Review District American Kitchen & Wine Bar - Phoenix

This place is amazing honestly, it's such a beautiful sight on the inside as the view they have on the outside. We came for Thanksgiving Dinner which is a fixed menu. The appetizers were fresh, crisp garden salads. Our Entree was amazing juicy turkey😍, not dried out, with smashed potatoes and gravy😍 and other stuff 🤣 The dessert I can't remember what it was called, but it tasted like mini chocolate pumpkin pie and had a caramel sauce with it 😍 the wine, Chardonnay, was the best I've had and fresh aswell... I can actually say I have nothing bad to say about this place😙😙😙 **Just a heads up. If you plan on eating here, this is an "upscale" restaurant so the prices vary. Our dinner of 7 came to $500 with a sr discount and it was a set menu.**

Nice atmosphere. Jason was our server and was very attentive...in a good way. He gave honest feedback when we had questions. Absolutely delicious cocktails. I had the strawberry moonshine mojito and my husband had the blood orange Collins. For dinner I had the country fried pork chops. The mustard sauce was so yummy and the breading on the pork wasn't too dense or greasy. The mashed potatoes were super smooth and creamy. My husband had the short rib stroganoff... delicious sauce and the meat was very tender. Dessert was awesome! We had the lemon chiffon bomb which was extremely unique, vibrant, and fu of flavor surprises. It was like a dessert with secrets. We also had the chocolate mousse cake...decadent and moist. The pastry chef has it going on. Will definitely be back

Very nice restaurant with plenty of seating for large groups. The food is good with some great menu items. I found the pink peppered pork to be a little under seasoned. However, everything else was especially good. I really liked the sweet potato mash. Service was very nice.

Tasty food options and a unique drink created every day of the week. Their happy hour menu is pretty stellar with great food and drink options. The service is always top notch. Jeff and Meagan are both extremely pleasant to talk to and provide ‘top shelf’ service.

Very good wine list with a couple of AZ wines by the glass. The food we tried was also very good, with the $22 specials being a reasonable price for the area. The short rib stroganoff was pretty good but could have used more sauce. Desserts were good as well.

Loved the service. Five stars on ambiance, service and cleanliness. The food was very good, cooked perfect, but the playing was not quite 5 stars, though closer to 5 than 4. Were had a great time.

Location, Food, Service is of topmost quality. Food portions are not too big or small, just the right amount. Service is topnotch. Highly recommended. Try their creme burlee. It's delicious.

Stop by for the lunch special, everything for $9! Affordable, but fries and things cost extra. The salmon is an excellent choice.

I have been here dozens of times and every single dish I've had was awesome. Excellent staff too!

A great place for lunch during weekdays, especially when you are in a conference in PHX convention center. It's close and they offer " everything below 9 dollars" for lunch. Great deals for salmon and steaks.

I was here last week with my coworkers and we really had a great time and dinner that night. I have tried their salmon dish and it tastes really good. This restaurant is probably one of the best American restaurants on my favorite list. Their foods, their setup, and the entire restaurant is so attractive not to mention the good and fast services their staff do.

When I worked across the street my favorite thing to do was come here for the lunch special. I believe the steak was only around $10 and I would order it with a side of sweet potato fries. One of my favorite meals ever!! Great, professional and classy ambience as well.

An upscale restaurant with great tasting food. I've had the steak as well as the salmon here. Both were prepared to perfection. Just the right amount of portion, in my opinion. They offer a good variety, to include burgers and such for the kids.

Visited District American Kitchen before going to a show at Comerica Theater. Relatively close and moderately upscale, which made it the perfect option. Great ambience, super friendly and accommodating staff. Food was good, thought we only had appetizers and champagne. We would definitely recommend and return. Hopefully we will be able to explore the menu a bit more.

