Amazing beer selection. Bottle Service, Double Bottle Service, Bain of Existence, & Throwback are my personal favorites.
The atmosphere is chill, family friendly with card games available for us to play as a family. The bartenders are always nice and knowledgeable of the beers on tap.

Creative flavor profiles; inviting local atmosphere; a bit on the home brew side of the spectrum, but the potential to become top craft is evident. I look forward to seeing this place's brews evolve.

Really enjoyed this place! Nice set up. While small there are a lot of tables outdoor. 3 for $13 flights. Beer was great. Food was delicious and very affordable. Tacos 3 for $9.. Hummus with pita for like $5. The pickled green beans that came with the hummus were incredible! Staff was friendly. So glad we found this place.

Hitchhiker is the best for meeting your friends and having some great beer! They have food trucks sometimes on the weekends and trivia on Wednesdays. I love hanging out there and I love taking their beer to go 🙂

Amazing beer selection, great bartenders and small bites. They do not have a kitchen but you can get things like tacos, chips and salsa, cheese /meat tray, and local jerkey. They also have LEONA'S ICE CREAM SANDWICHES!
If you want to get cans when they release (big releases are on Saturdays) expect a line!

Stoped there on the way on a Friday night had some drink with hubby . Got to witness the sanitation procedure. It’s clean let me tell you Covid and germ eliminated for sure .

The other location is a lot more spacious, but the beer is the same and just as awesome here. Top notch not-very-sour-sours. Really good stouts, although sometimes lacking in body. IPA can be awesome or mediocre, but never wrong, just personal preference.

Nice cool "adult" type chill Brewery... Staff was pleasant & welcoming. Selection is great! Thursday Ten Dollar Flights -- Great deal! I need that Lemon, Orange & Blueberry allLllLlLLllll the time! The games are a nice touch to the atmosphere. Nothing like a competitive game of UNO!

Really enjoyed our time here. The beer was amazing. Had the summer stout, OMG. Sat on the back deck. Great day.

Tasty delicious beer. The food truck looked fun. Advertised as Korean korn dogs.

Absolutely perfect from top to bottom. My husband and I came for an afternoon and we honestly didn’t wanna leave . From the beers on tap to the appetizers to the entrées. Everything was so beyond satisfying!

Great little spot to hang out on a nice day. They have a nice deck area in the back and an area on the side with picnic tables. My hubby and I love to go here and try a new game they have available for costumers to play. Exploding kittens is one of our favorites. The beer is never disappointing. Lots to choose from on tap from IPA to a solid stout. Almost every time we go here we bring home the 3 Crowler deal. 3 cans of 32oz of delicious beer for 27ish dollars. A great deal! They do have some food here. It's small items like hummus and cheese dip, but still something to soak up the booze. Also dog friendly. A must go if you're in the area.

Excellent, cozy spot. Great outdoor seating areas to the side and rear. Outdoor areas are dog friendly.

Good beer. Food truck was sold out. So we had to go to a different place to eat

First time that I've been here, but I'll definitely be back. Lots of creative beers and all of them were good. The "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" imperial milk stout was by far my favorite. Keep up the great work :) Cheers!

A great location that I frequent often. Bartenders are always friendly and fast to wait on you. Unfortunately I have to subtract a star for the hit and miss beer quality. I have had some GREAT beers here (Conversion and their recent English Dark Mild are top notch and some of my favorites), and I have had a few that just are not quite up to par. I wish there weren’t such a heavy focus on flavored speciality beers for a brewery that typically has a tap list on the small side. The only brewery I go to where there are times I struggle to find anything appealing on the draft list if I’m not in the mood for an IPA, and the rest of the list is some sorts of lactose sours.

Great beer selection and the service is top notch! A hole in the wall that is well worth checking out.
Matthew Brind'Amour
Great time. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fantastic beer. They're especially great with milkshake IPAs and smoothie sours but theyre other IPAs are too notch as well. Great place to grab a pint or a 4 pack and sit for a while.

