I used to come to this place for the lamb gyro, fries and a drink special when I started work in 1992.
Decided to try them again, still to this day they can make a good gyro special where you get a custom gyro (I like grilled onions and hot sauce), with fries and a drink for a good price.
The food and friendly service is good, the inside seating, decor and moving dollys could use an overhaul, hoping they can modernize that soon now that they have the Babcock Blvd new restaurant opened up.
If you are downtown and want a great gyro special, this place is a must try. Just get it to ho or eat in but ihnore the decor and age of the place.

Went today for lunch. Fries were well cooked (crispy and hot) and the gyro was stuffed full. Decent price for what you get as I got the combo with fries and drink. They do charge a fee if you want to use a credit card ($4), so make sure you have cash.

I am glad I found this restaurant. Everything we tried was good. The steak was so good and tasty, the gyro plate and spinach pie were good too. There is no need to mention french fries as they are my favorite irrespective of the restaurant.

If Mike and John weren't behind the counter, things may look and feel hectic. These 2 gents make sure everything goes on without a hitch. The food, is by far, better than Southside. The atmosphere of being able to sit down and enjoy my gyro puts this Mike and Tony's at the top of the list.

My husband wanted to grab a gyro, but after looking at the menu and seeing french fries, I totally poo-poo’d his decision. We went anyway— I ordered the pierogis as a snack, he got the gyro meal and fried mushrooms. Everything was very tasty. He was impressed with the amount of meat they used (see photos). The guys at the counter were very helpful and friendly, adding to our positive experience.

Solid gyro, very generous with the meat and sauce. Fries were crispy and fresh. The meal came out in like 2 minutes so very quick. Be aware that it's cash only, but they do have an ATM in there.

OH EM GEE!! The best and biggest gyro I have ever had hands down.
This is definitely my new gyro place and I live an hour away.

Cash only place. But has an ATM inside the shop. Gyro's are the best in town. Special costs 9$ that comes with a Gyro, Fries and drink. Just Gyros then it's 5.50$ but special fills you up.

Whenever a restaurant takes cash only, I worry that if I buy something I will accidentally be supporting an underground drug operation and once the police raid the place it will be game over and me and my sandwich will be tazed and spend life behind bars.
But, if the food smells good enough I risk it. This gyro was worth the risk.

Finally a store that doesn't sneer at cash. Stay local. Stop the corrupt bankers and support business like this instead of Blackrock franchises. Oh great fries!

Paid 5 bucks for 4 onion rings but the burger was kinda good off the grill.. no parking except a couple spots in front if you are lucky. It's a busy downtown street.

Polite ppl. Fast service. Close to the trolley and bus stops. Quiet inside. Reasonable prices.

Old school cool lunch place. Tasty gyro. Cash only, but that feels like part of its charm.

Best gyro in 215 miles. (Except for south side location; moon spot not as awesome)

Whether I'm here or on the southside, can NOT go wrong with Mike & Tony's. I've been getting their gyros since I was in high school and they've had THE BEST gyro the entire time. Here we are 10 or so years later and I bring all of my outta town friends by for a bite. Not a single one has yet to disagree about this being the #1 gyro spot. I work downtown now, and it's challenging trying not to eat here numerous times a week. Staff is great and the food is even better. Thank you Michael and thank you Antonio. I appreciate your dedication to the craft!

The food was good, everything on their special was worked well. for new people introduced to gyro's definitely a place to try your first gyro, before entering a fancy gyro restaurant. fries cooked well, makes you stuffed but want more. the cash only system is a great system, but could use investmen. The no phone service is amazing and needs applied more to every restaurant.
Ex. Note: the sauces need a variety and that's all to match fries and gyro's
Hodor
One of the best gyros I've had. Prices are very reasonable especially for downtown. Only downfall is cash only and their atm is always broken.

