Italian food in an Irish pub? Sounds odd right? But it was perfect! Excellent food at an excellent price in a cozy down to earth atmosphere. Great staff too. Was there on a Wed night and there was a wait to sit. That’s because it’s worth it. Loved it and we will be back. This place is a “must do” if you’re a foodie.
Our second visit here and just as delicious as the first. Dining tucked in the back of a trendy neighborhood bar the food is fresh and homemade every single day. We had raviolis stuffed with ricotta and spinach, gnocchi’s stuffed with mozzarella, seafood stuffed manicotti, pork shank as big as your head with linguini and lagistino lobster with clams and pasta. OH! Did I mention the appetizers of meatballs the size of baseballs along with sweet sausage and bracciolla. And then dessert! Chocolate covered cream puffs, lemon and cheese cake!! We’re rolling outta this place tonight!
Almost all their entrees are under $20! The food menu at this Italian/Irish restaurant is not only delicious but very affordable. Portions are large and filling, dessert was huge. They do not take reservations and they are cash only, recommend hanging out by the bar to get a seat. As other reviews mention, it is a small space but very worth the wait!
Have a 5 star meal in a local bar. Kevin gave us great service. I had leg of lamb that was as good as it gets. My husband had a perfect pasta meal. Even the cocktails are top notch. Can’t wait to go back.
I think there were some hits and misses with the dishes here, but in general it's good. I probably wouldn't wait longer than 30 minutes, as you cannot reserve, to eat here, also, it is cash only and they have an ATM on site. It's quite tight inside. We got the Meatballs, Stuffed Gnocchi (here was the primary miss, it was quite tart, and only tasted of cherry tomatoes, I did add a fair amount of salt), Murph's Pasta, and the Seafood Manicotti (which was the best option we got). I will add the disclosure that I find it is difficult to find good or outstanding Italian food in Philadelphia, but this one is a better option than say Giuseppe & Sons, cheaper as well.
Murph’s is by far my favorite place to eat in fishtown. The pear dish is the best!!! We try to eat here once a week. They always have amazing wine the goes amazing with each dish they have. They will even make butter noddles for my son when we come. The staff is super nice and always remembers my order. The deserts are always on pint. The best time is to go for dinner is EARLY! They get slammed so fast! Definitely worth the wait.
Even without considering the prices, the pasta here is the best in Philly. I’ve eaten at all the “in” places and no place touches the variety and flavors here. Not over salted which allows the flavors to shine. The service is fast and perfect for the relaxed environment. Come to eat drink and be merry. Possibly the best restaurant in Philly given the value for the exceptional food and the chill vibe.
Obvious 10/10. Everything is delicious. Garganelli with sausage, lobster ravioli and pesto gnocchi... We also had the fried eggplant appetizer which was incredible and I don't usually like eggplant that much.
I've been to Murph's a few times, and I've never been disappointed. The menu is small but well-curated, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. The pasta dishes are my favorite, and the pear and cheese fiocchi is my go-to. The pasta is perfectly cooked, and the sauce is rich and flavorful. The pears add a touch of sweetness, and the cheese makes it all come together.
The staff is friendly and attentive, and they really know their stuff. They're happy to make recommendations, and they're always willing to answer any questions you have.

Honestly, WOAH! I quite literally returned a week ago from Italy; and I can say with absolutely certainty, that the pasta here practically surpasses what I had IN Italy. Really I'm blown away the quality and freshness, just every dish we got was phenomenal. BELLA! I will be returning here as often as possible!!

Can’t say enough good things about Murphs. I was freaking out trying to get a reservation 2 days before Christmas because my very picky family decided to visit the city last minute. Murphs was so accommodating for 6 of us and the food is always incredible. My whole family loved everything and they got to feel the real Philly vibe! The exact opposite of the overpriced touristy places, murphs is cozy, warm, with huge portions of amazing food for a great price. Even my dad (the hardest person in the world to please) cleaned his plate! Thank you!