Not much to eat, and what they do have is basically munchies to have with your beer. With that said, the food they have is a little over-priced for what you get. The beers that I had were ok, but nothing to write home about. Small & loud space (standing room only!) The night that I was there, the place was filled with mostly younger kids (all looked just about old enough to drink!) I'd say it must be a pretty hip spot... and I guess hip I'm not!

Really great beer that is brewed onsite. They have awesome flavors and variety! There isn't much food selection, but that's not their focus. Definitely worth a try, especially the back deck.

I've tried Hitchhiker's brews four times and found their beer to be watery and week tasting all four times. They don't taste bad; they just taste diluted. With the current surge and trendiness of craft beer, they'll survive and even thrive in Mt. Lebonan for a while. But when the trend dies down? If they want to be around for the long haul, they better get more flavor into their beer. With virtually no food, they need to be able to stand with their beer. I'm really rooting for this place, but after ample (4) chances and poor results, I'll be holding off for a while until they hopefully get some better recipes.

Just What Lebo Needed. Nice little brew pub tucked away next to Luma in Mt. Lebanon. Nice interior lay out with a modest amount of seating, no tables. Large black board announces the available beers, and they have a very good selection. I started with a very good German Kolsch, called Cobblestone. Nice malt body with a little sweetness and the right hop bite. I thought it was some what under carbonated. Next I had the Roadie, a IPA. My favorite (I'm a hop head). Excellent, with a lot of bitterness. New beers are constantly being produced and another black board lets you know which ones will be coming up. Snack selection is limited, but well thought out. Home made beer nuts, local jerky, cheese board, sliders, chile. I had the cheese board (see pic). A little skimpy for $12, but good. On Wednesday they usually have some special activity. Lately they've been tapping a cast conditioned beer that has had some spice or fruit macerating in it for 2 weeks. It is sort of a first come first serve since the cast is only good for that night. Great place, I will certainly be back.

The black IPA is fantastic as well as the brown ale. Glad an awesome brew pub is so close by. I think the price is worth it for the quality and freshness, keep up the good work.

Not Bad. I stopped in last Wednesday. This is a small place but nice inside. The bar is made from reclaimed barn wood. They had 8 beers on tap. The 3 I had, Roadie IPA, Tumbleweed Brown Ale and Keystone Common, were very good. The food selection is very limited and really the only thing holding this place back from becoming a great spot.
Effort
Some Nice Brews. Small with a bar and stools around the walls. Nice list of beers. There are only a few items to eat. The hummus and pita are from Pitaland. Had the homemade beer cheese and pretzels. Pretty good. The portion looked small but we ran out of pretzels before finishing the cheese. The homemade beer nuts are spicy and nice.
Someone in our group had the root beer and declared it one of the best they have had.

Price?. I went in to support the local small business. Upon entering, it was a bit awkward as I saw about 4-5 workers staring at me and ready to "take my order". Since this was my first time in the brewery I was not familiar with their offerings so I went up to the closest person and said this is my first time in...It turns out, I was talking to the owner. He is not a people person and it clearly shows. Best bet would be to talk to anyone else. He may be passionate about brewing beer, but he doesn't seem able to convey that passion to the customers with questions. Since it was all local I was expecting to try a few samples but they were not offered.

Eventually I ordered a small growler which is 32oz which is less than 3 cans of beer. It cost me $19 and change counting the growler bottle fee of $3 for the 32oz one. So essentially $16-$17 dollars for three local beers. The beer was very good and I enjoyed it, but at the same time the price seems pretty high for a quart of beer. Not sure I'll go back or not. I think in order to be successful, they are going to have to create more of a draw than just good expensive beer. Maybe music, pricing specials, events, etc. If not I think its going to be a tough uphill battle for the Hitchhiker Brewing Company.

