When in The Burgh - there are many options for the pizza craving masses. Well locals know that there's a spot not far from the mainstream hustle of Market Square that one can order up a most delectable pie - and sit at a quaint back area bar that is probably one of the best kept secrets of the metropolitan area.
The slices here are the kind that make you want more with each bite. The pepperoni rolls are the crave that draws me to this out of the way spot every time though. The sauce they use here is stand alone amazing, but pair it with the rolls here and Man....it's worth finding this spot every time you're in the Burgh!
The bar in the back is always the kinda place where you can get a cold draft beer or mixed drink and a conversation with a mix of locals that has always been a great time as well!

Ordered on the Slice app and it was ready right on time. The large pepperoni pizza had the pepperoni under/mixed in with the cheese and I really prefer this! The pie is thinner crust and pretty good overall, although the crust is a little large.
I ordered a side of fries and these were pretty disappointing. They were salted okay but very soggy/soft. I’m not sure how long they sat in a take out box but I want to say not long enough to have become that soft.
Overall, it’s still a good shop, and I’d get a pie here again but avoid the fries if you’re getting take out.

I was in state visiting and everything was closed late Sunday except this place and I have to say I don’t regret going here at all. Best pizza I’ve ever had! Sauce was so flavorful we ended up ordering 2 more pizzas. The lady at the bar had a packed room but was super attentive and patient.

This place actually exceeded my expectations. Pizza was not the best but still pretty good, but the chicken parmigiana hero (8-inch) was delightfully tasty, with the chicken being thin and tender and the bread toasted nicely. Decor could use an update but overall pretty solid place. I was full for hours after lol.

Ordered for delivery. The food was very delicious. Chicken wings were a little spicy, though the wings were going to be tossed in the garlic sauce. It was on the side. But over all visiting from out of state it was very good pizza.

Great pizza, hot and fresh, open (and delivers!) very late. It can be noisy when you call, so if your order is bigger I'd recommend ordering with Grubhub. They handle all the deliveries in-house, and I've never had a mixup in 50 or so orders.
Thanks guys!

It's a nice dark place for some of the best pizza I'd have in downtown Pittsburgh also amazing drinks with a cheap price! Great place for a bite to eat n drink!

We usually order from our local pizza place, but wanted to try something different.
Figured we would try this place, but wasn't sure what to expect (pizza easy to get right...but even EASIER to get WRONG!)
We were NOT disappointed and glad we decided to try. The pizza came relatively quickly and was hot fresh. Ordered extra cheese and there was a good amount of cheese on it. The dough, sauce and cheese are all very good. Perfect cook on the pizza as well. Cooked through, but not burnt.
I recommend trying this pizza, if you haven't tried it yet..
We will DEFINITELY order again.

Me and my boyfriend went for lunch and it was sooo good omg one of the best pizzas i’ve ever had

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place on accident while walking around Pittsburgh. We went in and sat at the bar. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman (the owner I assume) he immediately brought our drinks while we checked out the menu. We settled on the pizza of our choice. It arrived quickly. We were pleasantly surprised! The pizza itself (buffalo ranch) was delicious. Just enough spice! The chicken was fresh as were all the ingredients! The dough was my favorite. No questions here, this was all fresh and handmade! Overall great experience. Cozy little place. Delicious food and excellent customer service!! Ohh && their homemade ranch is addictive, probably the best I've ever had :) will visit again if we are in town!

