First time here. An Uber driver recommended it lol as I was looking for a restaurant in pheonix that served african food. I loved the huge amounts of food ( as I am a foodie 😋) , affordable prices. Above all, the food was flavorful, and the host/ manager was very friendly. We will be coming back for sure.
Friendly service and great menu recommendations! We dropped by and didn’t know anything about Somali food. The Sambusas are an amazing appetizer and the Chicken Shawarma was almost too much to finish in one setting! So glad we got out of our comfort zone and tried something new. Great experience that brought our group back twice more.

OK, so we like trying different things, and we are not afraid to try anything. Waamo is a different place. We walked in and felt out of place but tried it anyway. The people we supper nice, helpful and easy to talk to. We ordered and food was quick. The food was great, we loved every bit of it. We really enjoyed the place and will go back. The atmosphere needs so.e help as it appears they setup on a very tight budget. I understand this because we all don't have that kind of money and need to start somewhere. It really is a place to try, you might like it and go back.
Never had Somali food before, stopped by today for dinner since we did a day at the zoo. Super glad we did. Got the beef sukkara, lamb shank and waamo plate with rice. All good stuff.
Had the lamb and a ginger drink, both very good. I was a bit short on cash and they still let me have the drink. I'm getting the goat next time

Very nice restaurant with Somali and Halal foods. Stuff were friendly and welcoming! I will definitely recommend it and go back again!
Highly recommend the sukar dishes. We've tried the goat, beef, chicken and fish sukar. They are very flavorful without being hot. If you want more heat, they serve this delicious green chili paste.
The kids love the pasta they make. Delicious food and friendly people!
I do wish they could renovate the bathroom. :-/
