Excellent flavors! Eaten from here couple times but the food is so good that it doesn’t last until a picture can be taken. Finally able to this time. Ordered Half pork ribs— fall off the bone tender, with a beautiful rub. Sauces were House spicy & Bourbon ((lightly sweet))— both went great with the ribs. Sides were: corn bread, collards & potatoe salad— I do not believe these need any explanation, if you’ve tried these you’d know! Still…. Oh so wonderful!! Last time we had the Candied Yams which were so good! A bit extra sweet if you like it that way. I’m so surprised this place not once popped up in our BBQ searches until we moved to forest hills. But maaannnnn you have got to go here! Family owned, cooked from scratch. Worth every buck & more. The love is real. I have to go back & tell them a thank you.
Met Popie himself tonight when we discovered this gem. He's super friendly and has some of the best ribs and greens I've had in years! Sauces are on point with 10 different flavors to choose from. Yall don't know what your missing.
Walked into a very welcoming atmosphere . The food was hands down the best food I have from the area. My husband had a half chicken meal with cabbage and beans and I had a wing meal with Mac and red beans rice . All delicious! Then a side of linguine and corn bread to top it off! The corn bread is the best we have ever had in our lives! We highly recommend .
I eat here often! The people are nice and I love the food! This is a great place to get sides like Mac n cheese, greens, cabbage, sweet and spicy beans, green beans and more. They also do breakfast, subs, BBQ meats!

Your barbecue sauce with sweet and tangy with a hint of smoke very good tender moist chicken sweet potatoes had a little hint of something and little smoke flavor.
Stop an owner very friendly open just like a mom and pop used to be. Worth checking out for yourself... since I have posted this I have been back multiple times for the ribs my preference is the pork ribs with the house sauce the beef ribs for me where tough to eat. They're telling her key is pretty decent as well as der meatball hoagie.
So me and my girlfriend decided to give ourselves a challenge and try and find the best barbecue in Pittsburgh… it took us 5 places until we found Popie… Immediately won. Instantly won. No other place within a 30 mile radius could do what they do. All of the other restaurants barely cracked 7/10. We had to skip 8 and 9 for Popie. Insane smoke. Fall off the bone ribs, incredible sauce (and even if sauce isn’t your thing the seasoning is amazing). We got Pork Ribs, Beef Ribs, Half Chicken, Fries, Cabbage, and Mac n’ Cheese. Popie himself was just as wonderful as the food itself. I’m genuinely so incredibly happy we made the trips and we will be making plenty more in the future!
Just found Popie Red's! Definitely a sense of home. The food is absolutely delicious all homemade and great service! Had the ribs, chicken, mac&cheese, collard greens, and the potato salad. Every bite was so good! Can't wait to try everything! 😋
This is the best BBQ restaurant i have ever eaten in my entire life. The workers were so friendly and welcoming. Excellent service. To keep it short, if this was were I lived. I would be broke because i would simply eat here all the time. I got a a full slab with sweet and spicy. The ribs were so tender I forgot I was eating ribs it was like pulled pork.
$13 for a half chicken, 2 sides (sweet and spicy beans & candied yams)& a drink. This is top 3 chicken barbecue I've ever had. It fell off the bones and I was halfway through before I remembered the sauce, but it's so well seasoned you don't need it. Next time I'm trying the pork slab with greens. Yum!

FIVE STARS ALL ACROSS THE BOARD!! I walked in and was immediately welcomed by the owner, incredibly delightful and friendly! He chatted with me a bit and gave me a menu to take home since I had recently moved to the area. Awesome guy! His lovely niece was cooking, and as a burger connoisseur…. Oh my! This was hands down one of the best cheeseburgers I’ve had in my 37 years. As I was looking over the menu, I said how badly I wanted to try the cornbread, I LOVE cornbread, and let me tell you, if I even can, I don’t think words can describe how AMAZING this cornbread tastes. It’s absolutely PERFECT. I will definitely be back, sooner than later. There are so many other options on the menu that I can’t wait to try! This is my new spot for sure!