The pizza was awesome! A nice hidden gem in the city. Great place to grab a drink with exceptional service from Kimmy, the bartender. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

So the other week I posted on yelp about my encounter with this establishment. Yesterday I received notification that the owner replied. In his reply, it seems to me that he might think that I am a competitor since I decided to tell others of a pizza place that I thoroughly enjoy over Genoa. I'm reposting my review just so "Dave" knows that I'm not, nor do I appreciate his response for my honest review. My original review is as follows:
Typically I order from Ephesus Pizza (they are amazing!) but this time I gave Genoa a shot. It unfortunately was bad. I'm giving it 2 stars, as I think a 1 star review is reserved for those who find sanitary issues (bugs, hair, etc) or something pretty heinous. I'll give you a play by play:
1) Delivery driver gets here. He calls as they typically do, and I walk outside. He is sitting in his car in the middle of the street and continues to sit there. I literally had to walk barefoot to his drivers side door to get my food.
2) I ordered fries, 2x gyros and a large pizza. I open up the fries and they are soggy as all hell. Now, fries are tricky. Most restaurants poke holes in the box to let the steam escape so they don't get super gross. This restaurant did not.
3) I open the gyros up and they are sooooo soggy from the grease off the gyro meat. It's wet and slimy and pretty gross feeling. I pull out the tzatziki and it's fully separated. This means it was made (lord knows when), portioned off in portion cups and thrown in the fridge. Then the waters separate from the dairy fats. It's not bad, it just looks bad. What was bad though, was the lettuce on the gyro. It was soggy (probably from mixing with the hot grease from the gyro meat) and it was brown and tasted awful.
4) I open the pizza, hoping that it would redeem the poor quality of the meal, and it's lukewarm at best. This is within 5 minutes of it being dropped off. I was so disappointed. Flavor was ok (it was chicken and bacon), but the crust is that generic crappy dough that you find at any hotel delivery pizza place like Pizza Mia, Pizza Palermo, Pizza Parma, Pizza Perfectta....you get the idea.
Never am I going to order from here again. Issues across the board, so I highly doubt it was a one time situation. I'm definitely going back to Ephesus as my go-to. They are fantastic with many many more wonderful options. Can you say "dry plum chicken pizza"? Because it's the best.
Dave's response is as follows:
Comment by Dave A. of Genoa Pizza & Bar:
You have one review on yelp and started yelping right before leaving your only reviews for us we appreciate it. We also would like to point out couple things.Instead of going to your favorite pizza shops page and leaving a great review for them you chose to check out our page and bash us with four other pizza place while doing a great advertisement for your favorite place. We clearly understand your intentions and feel sorry for anyone who is involved in this travesty!

This place is so terrible i order a deluxe steak hoagie and was not satisfied there was hardly meat on the hoagie. So i called to complain about it and the owner told me to order somewhere else since i wasn’t happy with his food and that he wasn’t giving me my money back because it’s on me. He also said it’s not his responsibility to make me like his food. He was really rude about it and he doesn’t make sure his customers are happy. This place will never get my money again

I work nearby and am always impressed by the food and service. Everything is ridiculously fresh, and when I order pasta for lunch I always have at least dinner and lunch for the next day. Their online ordering is super convenient, and I just adore this place quite frankly. Don't expect anything super trendy or fancy, but you'll have a good meal :)

Wow. I ordered a specialty pizza and it was at my hotel in less than thirty minutes....
The pizza is also one of the best I've had, too.
I ordered the buffalo chicken ranch. It was incredibly hearty and delicious. The ranch must be made at location, too. Good stuff.

The owner or manager is incredibly rude. When you call he screams at you, tells you "too bad" that you are allergic to something and when you ask him for help he hangs up on you. There was no sympathy. Worst customer service. Avoid this place if possible.

We ordered pizza from them while staying at a hotel. It was supposed to be delivered between 35/40 mins. There was NEVER a pizza delivered and when we tired to call the restaurant back, the line was BUSY for over an hour! Needless to say, we NEVER received our pizza from them

Absolutely horrible! Called at 2 for a pizza for delivery they said okay my Order was in. Called close to three and spoke to someone apologized for the wait and said my pizza was in route. 315 they said that they had no idea and hung up on me. Called back and hung up on me three more times. I never blast small businesses but absolutely horrid!!!!!!

Was recently in Pittsburgh on business and decided one night to have a pizza delivered to my hotel. This pizza is nothing short of amazing! Very tasty! This will definitely be a stop for me if I make it back! Five stars!
