Always a great dining experience! Staff is friendly and accommodating, food is superb. I highly recommend the “Angry Hippie”.

Food was good and the margaritas did the job didn’t like that I couldn’t have a beer and margarita at the same time but I guess they had problems in the past

This is your typical Tex-Mex restaurant. I’m giving it 5 stars because we’ve never had bad service here, and I’ve been coming to this location for over 21 years now. If you’re looking for “real” Mexican food, there are certainly more authentic joints in the greater Pittsburgh area. What I love about Mad Mex is that it’s near the museums and Pitt which we visit often being alumni, and the prices are very reasonable for the portions you get. If you come at peak times, you will wait as this location is small. But hey, if you choose to come when it’s busy, then exercise some patience and restraint with your review. At any rate, thanks Josh for a pleasant experience today. Wish you all the best with your studies at Pitt.

Great Mexican food. Original store in a small local chain. Good special. Great frozen margaritas. Lunch options are fantastic. Very good value for money. Nice draft beers too. Fresh ingredients are used and you can taste that.salsa is awesome. I wouldn't call it authentic Mexican food but the closest I've tasted in years.

Last two times the food was amazing. It may have been because the first meal was free and the second was highly discounted because I managed to get on their mailing list. The place is small and dark with the entire showcase being the bar. There are a few large and a few medium/small tables so you can sit and chat. This place is the best for a nice meal and drink before headed out and cool spot for a social drink before headed home. Limited Street parking in front. 2-3 in the actual back (might be for crew) Various random parking within area just gotta hunt.

Great food! So many vegan options! Tofu for the burritos. Vegan cheese and sour cream options. Even seitan! The soy seitan wings were very sweet. Will try their spicy flavors next time.

Mad Mex is pretty good. I got the chimichanga and it was good, nothing special but not bad! But the frozen margs were great! Definitely more on the pricey side for no reason though

The Crab quesadilla was quite good, and I was impressed by the apple cider margarita with the salted caramel rim. We got the trio of dips with chips for an appetizer and the spicy queso and guac were very good. The blue cornbread was amazing, and seemed like it was just cooked fresh.

It's corn season! Same Mad Mex as always, but now with a bunch of seasonal grilled corn dishes. This is the chicken and corn burrito with a grilled corn salsa on the side. And a patron margarita, because. Mad Mex is a Pittsburgh fixture, and for good reason. Great food, good beer selection, great margaritas. The Oakland location is the OG Mad Mex that started it all. It's much smaller than the other ones, it has a smaller draft selection and it has more of a bar sort of feel. But if you're in Oakland, it's still the same great food and drinks. And I think the Oakland location has a lot more late night bargains and other student-focused deals.

Great food. Great beers. Great place. Mad Mex is a long-standing Pittsburgh gem. Get the Gobblerito if it’s on the menu. If it’s not, come back in November.

Some of my favorite food in Pittsburgh, I always make sure to go when I'm in town. The staff always has a great attitude and the restaurant is in a great location.
