My brother Vincent and I flew up to Philly this past week to celebrate his birthday.
Among our stops were cheese steaks, Liberty Bell, Love Park, Reading Market.
We stopped for lunch at Rione. It sits on a nondescript street.
The owners did a really nice job on the build out. Clean, cozy and inviting.
Matt welcomed us and told us about the specials and pizzas
We both got the same two slices
Spicy and a carbonara
Both were excellent quality, fresh perfectly balanced.
I would highly recommend this business
Really enjoyable lunch here. This is Roman street style pizza done properly. Pizza has a perfect crust (not burned as is the unfortunate custom at some places these days), with a light dough and tasty toppings. We had marg (2), a carbonara and a truffle mushroom and they were all excellent. The Caesar salad was adequate.
Service was friendly and competent and a clean and well maintained restroom a plus.
The pizza by the slice here was decent if you enjoy thicker style crusts. They offered both classic and artisan flavors, which is fun to explore the different flavor profiles. Didn't exactly receive stellar service, but it's pizza and not that deep.
Slices were a little soggier than I prefer. I love lots of toppings, but I'm not sure if I got a weird round of slices for myself and friends because each of us commented that the dough felt like it was either under or that the toppings left too much moisture. Might have to go back and check it out again.
Probably the best pizza I’ve had in America! Amazing roman-style pizza by the slice. Definitely recommend the carbonara and the vodka pizza.
I love stopping by here for a slice or two when I'm back in Philly. The carbonara is my favorite by far but they are all tasty. The crust is light and airy and it's a nice change up from more traditional pizza pies
yummy! They have unique pizza toppings and at a great price point. Truffolatta, vodka, and pepperoni slices were a hit and will definitely be back for lunch.
Discovered this gem by accident and boy am I glad I did! Excellent artisan pizza with a variety of flavors. We tried the following:
Trufolata, Patate E Romarino, Ricotta Vodka, & Margarita. Ricotta Vodka was our favorite but they were all excellent. No disappointments and we are New Yorkers so we are hard to please when it comes to food, especially pizza! The pizzeria is small but very clean and brightly lit. Definitely has a modern, upscale feel. Parking is not easy (welcome to Philly!) but it’s worth it to drive around the block to find a spot because the pizza is so delicious. The service is friendly and informative and unlike other pizzerias, the box has instructions for reheating to perfection. Give them a try!
Team lunch at one this pizza stops was a new experience for all of us. The varieties are surplus and taste too unique. Tried the spinach & artichoke, Tomato basil 🌿 and even Eggplant 🍆, Potato varieties as a whole team order. We loved the service and freshness in each bite. Potato and eggplant was a unique choice for a pizza but we all ended up happy with our lunch.
Really liked this place! Never had the Roman style pizza but this crust is delicious. We got a couple different slices which was cool to be able to mix and match. Price is good too for the amount.
Not your average pizza - this Roman style pizza place has pizza by the slice with an interesting range of toppings. There is plenty of counter and table seating. The pizza crust has the right amount of crunch and softness. I really enjoyed the prosciutto pizza and the broccoli rabe sausage pizza.
