Review The Foundry Table & Tap - Pittsburgh

Alex Mykita
We had our wedding (ceremony + reception) at The Foundry, and we would absolutely recommend it for events! We had about 100 people, so we had to split seating between the event room and the bar, which was no problem and actually fun for our vibe - a little less traditional, cozy, and encouraging people to move around and mingle. We also had access to a portion of the patio that led to the river walk, which was perfect to step out for air. It was a beautiful space for a more relaxed fall wedding. The staff was WONDERFUL - everyone was so sweet and was really on top of things! We thought staff would just keep the buffet full and work at the bar, but they also went around checking with everyone for drinks, including guests that went outside to the patio area. We were so impressed! Several guests have said this was the best wedding food they've ever had. Rachel, the venue coordinator, was very easy to work with and flexible with our questions and ideas. Sometimes, it takes her a little bit to respond to emails, but she's very thorough if you're patient. She also made an amazing floor layout. We do recommend having an event/day of coordinator on your end or someone to help with your setup, because you won't have access to the space until a few hours before your event, which was not an issue for us but is something to consider when booking. We were thrilled with everything The Foundry did and have already recommended them to others for their events!

Great place for breakfast before a Steelers game. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with the waffle. The French toast was tasty. We had the cauliflower with both seasonings on the side, and it was tasty too. We would definitely visit again.

Food, drinks, vibes— this place is a 10/10!! We sat outside for brunch and enjoyed some appetizers and they were incredible! We got the Brussels sprouts, pork belly, and fruit and we cleaned our plates! For our entrees we got chicken and waffles, biscuit and sausage gravy with eggs, kids chicken tenders and fries, chicken sandwich and a salad. All were absolutely amazing! Fries and potato wedges were even phenomenal. We sat outside, they could definitely use an awning or more shade because it was HOT, but there was inside seating! Waitresses were great! We will definitely be back!

My fiance and I just planned a wedding shower with about 75 guests at The Foundry and I cannot say enough good things about Rachel (the events manager) and the rest of the staff. Rachel was extremely accommodating and attentive to all of my needs via email and completely handled the delivery of a champagne wall rental we had for the shower with that vendor without me needing to be involved at all. She was also attentive to me throughout the event, ensuring I had everything I needed and that everything was running smoothly and my expectations were being met. We received so many compliments on all of the food we had for our guests, especially the prime rib carving station and buffalo chicken sliders. Our guests were also extremely impressed with the event room we used and the attentiveness of the staff! Waitstaff was extremely attentive taking our drink orders and bringing them into the cocktail-style event where everyone was up and moving around. I would recommend anyone have an event here!!

The Foundry Tap and Table was a fair dining experience. The atmosphere was not particularly lively on the Sunday when I visited. The ambient music was bad. My Pittsburgh salad was interesting, but the large pieces of lettuce made it clunky to eat. I did enjoy that the fries were cut in a variety of sizes which provided multiple textures, some crunchy, some buttery.

Nice atmosphere once you get to the main part of the restaurant. Good drinks and I thought my salad was great. However for the price I paid for the steak frites, I think it could have at least been plated nicer, and it was nothing special.

Cool place for a small wedding ceremony and reception! The Foundry has a semi-private room in the back that can accommodate around 50 people. I had such a great time photographing a wedding here - and you have direct access to the Rivewalk on the North Shore right through the glass doors in the back of the room so finding beautiful photo spots right in the heart of downtown is so easy! I appreciated that once I found parking for the day I didn't have to move to get to beautiful photo locations - everything is right there for you! We got some great shots of the yellow bridges and the Gateway clipper with the Point in the background, and there were even plenty of picturesque places with cover overhead when it rained. The banquet room is accessed by a walk through the restaurant, but with the heavy sliding barn doors to seal it off once you're in there, we were able to have a DJ and play music without disturbing the restaurant guests and visa versa. Great venue for a unique wedding!

