It was a trip down memory lane for me going to Gooey Looies! I remember the days my dad would take my sister and I to order hoagies before going to a Phillies game. The hoagies are still fresh and delicious, and they still pile on enough meat that you can make a second sandwich😂! It's a small shop with big sandwiches and friendly service.
Really good cheesesteak for a great price. It was meaty, messy, filling, it took me a minute to eat… exactly what I want when eating a cheesesteak… Everybody inside was friendly. I hadn’t heard anybody mention this when asking what’s the best cheesesteak place in Philly and it might be up there but I want to try a few more places before deciding.
I’ve tried other cheesesteaks and this is top 10 in Philly. Maybe even higher, I’ll put together a list.
Been coming here for 23 years since 2000 I come maybe 3 times a year. Food never disappoints I get the same thing all the time Corn Beef Special but they have other good food. Good thing is since the pandemic they never reduce the food quantity
Love them. I need to start ordering small sandwiches, though. They are to packed with meat. None of us have finished a large in one sitting.
This is one amazing place. It remains one of my favorite places to grab a to go lunch in South Philly. It's tucked away like a hidden gem that only the locals would know of its delicious sandwiches. If you can find it, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend.
Got the Italian hoagie today for the first time. This is an absolutely solid sandwich. Look at that photo. That’s a good portion of meat. Staff was super friendly. I need to come back and get a cheesesteak
I love Gooey Louies!! They have the best corn beefs specials around. I admit I love their liver wurst on rye. All their sandwiches are awesome. They also have a variety of drinks & things you forgot at Shoprite. Oh and the guys behind the counter are funny.
1st philly sandwhich recommend by my Lyft driver as I was a tourist when I was there: it was very yummy, Wish I would have tried more sandwiches! also thank you John for taking the pictures with us (:
OMG. Authentic chopped steak cooked as we waited. Lots of fresh toppings. Traditional with sauted onions, cheese and mayo was best Philly yet. To go and delivery. We ate them hot in the courtyard.
Steak is PACKED with meat!!
Great price!! One thing Is the seasoning🤔 it could use a little more! Other than that.. This is definitely the best steak in South Philly....
