff has treated us well. Hands-down my favorite pizza ever!

Amato's is awesome! Their sandwiches are second to none. I especially like their meatball and cheese sub and their hot sausage. This little place has been around since 1957 I think, possibly even '54 and in the 80's there were even a few "franchised" Amato's in a few suburbs of the Burgh. I guess since then the age of the internet has killed the small local businesses such as Amato's. However, there is one neighborhood that still LOVES Amato's food! Etna is the home of the original Amato's. I wouldn't even know about Etna or where it is if it weren't for Amato's. As a teenager in the 80's I even worked at one of the franchises and one thing I know for sure...These folks are passionate about what they do, proud of their history, and want nothing more than to carry on serving the folks of Etna and surrounding neighborhoods with the best sandwiches and the greatest pizza that they can make. I, personally, will be eating Amato's food til the day I die. I live in Penn Hills which is about 25 minutes away from the shop, but I choose Amato's over a local shop and the big chains just because it's THAT darn good.

Very good pizza, Perfect amount of cheese and sauce, It has no crust, And it isn't full of salt. I haven't tried their other stuff but I bet it is just as good, Only downside is cash only.

I got a small kitchen sink pizza which is equivalent to the works at other places and I was pleasantly surprised! It was square with crust that had the perfect amount of crisp to it and I felt good after eating. No heartburn

Great pizza and subs. You can order by the slice. Has been a part of the community forever. Cash only but offers great lunch specials! You can even order a pizza that isn't cooked so that you can make it at home!

The LAST TIME that We had an AMATO'S Pizza was more than 20 Years ago, But what's funny is that their Pizza is still as GOOD NOW as it was THEN. There are SO MANY Pizza Places IN & AROUND SHALER Township that trying to choose that ONE, Can be a TOUGH CHOICE. But, My Wife & I decided to go back to "AMATO'S SANDWICH SHOPS" in ETNA & We WEREN'T Disappointed at all. They HAVEN'T changed their DELICIOUS HOMEMADE Crust & Pizza Sauce since they OPENED their doors Years Ago. The OWNER'S Deliver a TASTY PRODUCT & that 1st Bite WON'T be Your Last Bite. The ONLY PROBLEM is trying to DECIDE on what YOU want to order after You look at AMATO'S MENU.

Sorry to hear that they will be closing down because of the owner passing away. They have the best sicilian white pizza which I always get with tomato.I will definitely miss this place.

Best square pie in town. Local favorite pizza place.. Their 16 cut square pizza is delightful. Thicker but light square crust. Family loves it and been eating in since we were kids.

Amatos is awesome. Just as it has been since I went there as a kid 35 years ago. It is a thicker crust but super light. Not much for eating in, I think it is all carry out, but it is definitely worth the trip.

Best pizza ever. I remember my parents taking me to Amato's pizza when I was young, it is the best pizza I've ever had and now at 55 yrs I will return to get the great pizza this summer. My mother is Rose Amato from Pittsburgh and I believe she was a cousin to someone in your family. Her parents were Dominic & Jennie Amato. I looked forward to eating your pizza soon.
