Surprisingly authentic and fresh Cantonese dishes. We tried the roasted duck, crab congee, and sticky rice chicken. I lived in Hong Kong for years and the roasted duck I had today was above average, the skin was very crispy. I didn’t expect to have this authentic Cantonese food here in Pittsburgh. Also, the dishes we ordered were all made with fresh ingredients. It is very difficult to cover the rotten tastes of ducks and crabs.

SURPRISING AUTHENTIC CANTONESE, against the cheap Chinese-style greasy salty lunch buffet (corruption of Chinese cuisine). Please please forget that buffet.
ORDER FROM THE MENU, and awaken your palate to the subtle flavors of the Cantonese. The menu is short and very navigable. My recommendations:
1. Cantonese duck - juicy, fat rendered very much to the almost paper thin skin
2. Char Siu pork - unique Chinese BBQ pork, very lean
3. Sautéed Bokchoy with garlic
They also have a small dim sum selection - the best is the Shu Mai and Shrimp Leek Dumplings.
It’s a find for Foodies.

Nice service and good food too.

The pork buns, duck, chicken, and dumplings were absolutely yummy. Each bite was a burst of incredible flavors. Highly recommend!

Great authentic dim sum. BBQ pork over rice was flavorful and portions were fair. Chicken feet were nice and meaty. Buns were soft and juicy. They misheard one of our orders though.

They upgraded the atmosphere greatly in the past year and added a lot more Cantonese food options. The claypot rice is awesome, the rice is crispy and the ribs taste great, though you need to wait for a while. Ask the waiter for more soy sauce for better taste.

Delicious food and good vibes! I love the decorations in the restaurant. Food was here at the blink of an eye. Employees were nice.

Nice place for dim sum in Pittsburgh. Price is affordable. Recommend the taro with pork ribs.

Food was very good. Service was very polite and quick. Ask for the hot and sour soup. Delicious!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Pittsburgh. Incredible Buffet and delightful Staff; Always welcoming and a nice hideaway from all of the busy atmosphere of Oakland.
The Buffet is quite nice for the price. Try the spicy chili oil!

Five stars isn't meant to be like "this is the best restaurant in town period" - it's meant to be "this is the best Chinese buffet anywhere". They choose quality over quantity at this place, so instead of having ten types of unappealing shellfish and mystery fake crab concoctions, endless bland desserts, and horrible pizza, they have just what you want - Chinese comfort food that's actually better than a lot of dedicated takeout restaurants I've had. It's the best Chinese buffet I've been to that I can think of. I wish they'd open a location in Chicago where I live now. All the Chinese buffets here are awful and a Golden Palace would show them how it's done and probably clean up $.

The food was tasty and the renovated inside is a happy site for me.

Roasted duck is very delicious. Skin is crispy, meat is juicy and flavorful, sauce is rich.
Buffet does not worth the money at all. Very limited food option and most of them are chicken and veg dishes.

Loved everything we ordered! Fried dumplings, spring rolls, wonton soup, panned fried noodles, shrimp fried rice. Everything was great! Even the iced tea and hot tea! The service was also pleasant and fast.

They have a reasonably good spread for non vegetarians and a smaller one for vegetarians but the staff and waiters were really nice and made us a few veg dishes. As for the food the taste was okay I felt. But my friends thought it was really good. So yeah they gave a good spread if you're really hungry and also they gave a discount if you're a student. So if you did therm you're ID they'll give you a discount as well.
Aditya Ramesh

Great wonton soup.
Buffet selection is good.
For the amazing price ($8 lunch and $7.85 dinner) this place is great! Would definitely go back. Pay as you enter.
Don't expect much service though!

Good chow spot on Forbes Ave/Pitt campus area. You pay as you enter(before you eat) which makes getting in and out, easy .
You'll see the usual Chinese-American dishes on the buffet. Lot of college kids/University employees, hospital employees / Nurses, Doctors and i've seen Life-Flight/MedEvac helicopter pilots in there with their flight suits on , chowing away . An interesting social melange all just getting their chow on .
Not best Chinese food in town but good enough to squeltch the hunger pains .

Good Food. I am happy I found this very nice place. Some people may criticize it, but compared to very unhealthy "fast food" options just around the corner, where you have to make a usually huge queue and wait for very long to get your food, you can say that this is heaven. The food is good for an average person. I have never tried beef, but I tried all the rest and I find it tasty and well cooked. The staff is very friendly and always wishing to help. If you want to have a good meal/dinner for a reasonable price, this is definitely the place to go.

Not gourmet but tasty. I should feel guilty about this buffet since it is not fancy and the food is ordinary - but I like eating there. Sitting on one of the table with a good book and then browsing the buffet is not bad at all. And the food generally is tasty. I admitn then selection of food is limited but I cannot deny it is tasty. And the price is reasonable. I think I speak for a lot of people who frequent the Golden Palace.

Great food for cheap. When I got there immediate seating right away. The waitress was friendly and quite fluent in English. The seafood noodle soup was excellent and was enough to keep me full the rest of the day. My mother, who was visiting, said the chow fun was the best she'd ever had. The bill was small for the food of this quality. I'd definitely recommend this to anybody coming to Pittsburgh.

Horrible food - greasy and salty and tends to be overcooked.

I Enjoyed it.. For the Moneys' worth, it's a cool place. Some of their food is great and some not so great. Buffet style, I really enoy the sesame tofu, peking ribs and fried zucchini. It's certainly a place worth trying, as everyone obviously has different tastes.

Decent and pleasantly cheap. Price is the biggest thing Golden Palace has going for it. You can get a buffet visit for $7. I don't know of any other place in Oakland that offers a buffet so that's a plus.

Unfortunately their food falls on the mediocre scale, and there's not a wide selection anyway. The General Tso's is decent but their beef dishes are insufferably bland. If you're not too discerning you won't mind, but dammit I can be discerning when there are a half-dozen Chinese places on that very block.

Worth checking out if only due to its inexpensive nature. But you can find better places just down the street.

Qauntity vs. Quality. In terms of selection, they have a pretty good buffet. Its well stocked with all of the regulars (general tso's, pepper steak, lo mein, hot chicken, soups, etc.) Though there is plenty of food for you to gorge on, the quality leaves a lot to be desired. The thing that bothered me about the food was that all of the friend chicken was not fried right. The batter was very thick and doughy. Chicken doughnuts is not what I was looking to have for dinner.

If you're looking to stuff yourself with food for $7, this is the place for you. If your looking for good chinese food for $7, go to Sezchwan Express right down the street.

College Student Buffet. The food and selection is certainly nothing extraordinary...but you can get a decent dinner and a drink for under $8. Quite the value, and offers an alternative to the fast food joints and cafes near UPitt's campus. General Tso's took the cake.
