I visit Pittsburgh about 2 times every year and I always stop by this restaurant for their delicious food when I'm in the area! I am Taiwanese who lived in Taiwan for the great majority of my life. The food here is spot on and authentic! For appetizers, I ordered (A16) fried tempura and (A12) fried stinky tofu--The flavor really brings back the happy memories of strolling around the Taiwanese night markets! For main courses I got (T3) Fried chicken and egg noodles soup and (O6) Hot pepper stir fried with beef over rice. I highly recommend both main courses! If you are in the area and are looking for authentic Taiwanese/Szechuan cuisine, you should stop by this place!

Generally great food! We tried chicken with basil and garlic, fish filet sweet and sour sauce and steamed mini soup dumpling, all are very good, highly recommend. The only thing is it's a bit crowded inside and desks are too close to each other.

First time visiting Pittsburgh and this place was highly recommended on the South Side. Our server was such a sweet lady and she gave us recommendations on what to chose from the menu. I recommend any of the hot pots and the noodle soups especially as it gets colder, it will warm you up. Please get the scallion pancakes, I could eat those everyday.

Awesome flavors at affordable prices! This place is really a hidden gem. It was packed when we arrived but food comes out quickly and a table opened up for us on the patio right away. The menu is pretty robust, and we were very satisfied with everything we ordered.
UPDATE: we came back a second time, and the food was just as good, service was just as quick, and the atmosphere was just as chill!! Highly recommend!

Came on Christmas Eve when it was pretty busy and the food still came out in a timely manner and was great! If you order the crab meat and tofu soup, be sure to ask for vinegar to go with it.

Visited from NY and Toronto for the weekend. This was our best meal in Pittsburgh. The flavors did not disappoint. We ordered soup dumplings, popcorn chicken, salt and pepper squid, fried rice, special noodle soup, and the original milk tea.
The initial wait wasn’t long at all for how busy it is ~ 5 mins. There’s a huge diversity of customers, which brings a great bustling energy.

So yummy and inexpensive! Highly recommend beef noodle soup (mild spicy), eggplants and fried chicken!!
Very busy and crowded on both lunch and dinner time.

Traveled to Pittsburgh to try this Taiwanese spot and was not disappointed. Some really authentic and delicious dishes.
Salted egg pork tips: 5/5 super good and crispy. Vegetables in it were nice and refreshing
Fried chicken cutlet in garlic sauce: 5/5 so good and crispy. Delicious and flavorful sauce
Scallion pancake beef wrap: 3/5. Nothing special but it was good. Wasn’t the most crispy and had better scallion pancakes
Service was great and was happy. Will definitely come back!

The food was really good! The service was a little weird though. We were a larger group and got a reservation ahead of time When we arrived, the server asked us to circle one menu with what we wanted to order, so one large check was given at the end, we didn't have the option to split it. But that's not the worst part, in my opinion. As a group, you would think they would try to bring our food relatively all together, but most of us were done eating and one of our friends hadn't gotten their dish yet. It just made it awkward. They forgot our 3 bobas and we had to re-ask the server for them 30 min later. The boba wasn't great, especially the bean boba. The food though!!! SO GOOD! It is worth the food and the vibe. Portions are large, so the pricing is reasonable. I had leftovers for lunch the next day.

This’s my favorite chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh. I love their Scallion Pancake W.
Beef. The service isn’t super friendly but the food was amazing. The ambiance is pretty nice and you can hear the other person without being too loud.

Ive been looking for an authentic chinese/taiwanese spot in pittsburgh for a while and i finally found it. The food is higher in price but comparable in quality to the food at my favorite NY and DC restaurants, but authenticity is rare in pittsburgh so id say its worth it. The time i went it was packed with people, and yet still had fantastic service

I eat at Cafe 33 about 4 times a year coinciding with the start and end of the semester. The food is always excellent. Personal favorites are E4 - Spicy Squid and C1 - Three Cups Chicken. Definitely recommend.

My fiance and I had a late lunch together with her 2 teen boys and the elder son's girlfriend. We shared family style appetizers and entrees recommended by our outstanding and very personable waitress. She gave all of us chopsticks lessons, which was very cool. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Loved the small and intimate atmosphere. Felt like we were guests eating in the dining room at at the home of a friend. We WILL be back!!

My boyfriend and I tried this place walking by today for sunday lunch. It was amazing and the service was wonderful. We will definitely be back.

They have the most authentic Taiwanese (and some Chinese) food in Pittsburgh metro area. Their beef noodle soup is comparable to the one you can get from Chinatown, NYC!

So happy to see a packed house on a Friday night! Short wait, which was totally worth it for their food and friendly service. I've been recommending them like crazy and already can't wait to go back.
Tried steamed pork bun, fried dumplings, mustard green soup with pork, and stir-fried rice cakes with beef. All A+!

By 6:30 pm on Thursday the place is totally filled up! They had to put up another row of tables. Very nice and tastefully decorated place, nice quiet music, good food reasonably priced. Extremely helpful and friendly stuff.

Sad to leave Pittsburgh, leave Cafe 33 we saw it open and started getting so popular since day 1. We live only a block away, so we’ve been visiting Cafe 33 at least once a week. To us, it’s no double the most authentic Chinese/Taiwanese restaurant in Pittsburgh. The owners and all the wait staff there are super nice too. They kind of make us feel like they are family... it will remain to be one of our best memories of Pittsburgh!
