Review Gallo Blanco Cafe - Phoenix

Wanted to try something new and Gallo Blanco via Google reviews was chosen today. Highly rated with amazing photos of the food it did not disappoint...The only challenge was trying to find parking. On the actual lot there's probably 8 parking spots with an additional 6 spots on the street. You walk into the restaurant and notice beautiful art work throughout. High ceilings with the frame visible and multiple areas that show the brick walls. I'm assuming the restaurant used to be a church or maybe an old store front years ago. Lots of choices on the menu and today's choices were a carne asada burrito and the La Parradilla " family tacos. Starting with the burrito, great tasting crispy tortilla filled with carne asada. Overall it was a good burrito, carne asada was good. I'm still on the hunt for a GREAT carne asada burrito.. On to the family tacos this was truly the star of the meal. 2 types of meat,6 corn tortillas, charred onion, pineapple and yellow pepper. Meats chosen were the barbacoa and pastor. There's so much meat you could literally make about 10-12 tacos. Barbacoa had a nice light char, good flavor (for context Taco boyz barbacoa had a little more flavor and wet). The pastor had great char and flavor was there ( for context I would have to say that Los taquitos Pastor has more of an oven cook to it with a different flavor that ranks a tad bit higher. Overall a great spot hidden in a historic neighborhood surrounded by homes. A hidden jewel worth visiting and will return.

Happy hour is from 3-6 they have wine/beer and margaritas for $5. The wine wasn’t great, stick with the margarita The food was stellar- I had two alacart tacos- Al pastor and the puervo Colorado. Preferred the Al pastor but both were very good. Hubs said his burrito was ‘the best he’s ever had’ so there you go. We also shared some elote- very good. The person next to us ordered Pozole (HUGE portion) so we ended up ordering one to go for lunch the following day. It was outstanding. Service was super friendly as well.

Well, this was unexpected. What a great find. Everything was delicious. The asada tacos were well seasoned. The pastor was not goopy and had great flavor. The pork belly had a nice crisp and the pickled onions on top balanced the sweetness. Both salsas were great but I preferred the green, sweet cilantro flavor and decent heat. The Tres Leches was a perfect way to end the meal. I’ll definitely be back to try more!!!

A friend refers to Gallo Blanco as his favorite Mexican restaurant in the Valley, and now that I’ve been here I understand why! The tacos were utterly phenomenal (the pork belly was insane 🤤) and the cocktails were amazing. Huge shoutout to David for being such a fun bartender! Will definitely be back.

First time trying this place tonight. Have been wanting to try it. Our server (didn’t catch her name but receipt said Berry) was amazing, very friendly, attentive, and explained the menu well. The food was delicious. I had chicken enchiladas, while my friends had a variety of foods. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We also had two drinks each that’s were good as well. Overall for the four of us and two drinks each was about $160 (before tip)

I used to live three houses down and grew up coming to the American Way market for 25c fudgecicles and orange fanta bottles. I was bothered at first by seeing this old neighborhood “gentrified” or what have you. But on my first visit to Gallo Blanco, everything felt familiar. The other people in the restaurant felt like locals, not tourists. The food was traditional but not. There were some twists on Mexican staple foods, but the taste and the experience felt like being in the dining room or backyard of one of my friends houses eating Nana’s chilaquiles and tacos. A properly executed restaurant curates an experience. And that’s exactly what the crew at Gallo Blanco does. They serve up delicious meals and the feeling of Nana’s kitchen.

Went here as a surprise invitation from my girl. I liked the little quaint out of the place very much. The atmosphere was festive and vibrant. The hostess and the cooks were great as well. The food was a combination of things that I would never have thought of and we got full on appetizers. Yummy!! Go as you will love it and be pleasantly surprised to say the least. Love the vibe!!

Visiting Phoenix for the day, and checked out Gallo Blanco based on the guacamole recommendations. The guacamole was wonderful, but the La bomba torte and the pork belly taco were even better. So yummy. I don’t think I’ve ever had a better taco. Loved the horchata and tres leche cake as well.

Such a good start to our Sunday. Not only was the food good and drinks amazing we happen to share a high top with the owner and he was so nice. We have been here before and most definitely will be back. Thank you for my perfect flapjack 🫶🏽.

The food is 5 star. Would definitely come back. Table ordered salad, rice bowl, pozole, huevos rancheros (best we've found yet in the valley!), and guac. All was fresh, authentic flavors. Also tried watermelon agua fresca and cafe con horchata, both fantastic. Could use small improvements in service and we had a menu mix-up, but overall great experience.

Cool little spot in kinda residential area.. the unfinished chic look.. I had the carne asada burrito which was very tasty. My son had the carne asada tacos also very good. The meat was very well marinated , great flavor. The house Margaritas were also very tasty!!

