The food is excellent, the staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is on point! I had the bistro bella, sweet potato fries and carrot ginger lemonade Then I took some sweets, to go! I must say they are doing everything right! Waiting for hip city veg to come to Atlanta I highly recommend this place for vegans, vegetarians or carnivores. Trust me, you'll love it!!!!
I've had vegan "steak" sandwiches before, but this tops them all! I was told I'm crazy to drive to Philly just to get vegan food, but I thought it was well worth the trip.
It looks like most of their business is takeaway as there is not much seating here.
I will be back!
I traveled from Harrisburg, PA, for work in Philly, and remembered this vegan spot my brother told me about. He said it's the best vegan cheesteak he's ever had! When I got there, I was told the grill was not working. I told the brother, named Enoch, that I traveled all the way from Harrisburg for that cheesesteak. He said, "bro, I got you! You came all the way from Harrisburg? I'm going to make your sandwich on the griddle." THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!! That joint was slamming, and I could only imagine what it have tasted like grilled. I got the Kale Lemonade to wash it down. My only complaint is that you're not in Harrisburg or Hershey!
Edit: I revisited this restaurant after 5 years and it seems far better now. Their Oh Maiitake burger, spicy chik’n burger and the burger with tempeh bacon (not sure I remember the name) are quite solid. Although, it is still somewhat expensive but definitely a lot more palatable now.
So much potential but it gets wasted because they serve only pseudo meats and not actual vegan or vegetarian food. They should try having a totally independent menu instead of one that tries hard to taste like meat but doesn’t taste good at all.
Always on plant base POINT!! I prefer their smokehouse burger, sweet potato fries and a double chocolate shake however, they do make a mean veggie Philly steak sandwich as well!! Great service. Nice people — eat in or takeout. It’s a staple in Philly for me!!
Great place to hang out and have lunch or eat something before going to the movie theater, deliciously made and great portions.
I really enjoy their Sweet Potato Fries but I miss the Sriracha aïoli sauce that use to come with it🥺
They have a salad there called the upon salad. The noodles are made from wheat and the food is gluten free. They got these chips that will knock your socks off. Whew!!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! The sweet potato fries were so good, even better with the HipCityVeg signature sauce (similar to chickfila sauce). I got the Crispy HipCity Ranch with no tomato and I really liked it. The sauces gave this sandwich all the flavor, but I still enjoyed it. I appreciate the volume of the sandwich, it filled me up but I was still sad when I finished everything lol. Pricey! (doordashed)
This was my first time. Ordered the Chikn fajita wrap with sweet potato fries. All I can say is WOW!!! Eating HEALTHY never tasted so GOOD!
Best dang Chik'n Sammich I've had. The seasoned batter, texture, and peppercorn ranch made this one of the best savory vegan sandwiches I've had in the past decade. I hope I can make it back during this trip for another!
My order: Crispy HipCity Ranch (chick’n) $10 added Buffalo Sauce for $1, and sweet potato fries $5. $17; I brought my own water.
Everything was yum! The sandwich is super similar to that of a chicken sandwich. It was very flavorful; I’m glad I added the buffalo sauce because I love a kick. It’s a mild spice, so no worries. The ranch sauce that comes on it was the perfect pairing. Next time I’ll pass on $5 fries. I believe an order of fries is enough for 2 people. The sandwich is filling enough. I love that the utensils and bags are compostable. I’d definitely come here for another one of the sandwiches.
