The hostess/server was nice, really nice and provided great service, the food wasn't super impressive...but not super terrible. The steak was nooooot worth it. It was paper thin and very over cooked. And my potato was hard as a rock and not cooked enough. Our friends said the Mac and cheese and bread was good. One friend said the meat was dry and one person in our party said his stacker sandwich was amazing but the fries were soggy. So it seems like a hit or miss type of place. I would try again to see what a second experience would be like.

We have eaten here several times and loved the food…we are about 45 minutes away and arrived at 7:35 and were told they would not cook anymore and we were only allowed to get the buffet. Their hours state they are open until 8, therefore twe should have been able to order off the menu.

I started coming to this place a couple years ago. I really enjoyed it,there are not many places to get steak in Pickens so that's what drew me to the gatehouse. Recently it has not been that great to be honest. Last time I went I got the ribeye which I normally do,and when I paid she said the prices went up and my total was $40 for one steak! I didn't say anything bc prices went up everywhere. But the problem was the steak was small and cooked horrible. It's like a boiled steak not seared or anything. If your prices are going to be that high the quality needs to be up to par as well,would not pay that again for what I received!

Food always seems to be great here and a really good value. I feel like this is one of Pickens' best kept secrets. If you're in town I definitely recommend stopping by.

Great place to eat if you're geriatric and like food that has absolutely no taste and now it's all that horrible buffet .only thing wot eating on it is the barbecue and even that isn't as good as it once was