We recently got married here in the private room with 50 of our friends and family. The space was amazing, the food was great, and the team here is AMAZING. Anyone looking for a smaller space for a wedding or an event i can’t recommend this place more!!

I came here for my works end of the year celebration. The ambience inside was super chilled and relaxed with the bartenders very nice and poured my wine with passion! We ended up having appetizers for the food which were amazing. We had coconut shrimp, vegetable egg rolls, salad, fruit and vegetables which I loved. Their home made sauces were extremely tasteful. I will have to visit once again and try their main courses.

Recommend reserving a table. Food portion sizes were great! Food was delicious. Casual or dressy atmosphere depending on the occasion. Prices were good and you get a lot of food for the money. Best fried pickles I have had. Pork Belly app was good too! Had Lamb chops and NY strip. Food is locally sourced which is always nice! Not a chain restaurant.

**Abby at The Foundry in Pittsburgh** I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Foundry in Pittsburgh and was blown away by the service from our bartender, Abby. She was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and she made sure that we had a wonderful experience. As soon as we sat down at the bar, Abby introduced herself and welcomed us to The Foundry. She asked us what we were interested in drinking and made some great recommendations based on our preferences. She was also very knowledgeable about the local beer scene and was able to answer all of our questions. In addition to being knowledgeable, Abby was also incredibly attentive. She made sure that our drinks were always full and that we had everything we needed. She was also very friendly and engaging, and we enjoyed chatting with her about the FSU Pitt game. Overall, Abby was an outstanding bartender and I would highly recommend her to anyone visiting The Foundry. She made our experience truly special, and we would definitely return to The Foundry just to see her again. **Five stars out of five!**

Given the name of this place, and the outward aspect, I expected bar food. And that's what I got, but it was really good bar food! My smashburger was excellent, my wife's salad with salmon was also really good. They were comfortably crowded but not overcrowded, even though there was a game going on, the service was good, the drinks were delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised overall!

Their pulled pork is tender, and mild, and I had mine with a bit of hot sauce. The pretzel roll it was served on was excellent. The cole slaw was a bit wet, and is just ok. The fried cauliflower is truly delicious. The romaine/kale caesar salad with fried chicken was good, but could have been dressed a bit more. The cheese on the salad was nicely shaved in big flakes. The walnuts on the caesar salad was an interesting choice of ingredient. The service was good, although our server didn’t bring us a water bottle as she did with the other tables, and we had to go inside to the bar to get water. The back patio seating, with riverfront view, was phenomenal. I would go back.

Our pics are def picked over, they looked way better when we started but we were all starving and dug right in. Perfect comfort food for a Sunday brunch! We ordered about 7 or 8 different things and had a family style breakfast. We were all highly satisfied! Amazing food, amazing quality and if you like hollandaise you’re literally going to have your mind blown! Thank you so much for an amazing brunch!!

We went for the first time. They came up as brunch in the area that we were staying. We ordered of the brunch menu. My eggs benedict was pretty good. It just needed some toast on the English muffins. Only had a few little issues but they were on top of it and made it right. We will definitely keep this on the list to go again.