I’ve been in Phoenix almost 4 years now and every now and then, my gf and I stumble across little spots like this one. We took her mom and our son for brunch and the reviews did not disappoint. Everything was excellent. So much so, my gf and I will be back for a date night to try other stuff on the menu. Can’t wait to try the cocktails too!

Gallo Blanco is my husband and daughter's favorite Mexican restaurant in Phoenix. All the food is made from scratch. A handful of salsas for chips and Guacamole which is a 5 out of 5, so good! All the tacos have fresh, soft and warm tortillas. A wide variety of the tacos to choose from too. They've got a full best and funky staff along with great customer service from our waiter Kyle. This place is a restaurant you cannot miss!

Food was great! Wait staff was friendly and accommodating. The owner of the restaurant was on scene. He stopped to talk to us and we discovered he lives close to myself and my family members. This is a nice small place with tasty drinks and food. My elderly father thought the music was too loud. The loud noises bothers his ears. I definitely will return with my friends and family.

Came here for lunch one day and was very pleased with the whole experience. They have a 'restaurant side' which has full-service or a fast-casual side where you can walk up to the counter and place and order. The ambience is very nice and the food is really good! We got the family style taco and choose carne asada and carnita as our meats and it was very good! And their margaritas were delish as wel

I liked how the place looks and I also liked the tacos but the service was not great it took forever to get our drinks then we ordered our food and again it took at least 30 minutes to get some tacos. When I finally get my al pastor tacos I really liked the flavor but on my shrimp taco it only had ONE shrimp and the rest was just cabbage and salsa lol not happy about it.

We went here last night. I loved the Pozole!!! I added the green salsa they had on the table which took the dish over the top! My husband had the family style tacos, he chose the Al Carbon and carnitas. That dish was outstanding! I really like that we are allowed to refill our tea. Seems silly but that was really cool for us because we drink a lot of tea, lol. Every employee that we interacted with was very attentive and nice. The GM was also a pleasure to speak with. I tried to convince him to open a location in Tucson, lol. We will definitely be back!

Chris was our waiter in that was our 1st time there and he took care of us, he suggested the tacos which was during happy hour are cheaper and we tried all of them except the vegetarian which we should have tried it but they all tasted so so good,, the guacamole was out of sight ... 3$ pacifico.... 27$ For 2 people and we left full and happy... Ambience is excellent.. great feel.... we loved it

I ate a lot of fish tacos in my life, Gallo's was the best I've ever had! It was perfect. Will come back and explore more of the menu!

First time, wanted to live it, but... Such an awesome building, very well done. Atmosphere was good, they were fairly busy for a Sunday evening, but the holiday probably had something to do with it. They were very understaffed, took 30 minutes to get drinks...ordered...another 15-20 for the actual drinks. Dirty dishes from two separate groups(one in the spot we were sitting), were just pushed down but never picked up. Food was good, drinks were fair to good. In all fairness, they had one bartender for far too many orders. So who knows how much time he had to dedicate to a good drink. I would give it another go sometime, if the chance arose, but I would go out of my way to try them again

I normally don't drink margaritas ( anything tequila), but when I say they have excellent margaritas, food, and drinks I mean it. Everything was AMAZING! I highly recommend. ( p.s. I grew up/ worked with mex food and it's definitely authentic.

I enjoyed the original Gallo Blanco and am pleased to continue to enjoy them. I like Doug and his Nana's recipes. Its a cool place to hang out and enjoy life.

The margaritas were by far the best!! as well as the guacamole and chips. Loved the location too! It's in an old neighborhood.
Gina Hernandez

Food was awesome, prices were fair. Service at the bar was polite but indifferent. I will give it a second chance.
Michelle Snider
The banana cream pie was an absolute delicious surprise! Friendly knowledgeable bartenders.
Michael A Romero
The Charola (Gallo Guacamole) is pretty darn tasty. Great salsas as well. Nice atmosphere. It's nice to see the Garfield district coming into its own.
Kenny Barrett
Congratulations! So happy you're back and conveniently located just a few blocks away!

Great service and some of the same foods the former Gallo Blanco served. The bar is in a separate area, which I didn't visit, but looks glam from a distance. So good to be back!
Shelly Arnold Lane
Food was spectacular...big hopes for GB!! We will be back.

I truly don’t feel they portrayed the experience it had the potential to be. Amazing guacamole, amazing green salsa. Poor service, poor everything. Didn’t have to be...kinda sad. After taking time to read reviews from others there’s an obvious social media disconnect as well!

The Naco Torta is my fave. Tender cuts of prime rib w/ egg sunny side up and avocado slices make for delicious sandwich. Love the fresh, locally sourced veggies in queso dip. Great starter.

In my humble opinion, Gallo Blanco is the best Mexican restaurant in Phoenix. Food and service are extraordinary!! Just sayin...
