Review Little Asia - Pittsburgh

James Ralston
When Little Asia first opened, they served strictly Americanized Chinese food (e.g., beef with broccoli). But times and palates have changed, and now they have an entirely separate Szechuan cuisine menu. I can’t speak to the service, sushi, or American menu (I always order off of the Szechuan menu, and I always get take-out), but I’ve been pleased with everything I’ve had so far. Prices are a little high (particularly for those on a college budget), but the portion sizes are HUGE. You can easily make 2-3 meals out of a single entrée. So even though it might not seem like it when you’re looking at the menu prices, there’s good value for the money.

The food here is so good I wanted to cry! This is NOT your typical American, takeout Chinese food place. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL - they even have unique dishes from authentic chinese home-cooking like stir-fried eggs and tomatoes! It reminded me very much of when I was a study abroad student in China and I couldn’t stop eating because the food was so good...super fresh, not too oily, full of flavor, and DELICIOUS. I had no idea this kind of food was possible outside of China! I’m beyond happy to find out about it and will be back many, many times! Wish I took more pictures - also ordered the stir-fried cabbage, dumplings, and this incredible lamb stuffed biscuit thing. YUM!

Nice food and service here!Love the portion size of meals here and the heat level of the dishes was excellent. The spicy steam fish filet is very tasty!

Food here is really good for a good price. They give huge portions for an unbelievable price. This is my go-to spot for dinner with a friend. Definitely recommend for college students.

Shredded pork was fresh, in fact everything was fresh. Octopus was cooked well, and the seaweed was a good compliment to the dish

Kinda long wait but good Chinese food, especially for students like me who have been craving Chinese food! It’s very salty though and slightly pricy

The food here is really authentic. It is one of the more authentic Chinese foods I've had in Pittsburgh. However, take out and dine in all have a long wait before the food comes out. Be prepared to spend over an hour for lunch here. Take out wait time is about 45 minutes. The employees here are also not super caring as many other reviews have mentioned. I will likely be coming back since the food here is pretty good.

Food is pretty authentic. Portions are sufficiently huge. If you're eating with a friend, and you're both not huge eaters, I think it's fine to share a dish. It's a bit on the pricey side when compared to the entire street, but they do offer "memberships" when you can pre-pay up to $100, and get 10% off for each bill. I didn't subscribe because I didn't see myself eating here often enough as a student.

We've ordered takeout here quite a few times now. The lo mein is some of the best in Pittsburgh, and makes fantastic leftovers. The spicy chili tofu is beyond delicious and is probably my favorite menu item; the ma po tofu is also good, a bit heavy on the Sichuan peppercorns sometimes. The steamed buns and dumplings are totally fine, although I feel they're priced a bit high. Their iterations of General Tso's, Amazing Chicken, etc. are all good if you're in that sort of mood. And the Chinese sandwiches are definitely not something you find everywhere - they're super filling and very tasty, especially for the price. Lunch specials are a good deal if you'd like to try a variety, since their dinner prices are on the higher end - but the food's always good.

This place is cute and the food is very well prepared. The staff are friendly and helpful! The portion sizes are not too large, and I feel I'm getting a good value for my money!

I came here with three Chinese friends. We ordered and shared several dishes. They were authentic and extremely tasty. The dessert selection was also nice. The green tea & red bean cake was out of this world!

Not good.... I work in Oakland and finally decided to try this place out. The menu is huge, but the lunch special section only had a couple options. I ordered Kung Pao chicken w the chicken on a stick. it just wasn't good, the chicken was suspect and the chicken on a stick was tiny and hard. They do have sushi which I didn't try so maybe that's the main draw. I won't go back.

Awful Service. Food here is usually pretty good but the service is always terrible. Takes forever to get your food, or get a drink refilled. Last time I went here our waitress just forgot to submit one of the orders. None of the food came out at the same time. Definitely better places in Oakland for Sushi or Chinese food.

SKIP THIS PLACE!. I ordered steamed dumplings to go, I got five dumplings for $5, that's a DOLLAR a dumpling! And they were NOT good, and there was no sauce, no NOTHING with it. I won't be back.

The taste is ok but not the service. The first time I went there they almost forgot to serve the milk tea. The second time milk tea and drinks were slow and I had to ask for they twice to get them served with the dishes. Not even water was served in the first ten minutes.

I'm done with little asia!. The food is mediocre at best and they seem to enjoy keeping customers confused and delayed when ordering food, especially sushi to go. This time the floor smelled like they haven't cleaned their mop in years and the smell is in my sushi which i can't not eat! I don't recommend this place.

Great sushi!. This place serves really inventive and delicious sushi. The prices are very good too. I highly recommend the Dancing dragon roll and exploring the sushi lunch specials. They also have Bento boxes, noodle soups and more standard Chinese fare.

Good, not great. Not the best Chinese I've ever had, but it was good. Decently priced.

Best chinese food in Oakland. I love this place. I've taken tons of people there and everyone always has a great meal and great experience.

The service is always good and the food comes out not more than 10 minutes after ordering. If you're deciding between this place and Lulu's, cross the street and save yourself the diarrhea.