I came for lunch in between sessions at a conference. I ordered a lemonade and Texas Brisket Tacos. The 3 tacos were small but tasty, stuffed with fresh ingredients. I ordered key lime pie for dessert. This was good but not a slice as I was expecting. It was more in a circle instead. The emphasis of the flavors was more on the additional playing items like the mango puree and coconut than it was on the pie itself. The crust, if you could call it that, was hardened white chocolate. If I hadn't ordered it as a key lime pie, I never would've guessed that that was what it was. Despite the oddity and slight let down on the dessert, the staff were prompt and unobtrusive, and I was seated immediately. There would have been no problem getting in and out in half an hour if that had been the goal.

Great before a show

An excellent restaurant with good food and service (especially from Alexis). Located in the Sheraton Hotel across the street from the major theater venues, it is the ideal before the perormance place to have dinner. Parking fee is reduced with validation.

Had a really nice dinner here with a business colleague. We split the Brussel Sprouts Salad to start. She had the scallops, I had the rib eye with au gratin potatoes, and we split a huckleberry bread pudding for dessert. They had a very robust wine list. Great service. Thumbs up all around!

$9.00 Lunches. All the lunches are $9.00 at 12:00. I had the harvest salad. All the greens were fresh. The chicken seemed made a head of time and was ok but didn't have much flavor to it. My husband had the mac-n-cheese. He said the sauce was very thin but did have some tasty hot links in it. I did notice the lunch items vary very much in size like the salads and battered fish dish are large and the quesadilla is extremely small. The atmosphere is roomy and attractive.

Great dinner!. Thanks for all of the gluten free options!

Administrative Assistants Luncheon. We chose the District American Kitchen for a special work occasion and it was lovely. Several of us had the salmon lunch and one of our party had the steak, others had the lunch special. We all agreed that the presentation of the food, the portion size and flavor was outstanding. Unfortunately we had 7 people and had an awkward seating arrangement at two small cocktail tables-but it was fun sitting by the window and people watching. We also had a great server whose name I don't recall. We were there for lunch on the 24th of April. Parking was so easy with the valet service just outside the door.

Fabulous Phoenix dining!. The Best of Phoenix!!! We have eaten at this fabulous restaurant a few times and after last night's dinner with friends it is time to post a "raving review"! First, the ambiance is like no other. We wanted a great meal prior to seeing Jimmy Buffett as opposed to some of the very average experiences downtown Phoenix has to offer. Everything about our dining experience was extraordinary! We sat on the patio which was lovely, our server was excellent and the food out of this world. I had the scallops which I would highly recommend. Our friends are "foodies" and loved everything about this place. Additionally, we have traveled extensively and have eaten in some great places so know good food! This is great food! Everything is fresh and the produce is local! Clearly the staff is well trained as the service and the friendliness was abundant. This is clearly not your typical hotel restaurant in any way. An experience to not be missed if you are downtown Phoenix and want the best the city has to offer! Loved it!!!!!!!

The food here is very fun and the options are a great twist on comfort food! The staff is amazingly polite and helpfull.. Also the dining area was magnificent! High ceilings and a few low walls creating a bit of privacy! Will be back!

The food was good, the atmosphere was lacking. It's never a good sign when a restaurant is completely dead on a Saturday night... My scallops were excellent. My husband ordered the beef, which was delish. I liked the food and the service was good, but it felt strange to be one of only 3 tables dining. Probably will not return due to the atmosphere.

Let the buyer beware.. We went here for Thanksgiving dinner. While the pumpkin soup was appetizing, the Thanksgiving dinner we were served (four of us) was cold. We brought it to the attention of the manager, who offered to take our plates, but when you pay over $30 for dinner, you expect them to get it right the first time. After we were served dessert, we didn't receive any attention from the waiter---our water glasses stood empty. There are definitely better places to spend your money in the city of Phoenix. I'd recommend the Phoenix City Grille or T Cook's anyday over this restaurant.

A trap for travelers. The place is certainly alluring (aesthetically), and I will say that the calamari was incredibly good. The staff were also very pleasant and accommodating. However, the entrees were grossly overpriced considering the quality. They also gave us a basket containing two dinner rolls for a table of three (???), and no butter. Definitely NOT a restaurant for someone who knows quality food and has high expectations for $20-$25 a plate. It truly felt like a tourist trap, or at least a trap for folks staying at the Sheraton. Please save your money and find a decent restaurant in the Phoenix area-- I promise it's worth the extra cash you'll spend on cab fare.

