Sphinx Cafe

Horrible service, the owner treated us like we were a burden to him (no wonder this place is always empty when we walk by on Saturday nights). The gyro was really crappy, far worse than a diner. Charged me $6.50 for a piece of sub-par piece baklava, a price for which they do not list on the menu, so make sure to ask first. This is cash only, not even debit (I'm sure they do it for tax benefits ;-). They made me go a few blocks out and pay $5 overcharge on an off-brand ATM. To top it off, they have a strict "restroom is for costumers" policy, and will make even women in desperate situations buy something before allowing them in; they did it to a girl while we where there. My wife went to the restroom and there was no paper towels and no soap, plus the sink was literally about to fall off the wall. There are other small, inexpensive middle eastern places to eat around, we will not be returning here ever again.

the food menu was not extensive, but there are so many great restaurants nearby and you can bring in your own food and beverages. the shisha menu is more extensive and i would recommend a mix of code 69 and blue mist. the owner is extremely nice and very accommodating! staff was very helpful and attentive and the atmosphere was very chill. my only wish is that they had bigger couches. will definitely be coming back here again