Not impressed. From the previously written reviews, I guess this newly opened spot is a favorite with the locals. We stopped in to try their beer and a small plate. This is a very tiny spot, but there is a lot of seating around the perimeter with a narrow ledge for your beers and food. When we walked in, there were a few people at the bar seats. We stood there for a moment or two, and I guess I expected some sort of hello, have a seat wherever or welcome, we will be with you in a minute. No one said anything which was kind of awkward. Their beers and small menu are on a large chalkboard. We ordered 2 beers and a cheese plate. The beers were nice but I think I would have liked a little guidance in making a better selection. The cheese plate was tiny, but we enjoyed the olives and the sopressata. Maybe because of the convenience in a walking neighborhood, this spot will do well, but it not a place we will likely return to because we were expecting some conversation about the brewery and the beers made on the premises.

Great Beer!. We anticipated the opening of Hitchhiker for MONTHS being that it is so very close by. Loved the atmosphere (minimalist decor) and the deck is a huge draw during Pittsburgh's few lovely months. We tried the Saison and the Wit Bier and both were excellent. We ordered the cheese plate as a snack and it was underwhelming, will not order it again. It also took 20 minutes to arrive after going back to the bar to inquire. Most of the service was very friendly, particularly a young lady with dark glasses and short dark hair. We definitely look forward to going back for the beers!

First Visit Ups and Downs. I went to Hitchhiker for the first time on a Thurs Evening and the place was pretty crowded, which is nice to see. The beer was decent, but they were out of all the beers that I wanted to try, Black IPA, Roadie IPA, etc.. The tap system seemed to be a little dysfunctional, as well, not pouring consistently and some just barely dripping out of the tap. For a place that serves beer only, wouldn't you want to invest in a state of the art tap system??? I think they may have underestimated the market for their location, as I feel they could have gone a bit bigger. I guess financially you want to start small and grow from there? I feel that Hitchhiker has the capability to grow into a good local brand, but only if their management stays on top of things and really "runs" the business.

The beer was good, however, when I was there they teased us with a chalkboard full of brews and then only had 3 available. A friend had the hot dog meal which looked very good, but the unimpressive cheese plate lacked variety. Loved the outdoor patio!

The menu isn't extensive but it serves its purpose. The Korean style hot dogs are good as is the meat and cheese platter. It's a nice happy hour place.

Nice chill place with some good brews

A little Portland in Pittsburgh. Hitchhiker Brewing Company reminds me of a little pub (but Hitchhiker is better) in Portland called Coalition. Located on an active side street (Ankeny) in SE PDX Coalition manages to deliver big flavor in an intimate space. Hitchhiker does the same in Mt. Lebanon. The beers brewed by one of Pittsburgh's up and comers are all spectacular. The space isminimalist with an urban/rustic chic. Reclaimed barn wood, antique bulbs and 60's era draftsman stools give the place an understated vibe that would feel totally at home in PDX, Lawrenceville or Brooklyn. Hitchhiker is located in a really interesting crossroads location...Robert Johnson anyone.... The brewery sits at the intersection of Shady East and Castle Shannon. The view out the front window offers a cool perspective down Shady E to the Uptown business district (~5m walk from main drag). It should also be mentioned that downtown PGH residents can call this their hometown brewery too b/c two T stops (Poplar and MTL Stations) serve Hitchhiker. There is even a bike rack available for two wheelers. Ample street parking and if you are lucky enough to live near this gem...Mt. Lebanon is famous for its walkable nature = sidewalks everywhere! There is a great patio off the backside and garden seating on the side. Should be one of the best 'beer gardens' in town! Such a cool cool cool location!

The food is offered in a small plate format which is just fine. I look forward to a revolving list of choices with this format as the options are endless. Cheese/Meat boards, locally sourced sausages and pretzels were found on the bar when I was visiting. Nice.

This place is a brewery. The beer is some of the best I have had in Pittsburgh. It is on par with Roundabout and EEBC and that is saying a lot b/c those gents are top of the game nationally. This is the little brewery that can and does! Very excited to see what beers they churn out over the coming months.

Take a train, walk, cycle or drive to Hitchhiker as soon as you can. This is one Hitchhiker that is totally safe to pick up:)
