Best Afghani food ever! Had a feast and reasonable price for all with kabobs for two and they had chai which was delicious Along with mantoo a great appetizer - doesn’t get better than this place
Not only is there food amazing with a plethora of flavor. You feel like you are at home with the excellent service. My wife and I have dying here several times and have never left unimpressed.
As I sit here eating my still-delectable leftovers from last night, I am called to stop what I’m doing. I must share with you just how high my opinion of this place is.
Despite being short-staffed, our waitress was extremely pleasant and playful, and the food is quite possibly the best Indian-style I’ve had in all of Phoenix, truly.
The only thing that could have made our experience better is if the TV wasn’t playing garden-variety, “if it bleeds it leads” cable news.
I will return to Hilal Grill and hope to receive the same incredible food and friendly service again & again. Thanks for being here!

Food was tasty but some of the Indian dish were definitely not what I’d expect taste wise. This restaurant’s flavors are definitely a fusion of their own. I’d order takeout from here.
Was recommended this place by someone else. Food was good, not too heavy on the spices which I appreciated. Serving size was substantial for the malai boti, would prefer a larger serving size for 2 people for the chicken karahi.
The food is good. However probably Afghani style food is a little less roasted with spices. It's my habit to have spicy things, so i felt like some of the things needed more cooking.
I added additional chilli in every dish cause i found them a little less spicy. But overall i wouldn't say the food has something wrong.
But there was surely a shortage of items for a buffet. Probably 12 or 14 items and I don't eat any other meat than chicken, so I looked for chicken items only, so for me there was only chicken curry.
The environment looked shady from outside but it was nicer and cooler inside.
The service men were very energetic about maintaining everything for a small scale business. I would say they are doing a good job.
The buffet is only on Sunday, and it is $24 for each person.
Food is delicious. Service was great. Atmosphere was really nice. Their fountain drinks were perfectly cool and carbonated with the perfect amount of flavor. The Afghani rice is delicious as is The chicken tiki masala. I strongly recommend trying this place out.
We ate here the first night in Phenoix, Arizona. This is a great causal (but could definitely dress up as well). The atmosphere was welcoming, and the food was delicious as well. I must admit I was a little concerned that when our food came out, it didn’t look exactly like I am used to. However, the flavor was just as I anticipated. Lastly, the pricing is really great, and the portions are larger. If you are an Indian food fan, I highly recommend checking them out.
The food was delicious, well cooked, tasty and hot. A good virility. Not thrilled about the paper plates, but the food made up for it. Large location.
Went to Hilal Grill's new barbecue experience on Friday, and it was amazing! The meat was grilled to order over a coal fire and served with fresh homemade bread. They also have a delicious chicken karahi served hot in the karahi bowl (see photo) - so good!!
The owners are always friendly and make everyone feel welcome. The ambiance is great, with outdoor seating on traditional cots, music, and patio lighting. The best part is that a lot of people from the community come out with their families to enjoy the evening together.
Overall, the Friiday BBQ is a very special and unique event. So grateful that it's right here in Phoenix.
Very nice halal place to have various delicious items. Place has been very decent with melodious music playing and the staff has been very supportive. Tried lamb kabab and it was good, the style of food is different as it’s from afghan and Pakistan. Truly enjoyed the food here,
Chicken biryani & chai tea take out - so tasty!! The chicken was so juicy & flavorful. Practically the entire menu is GF too for those who enjoy that.