I cannot say that I have ever had an experience with a restaurant like the one I had with this one. Let me start by saying that I order from this restaurant, located in Bridgeville, PA, at least twice a week, the same thing...a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and gyro meat. That's it, 4 ingredients. My husband called into the restaurant to place the order, and was immediately faced with a seemingly confused woman on the other end of the phone taking his order. That's cool, people have bad days. Whatever. He went to pick up the order and found that there was a gyro sandwich in place of the salad. He informed this same woman that he, in fact, ordered a salad. She said "no you didn't." Ok, well yes he did, but we'll play along. He calls me from the restaurant and asks me what it was I wanted in my salad. He knows this because I order it twice a week, as mentioned. I hear the woman in the background raising her voice, which at the time confused my husband and me. My husband tells me that the woman will not place the order until he states the name of the salad first. He tells her he's not sure of the salad's proper name, but that it was made up of the 4 ingredients. She did not like this apparently, argued with him some more....ARGUED. Leading my husband to canceling the order. I call the restaurant afterwards to speak to the manager, and to report this person's poor customer service. I ask the person on the phone if she was the manager, she says yes, and then I proceed to tell her my experience. She tells me "that was me!" Referring to the person arguing with my husband. I ask her what the problem with the order was, and she begins arguing with me. Well, once provoked, I decide to give it back to her. I insisted on being given the owners contact number, only to be informed that I am now BANNED from the restaurant. I am a well known respected member in my community, and never have been banned from anything. It gets better...I asked around to find out who this new person is, and why this establishment named her manager when she cannot manage her own behavior. I am told this woman is part OWNER of Mike & Tony's in Bridgeville. Yikes! I have never been provoked into a screaming match on the phone with a restaurant while placing an order.
Best gyro in Pittsburgh. Enough said.
Yinzer76
Best gyros around the burgh Cheap and fast. Always a great treat and always open late night Tuesday thru Saturday Nothing better after a night in the Southside!!!
Martha
Delicioso!!!. WOW! The very best Gyro I have ever had!! This is definitely a spot I will be going back too. Finally another place I can gladly frequent.

Best Gyros in the burgh. If you are in need of some gyro in downtown Pittsburgh there is no better place. Ambiance is lack at Mike and Tony's but luckily the gyros are not. You get a ton of gyro meat and their cucumber sauce is fantastic. The fries that come with a platter are always well cooked. A lack of free refills is about the only knock on this place but it's a minor one. Mike and Tomy' s never disappoints.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Fantabulous!!!!!!!

Ew, that smell. Can't get past the stench. Smells like a combination of ten year old grease and urinal cake when you walk in the door. Disgusting.
Ed Philips
Great! Great! Great! Wonderful people, great service, and awesome food!!! Only place to get a GREAT gyro. No other place comes close.
HeyNow
Big portions & great price. The decor is dated and a bit scrungy. I would seriously think of redecorating if I owned the place. Bathrooms are a little gross. Other than that, the food is really great and the portions are huge. It may seem a little steep at first, but they make up for it w/ the portions.
ASRoma58
Great Quick Stop. This is a great spot to stop and grab something a move along. Great thing is you can see the lamb rotating on a vertical spit near the front of the store! Highly recommend trying this place out for a quick bite. Don't wear your nice clothes because it is so good you will want to get messy!
Tom
YUM!. It's a little greasy... but MAN IS IT GOOD! Again... the decor leaves something to be desired. But the food is great.
AlexW
Great lunch joint. Its $6.50 for a gyro, fries, and a drink. The gyro kicks some serious ass.
Pete C
Good gyro at a great price. 4.60 for a gyro and there is definately no skimping on the meat. Probably the meatiest gyro I've ever had.
Phil
Best Gyro in Pittsburgh. I have been going to Mike and Tony's for years and everytime I am impressed. It's seriously hard to have a gyro somewhere else after eating here. The portion size is great and the price is right and the wait is short

My only complaint is if you are drinking and go there they will almost always try and skim a buck or two from you in short change. Price you pay for great lamb meat i guess!
World Food Cruiser
There's something about being out east when it comes to food. Generally speaking, the food is better out east. I guess it has to with larger populations and greater sophistication for authentic food. Mike & Tony's seems to fit the stereotypical east coast brusque food service but with commensurate good food.
@PghBrian
Mike & Tony’s Gyros not only has arguably the best gyros in downtown Pittsburgh, but also care pierogies from Pierogis Plus.
