Got caught driving late at night with my elderly parents and wife, we were by Kingston and called some motels and one called super 8 if i remember correctly answered the phone and seemed rude, skipped that place. Called some other and they were booked I decided to look further up North and called the Colonial Inn they had availability for the night. About 3 minute drive from Kingston NY. Got there around 10:30pm and little did I know this place would be full of life upon arriving!! I was expecting a typical inn/motel and wow was I in a for an amazing surprise. When you pull up it seems like its just a big ole’ house and essentially it is, but this has a nice twist, its a 1790 construction turned into god know how many businesses throughout its history, but its currently an inn. I walked in and just the front yard left me mouth opened, relics everywhere, a collection of a gone by era. When you come in, you just get shocked at the amount of old objects that surround you.!! I fell in love with this place and right then and there i KNEW I HAD TO STAY HERE! Met with Heather and shes very accommodating and showed us our rooms. The place has a very nice bar with all liquors served and beer of course. I came back down to just admire the place and there so many things to look at i am sure i missed many objects!! Owner invited me by the bar and this is a hang out spot for locals and everyone, was super friendly, I really loved this place. Everyone was having a drink, laughing cheering and just chatting away. Get this, owner bought me a drink!! The owner Steve in my book is a legend! This man is 82 and still works on the place, cooks and has such a beautiful soul! I would go back just to talk to this man! Turns out we went to the same school but at different eras of course! What an amazing man! God bless him. Oh yes I forgot to describe rooms, the place is very old so if you’re into fancy, corporate style boring motels/hotels please stay away, this place has character! Yes floors creak but people in the 1790s walked them floors! The bed in my room was so comfortable and my room was nice and warm! Showers were hot and did I mention I loved this place? Day after me and family woke up and Steve, owner, cooked us breakfast and can he cook !!! Better breakfast than a corporate restaurant!! This place is a hidden gem, Steve makes the place along with his daughter I do hope customers know how nice it is to stay at a family run business, but here is the thing, this place doesn’t even feel like a business. We felt like Steve asked us to stay over. I hope I have time to go back and stay. The town itself is tiny but very accommodating. Make sure you visit the Mexican restaurant across the street.

We loved our, and so did Buddy. En route to Dryden, New York by means of route 28. Stopped in Kingston for a stroll and shopping in Half Moon Books. Drove around the magnificent Ashokan Reservoir. Purchased Maple Spirit from Union Grove. Never felt so comfortable than at Colonial Inn. The bar was terrific with the the locals, Buddy and the absolute best music on the jukebox. Would have played the free pool table if we hadn't been so interested in the conversation. The breakfast of eggs, bacon, pancakes and coffee was a perfect send off the next day. Will visit again; they are family. A year has past, but not our memory. I've never remembered any other hotel, or hotel chain as much as I have missed the Inn!

Had a great stay at the Colonial Inn! The entire space is like your favorite Great Aunt's house who antiques way too often, puts them everywhere, and is going to make the will and estate splitting a nightmare. Heather and Steve were great hosts and very helpful! We even got a drink on the house. We were also able to spend time with Sweet Pea the bird and Ella the dog. The food was hot and good, the beds comfy, and the water hot. It's a comfy, homey, quirky space that could use some updating but overall a great place to stay!

Just next to Belleayers ski resort. Pine Hill is a very cute town, and Steve is an awesome host. Earl makes delicious breakfast.

We’ve been here twice and we are certainly making it a tradition for the memorial weekend each year! It’s a family type accommodation where they serve you a delicious homemade breakfast!! They are all very nice and welcoming and the place is from another dimension! Very authentic! It’s like going to a museum! We absolutely love it! If asked why don’t you want to try something else? The answer is why try something else when you already love a place right?

Met up with friends here for a hiking weekend and absolutely loved the place. It is not a 5-star hotel, but it is eclectic and homey. Upon arriving, I was a bit worried because the outside looks dilapidated, dirty and plain. But like the previous reviewer Eric stated, its like Tardis. Once you step inside, there are no words to describe the place. Filled with antiques from all over the world, vintage decor, old time jukebox and a nostalgic vibe - plenty of eye candy. The rooms were tidy and clean. Steve, the owner was gracious and kind - even offering us a drink on the house. Loved the bar area, the dogs and Sweet Pea, the conur parrot. Breakfast service of 'the works' was great - included french toast, bacon, sausage patty, eggs, coffee and juice - homestyle. I love this place and next time I'm in the catskills, I definitely will stay here again.

Great buffet dinner! There was a reasonably wide selection of dishes (enough to end up accidentally eating way too much), and they were all delicious. The home-made desserts were especially nice. There were also two adorable dogs walking around that occasionally came up to us to be petted. The one unpleasant surprise was being charged for water, which I didn't think was normally done in the US, but considering the buffet price was reasonable, we were mostly fine with this. Overall a great experience!

Bizarre, eclectic, eccentric, unconventional. Unless you are a Time Lord and have been inside of a TARDIS, there is no conventional way to explain this place. It's like taking a tour of the Addams Family mansion. Never rented a room. Never ate there. But the bar experience was fantastic. Embark on a voyage to the Catskills and make this one of your destinations.

My husband and I hosted our small wedding in Pine Hill this past August, in large part because of the magical aura and warm and friendly people at the Colonial Inn. We even shot some of our wedding portraits here! Our friends and family absolutely loved this quirky and eccentric place -- be prepared for an experience unlike anything else, and some of the best hospitality in the Catskills.

Do not expect a five star experience but it has so much personality. The bar is great good prices good people and pool, darts and the Jukebox is free. The place is decorated from floor to ceiling with awesome old timey items. The owner is a great person with great stories to tell. There is plenty to do nearby Check out the world's biggest kaleidoscope. And some of the great hiking trails
