Review The Colombian Spot - Pittsburgh

Probably one of the best Columbian restaurants in town. Interesting decor with a cozy atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and courteous. The food was authentic, amazing and fast. Great cocktails too. Can't complain about my experience dining here. Definitely highly recommended.

I have discovered a hidden gem in Pittsburgh. They offers delightful and delicious food and drinks. However, I believe there is room for improvement in terms of their service. During my visit, I noticed that although there were three waiters, only one seemed to be actively working. I had to wait for more than 5 minutes to receive the menu. Despite this, I would still consider going again because the quality of the food makes it worth another visit.

These fried plantanes were excellent! Very good stuff. This 40 hour slow cooked pork was to die for. So good... loved that it was served sandwich style. The black bean soup wasn't anything to wrote home about. I was expecting more flavor. Happy to come back!

I really love the food and go often but lately the service has been low vibrational and the energy of the wait staff has changed drastically and it has affected my appetite.

Located right on E Carson Street. If you’ve never had authentic Colombian food, come try it here! The Colombian Spot has great food, nice staff, and a comfy atmosphere. Everything about the restaurant is authentic. The empanadas and paisa were delicious!

2021 review: I came here last week with my husband and friends for lunch. The food was amazing, as amazing as I remembered it from 2 years ago. Their green garlic sauce is the bomb, it's the perfect sauce for every dish and side. I ordered the ROPA VIEJA and it was awesome! Their fried plantains and sweet plantains are very well done, and their juices are made in house and fresh. I didn't like the passion fruit juice (not sweet enough) but the guava juice was amazing. the 2019 review: I came here for dinner with my old friend. First of all, we we're the only people eating dinner at the from 5:30 to 7:00 on a Tuesday. I was suspicious because does that mean it's a bad restaurant? But then I realize most people do take out from this restaurant. There was only one server who was working that evening, who answered tons of phone calls for take out and served us at the same time. The food is Mexican and it was very good! They offer many choices for meat eaters, vegetarians, and those that are gluten free. Two problems came up. First, they messed up my friend's appetizer. She ordered a vegetarian appetizer, but the kitchen made her a beef one. Second, the server forgot to get my friend orange juice. Third, the server was using her memory to take our order - she didn't even have a notebook and pen to take down what we wanted. That may have been the reason why the first two problems happened. Overall, great food but questionable service.

Great place but don't bother making a reservation. We have done it 3 times now and they have forgotten about us every time. This last time we made a reservation for 7 at 730 and they sat a group of 7 without a reservation before us at 730 and then we got to stand there and wait until someone decided to speak to us. They always seem surprised that reservations exist.

Just went for lunch with a friend on Tuesday. I’ve had my eye on this restaurant for awhile. Perfect time to go to the Southside and not be stressed out by traffic and parking and construction. It was so bright and pleasant inside. The food was delicious and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I suggest you go with a group and try as much on the menu as possible. The menu is very descriptive and easy to navigate if you are not familiar with the cuisine. If you like hot’n spicy they have an extra sauce that’s not on the table to pair with your food. We really enjoyed the tea and our alcoholic beverages were delicious. The margarita was perfect and my friend enjoyed her mojito. Everything is made fresh, from scratch. We left full and did not even have room for dessert. Maybe next time...Highly recommended. Fun, friendly, casual place to eat.

My gf and I were in town for the weekend. She is from the DR, we searched dominican food and found this amazing spot. The food is friggin legit!!!!! I will definitely be coming here again next time I'm in town for work, absolutely amazing food and staff.

Delicious food and a great dining experience. We walked in knowing nothing about the place. Music was loud enough that you couldn't hear other tables while still allowing us to hear each other. There were some color-changing lights, too. ALERGEN INFO: The menu is 80 percent gluten free and the items that are not are marked with a wheat symbol!! I have never seen this before, and I have a brother with celiac. The menu also says to make the server aware of any allergies. I would feel very safe taking my brother here. The menu has authentic meals as well as some more American-friendly street food options like burgers. The drinks were delicious! I had a coconut lemonade. My food was enough for 3 meals so if you order some of the bigger items you can absolutely share with the table if you'd like. The table comes with hot sauce and some yummy cream sauces. Service charge was included (we think that means you don't have to tip extra but we were confused about if we needed to tip or not). I highly recommend this place!

Came with a group of 8 including two young kids. Everyone really enjoyed the food including a few ppl who are quite picky. There was nothing left by the end. Our server Poncho gave great suggestions and was very friendly. This place will be a regular for us.

The food was incredible. Their arepas were easily the best I've ever eaten. The music was fantastic, the place was clean, and the service was friendly and professional. The only "issue" is that the food took a while to get to us. The long wait was absolutely worth it imo, and if it was just us out on the town it would have been fine, but I wouldn't go there for a lunch break unless I had more than an hour again. Just to make sure I had time to get my food and eat it too. So just be careful if you go there for your lunch break! But I can't wait to go back again and try more arepas!

The service wasn't super fast and the food took a little while, but it's our go to spot for arepas and Colombian food whenever we're in Pittsburgh. The staff is very friendly and the juice drinks are fantastic. Arepas don't always sit well with me, but there are plenty of options that are also great.

Great assortment of traditional Columbian fare in a warm casual setting. The empanadas are AMAZING and their chorizo is TOP NOTCH!