After considering several different places in the city to have a surprise 40th birthday party for my wife, I settled on the Foundry Table & Tap. I had been there for happy hour a few times prior, enjoyed the atmosphere, beer list, and the food, but my wife had never been there and neither had many of our guests, so I was a bit nervous about deciding to have the party there. However, my concerns were entirely without merit as the party turned out fantastically, thanks to the Foundry owners and staff who worked with me to make the event exceed my expectations. I reserved the front bar area given that I knew I would have approximately 30 people attend the party. Being in the front bar area for this number of people meant that we had appropriate seating and mingling area for both adults and children, our own bar for the entire event, and several televisions to watch the Pens playoff game later in the evening. The Foundry allowed us to decorate the space and bring in our own birthday cake. I ordered numerous items from the menu and the chef helped me to determine an appropriate amount of food to order. Because I was looking for a more casual vibe, I went with the buffet option rather than a seated dining option. On the menu we had crudite, stuffed mushrooms, arancini, strawberry salad, brisket, pork sliders, buffalo chicken sliders, pierogi mashed potatoes, and vodka penne. We also ordered several items from the kid's menu since our's and several of our friends' children attended. The food ready to go at the start of the party, it was well-presented, and delicious! I received numerous positive comments from our guests about the food (especially the brisket, the buffalo chicken sliders, and the pierogi mashed potatoes), the space itself, our great bartender and the cocktails that the Foundry offers (the Whippet is a must-try), and just the overall inviting and fun atmosphere that the Foundry provided. My wife absolutely loved it and I couldn't be happier with the effort shown by the Foundry, from its owners to its staff, to help make my wife's birthday party special! If you're looking for an inviting atmosphere in an an area of the city with great views of Downtown, many other bars within walking distance, ample parking, great food, a varied and impressive beer list, and attentive people to help you plan your event, the Foundry Table & Tap is your place.

Pass through a small bar facing North Shore Drive, and head for the river side! There you'll find the main bar, dining room, and spacious partly-shaded patio overlooking Pittsburgh's Riverwalk. Upscale casual food; nicely-curated craft beer menu; server Mary gave spot-on advice; delightfully close to the Point, affording views of the Incline, Ducky boats, and Gateway Clippers. My kale and Romaine Caesar with Asiago "fritters" and five-minute egg ($11) was super-fresh, tasty, and plenty filling. Dark Horse JAA Raspberry Black Ale ($8) nicely embodied a "beer first, fruit second" ethos. Groom pronounced the Foundry Burger & fries ($14) scrumptious, and the Rusty Rail Peanut Butter Heffeweizen entirely worthy. Our first visit. Will be back!

We stop at The Foundry before every Steeler home game. Great place to get a couple beers before heading into the stadium and paying their high prices. The appetizers are always plentiful and tasty. Such a beautiful view of the river from the back patio where we have grabbed a sausage sandwich from the grill. Someone in our group always gets the burger and has never been disappointed. Beautiful restaurant. I would recommend it to anyone.

I had the pleasure of sharing The Chef's Table with 2 of my friends on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. We were greeted warmly by Andrew, the owner and escorted to our table in the kitchen. The seven course menu was superb! From our first course of pork belly to dessert of three selections of chocolate peanut butter mousse, key lime parfait and cider poached apple. Each course was delivered by Andrew and then Chef Kyle came to the table to explain the ingredients and preparation of the dish in detail and answer any questions. Since we three are very avid cooks and entertainers there were many questions and lively conversations about the courses. Before our dinner Andrew contacted me to inquire about any allergies or food preferences, to be sure that our dinner was all that we expected, and it was!!! This was a wonderful special occasion dinner and I hope to have the opportunity to enjoy it again.

We went for the first time this weekend. The food was to die for! Excellent excellent excellent! My husband and I both got the steak with mushrooms and brussel sprouts covered in hollindaise sauce. It was succulent. High end food at a really great price. The atmosphere is superb and our waitress was one of the best we have had anywhere in a really long time. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and made you feel at home. We will be frequenting the Foundry from this point forward.

The worst "fancy" food I've ever eaten. Calling the flavors "unique" would be the nice way of putting it, but really they just put weird toppings and rosemary on all the entrees. It all looked amazing as far as plate appearance but unfortunately you still have to eat it after...the beer is very good but they need a new menu

May have been the worst service I have ever had. Waited 30 minutes for our drinks, and close to an hour for appetizers. It took at least 20 minutes for drinks ordered throughout the meal and we had to keep asking for water. Only half of our ordered appetizers made it to the table, and an entree and salad were missing. Such a shame as the food that was brought to the table was actually quite tasty. Beer selection is great but skip the cocktails they are overpriced and not very good.

