Review Dijlah Restaurant - Pittsburgh

I came here for a warm and tasty late night meal, and that is exactly what I got. I ordered some French fries and a falafel plate, after asking if any of it had dairy/eggs (no, it doesn't!). Very happy with my decision, and I enjoyed waiting in the restaurant. It has a comfortable, homey vibe.

My son and daughter took me here for Mother’s Day for my first taste of Iraqi food. It was totally delightful! Our waitress was quick to get our drink and food orders. She also checked back often during our meal to see if we had everything we needed and if everything was OK. For appetizers, we got the Hummus, Babaganush, and Sigara Borek. They were all good, and we especially loved the Sigara Borek. For entrées my son got the Kuzi (lamb shank) with rice and salad, my daughter had the Lamb Tekka with rice and salad, and I had the mixed grill with rice and salad. The Kuzi was so moist and tender and had a wonderful flavor, my daughters Lamb Tekka was delicious, and I liked all three of the meats on my mixed grill. We all agreed that our dinners were fantastic, and we had more than enough to eat, and got takeout containers for the remainder of our meals. My only negative comment would be that the place could be a little cleaner, and the restrooms could use some cleaning up also. That would not stop us from going back there again for another delicious dinner. The pictures I am including were from the menu, but we were told to scan the code because things on the menu had changed. That included the prices and the sides that came with the dishes. On the menu, it mentions that you will get fried tomatoes and onions with a lot of the meals but instead they came with a salad. All in all it was a very good experience.

This place is a true gem. A piece of what the best of Middle Eastern culture has to offer. Unwavering hospitality, authentic food that is made with love & most of all a friendly open arms. I bring my friends and family here to enjoy this restaurant and it’s one of kind atmosphere. Thank you Ali and staff for making this amazing place possible for us to enjoy!

Didn't get to experience the hookah, but the food was quite good. I tried the chicken tikka kebab skewer (3), an Iraqi kebab, 2 spinach and feta pies, ossmalleya, and baklava. When I first entered the restaurant, I noticed that it was decorated nicely but there was no on there. I got my takeout order in a fair amount of time, though. The first item I tried was the chicken and Iraqi kebabs. The chicken was a bit overcooked and a little too charred for my taste. However, it was still flavorful and pretty tasty. The Iraqi kebab (chicken) reminded me of sausage for some reason. It had almost a processed meat texture to it, so I wasn't the biggest fan. Try the non-chicken Iraqi kebab instead. I was very pleasantly surprised by the pies. They were huge, and each single pie came cut into two smaller pies. The feta was clearly high quality and the breading was done well, too. They stuffed it full of spinach, but it wasn't overpowering the cheese. Just a hint of onion as well. The desserts were fairly good, and a great bang for your buck. I'm pretty sure both the ossmalleya and the baklava is not made in house since I saw him taking out a dessert box when preparing my order. Still, I enjoyed the baklava. Maybe just a bit more syrup but otherwise great. Ossmalleya is quite unique: nice pistachio inside, some syrup (not enough though), crispy topping, and a hint of lemon. Overall, there aren't many Iraqi places in western Pennsylvania, so this place is worth a try. The prices are very reasonable and you get a fair portion of food (huge portion for the pies).

ممتاز حق الي يدور كبسة/ مچبوس و مرق باميه و اكل جيد و حلال I found this restaurant through searching on Google for Iraqi/Gulf food and we decided to try it out…I’m glad we did! Very nice authentic arabic food. Lovely seating area with decorations. Not a grand luxurious setting but with an authentic lovely touch of decorations that reflects their homeland. The rice and meat was very delicious and halal. The meat used were lamb shanks. The tea was also super (not easy to find brewed tea in Pittsburgh). The service was very good thank you Ali for taking care of us. We also ordered catering for the next day and everything was great.

I wished we came here more often, but we live about 30 minutes away. Their food was great! Nice and quiet on a Sunday evening.

I visited this place for the first time. It was located in a lovely area in butler st. We ordered Falafel in the appetizer and a Lamb shank platter with Iraqi Kabob (for 3) in the main. It serves with salad. The Lamb shank platter was good in taste, with excellent flavor. Falafel feels like an overcook. I didn't try the hookah but will give it a try next time.

This is a nice little restaurant with great tasting food. The server was very friendly. Portion size comparison with the prices for the meals was pretty decent. I'll definitely be eating at this place again.

Good food, nice service. We ordered Iraqi kebab and it was really good, served on a dish of rice and salad and seasoned with sumac. We enquired about their hookahs, the place was not open before 5pm.

I only had $1.35 for an Amhad tea which was excellent. I was jealous of the guy next to me who ordered a feast fit for a sultan and chowed down the whole thing as I was starving. The servers are very nice.