Excellent! The staff, service and food was exceptional. We highly recommend this restaurant. We went for the first time for Easter brunch. We had 4 adults and 4 children. We were treated with the utmost respect and kindness. The children had a fantastic time making Easter baskets (complimentary station, with cotton candy as basket grass...great idea!!). Adults had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the great atmosphere, service and food. Our waitress, Emily, deserves the highest compliments. Thank you District American Kitchen and Wine Bar!!!

Good desserts for a late night snack. I enjoyed the pumpkin whoopie pies and bourbon shake. More delicious and less heavy than I expected.

Had a great lunch here this afternoon. The po'boy slider and arugula salad were very food. I will go again next time I'm in town!

Turkey-Licious!. Enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with a friend at District. Our server, Jacquie, is an absolute treasure. We were not rushed, able to relax through aps and drinks before dinner. Roasted green bean salad with candied pecans, roasted pumpkin soup with black bread croutons, moist turkey (dark & white), cornbread stuffing, lumpy/buttery mashed potatoes, REAL cranberry sauce, and sweet potatoe casserole! WOW! Done to perfection: the District certainly knows how to entertain their guests. Don't get me started on desserts...okay, I give: pumpkin whoopie pies floating on a cloud of cream fraiche and pecan springrolls with cream fraiche and caramel sauce. Yummy! Excellent food, exceptional service, in a relaxed atmosphere! District rocks!

No Wonder This Place is dead on Saturday Night. On the night of our one year anniversary my girlfriend and I were excited to try this place. We started with drinks which were weak. My fried chicken was over-fried, plus I expected a side of mashed potatoes or mac & cheese to go along with it, but was given this piece of chicken on a plate with salty gravy. They brought my girlfriend a steak disguised as a special which turned out to be $40. She said she could have had the same meal at Marie Callendars probably for $12. Althoug the mussels we ordered were nice, our other dishes were boring, bland and definitely not fabulous like the decor. We were able to salvage our special night with drink specials at Amsterdam. All n' All, I do not recommend this place for dinner. We may sometime in the future hit it up for happy hour. We will see.

Missed the mark. We were going to an event downtown and wanted to try something close by. There was an advertised special 1/2 off the regular price of bottles of wine for dinner and the wine list on the website wasn't bad. When we arrived we thought the interior was impressive and modern. The hostess and wait staff were attentive and friendly. Good so far. The bottle of wine I selected was out of stock. OK. No problem. I chose another, and that also was not available. Not the servers fault. Ok on to the food.. The food wasn't bad...but there was just something missing. They really tried, but it was just average at best. If you normally enjoy TGI Fridays or Applebee's you will be impressed with this fare. But if your thinking this will be a gourmet meal, pass on this and stay in Scottsdale where choices are much more abundant. The dessert we ordered was the key lime pie. What a disaster!! We didn't finish it because it was AWFUL!! I don't think there was one LIME in the entire dish. I would give this place a 2 out of 5 rating. Cocktails and appetizers? Yes. A dinner out for the enjoyment of food...NO.

Delighted & Disappointed. Have visited the restaurant twice, enoyed immensly. I was looking forward to bringing 10 guests for an early pre-event dinner at 4:30 PM on a Saturday, and was told "although the kitchen is open we can't serve anyone at that time, it's too early". You would think in this economy that a restaurant would be more accomodating? Perhaps this is why on both of my visits, we were one of 5 tables in the restaurant. I think managment needs to rethink hours of operation, especially on weekends, and put forth more effort on improving customer service, clearly the hostess who answered my call could care less that she lost a dinner reservation for a party of 10...

District is very Creative!. We love this place. District has comfort food with great presentation. The service is awesome and very friendly and the great thing is that it is only a 5 minute walk from where we work. Will stop by sometime to try out Dinner or Happy Hour.