Service was great and apps were very good ( pork bellies were great), I had the Po Boy and the bun was extremely hard but great flavor in meat... fries were small ( a lot of short fries, hard to dip in ketchup) but great atmosphere and not badly priced. Would definitely give it another shot

Went yesterday for a beer and bite before a show. Walked in the front door, bar closed no hostess. Made our way down the long hall to the back area, heard ppl back there, and were then seated. Good enough beer list although a little pricey for 10-16oz drafts. I was excited about the pho but was really disappointed when it arrived. $12 for beef broth with scallions, cilantro, jalapeno, and "rice noodles". Not the flavor profile of any pho I had before and had fettuccine noodles, I guess they could've been rice. Server was so-so. There were 3 of us, each ordered beer, brought 2 and said it would be a few minutes for the 3rd- I could see it sitting there. Same thing when we tried to pay, told us she'd be back in a few minutes when we already had credit cards ready and her hands were empty. We tried it, don't like it, won't be back.

We came for the Steelers vs the Packers game and stumbled upon this place. It was busy but the staff was working it and we got everything we needed to pregame. Food and drinks very attentive server. Great stop before the game.

Excellent beer selection, a unique menu and a friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Good food, generous portions, and lovely patio. Would like to have seen more dinner salad choices.

Really nice place, our waiter was excellent, place was super clean and comfortable, food was great! Will definitely be back. Great area of the city for sightseeing, right along the river and by Heinz and PNC across from A&E music venue. Parking and access is pretty good considering its location.

The staff, the atomosphere, the duck confit, the pork belly, the bone marrow, the craft cocktails are absolutely the best!! I travel the country for work and this establishment stands out by far!!

We came in for brunch on Mother's Day. Gentleman that sat us was very friendly and personable. Our server not so much, she did her job .....served our food. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Maybe I didn't read the description, but I expected to see shrimp. I was told it was "ground up in the sauce". Not what I expected but unique and tasty. The others in my party had burgers and breakfast and were happy with their meals. I enjoyed the Bloody Mary bar, but a larger glass would be nice. With so much ice in a small glass there wasn't much room for condiments at the bar. Overall good experience, we'll probably stop in again.

Awesome food and staff. Probably one of the best beer lists near the stadium. Super limited and hard to find beers on. Would definitely come back!

Had dinner and drinks here last night before the Pitt game. Andrew was polite and informative and the food was delicious!!!!! Not a large menu but left stuffed! Thank you for a great meal!!!!

Fantastic service and finally a restaurant that doesn't feel like it is a hassle to offer delicious gluten free options! (Huge gluten free selection!)

We stopped at the Foundry for dinner after finding ridiculous waits elsewhere. Sometimes things just work out. We were seated right away, and the food was fabulous though service was a bit confused as to who was waiting our table. Service was still quite good. Have a Kentucky mule! Pierogi's were really good as was the pasta and ample fried chicken sandwich. Still can't understand why folks weren't lined up to eat here!

We've frequented The Foundry since it opened several months back, and have always been impressed with the quality of food & service for an independent restaurant operating amongst some polished & proven competition. This weekend, we stretched it and hired the private room for our daughter's first birthday party, and they knocked it out of the park! We had 50+ guests plus kids, so there were some challenges involved for sure. Great catering menu, great service, very accommodating to our shifting needs as the day went on (kids birthdays are basically chaos theory rewired). Thanks again Andrew & co for making it a day to remember!

Keith did an outstanding job handling our class reunion. The front bar was just big enough for a small private party. Beer selection was perfect and the food was not like something you would find in a bar.

From the moment we walked in, we were treated well. The host asked us if we wanted to eat outside or inside. We said out the changed our minds because it was a bit warm and he quickly escorted us back in and seated us. We were greeted by our server with a nice, bubbly personality. We explained my food allergies and she took the time to cross check what I wanted to order with the kitchen to avoid any issues! We even let the manager know what a wonderful experience we had dining there. He was a little surprised that we took the time to acknowledge a job well done! Always appreciate awesome service!

Great beer selection good food and a polite staff, even when it was busy
