Focacceria, their new sandwich concept, is one for the ages! Great quality meats, cheeses, and spreads -- with impeccable made to order service! The sandwiches are reasonably priced for their size, be prepared to share with a friend or take some as a leftover home.
Di Bruno's is a Philly legend. They sell top-notch ingredients at top-notch prices. They also do one of the best Italian pork sandwiches in the city. But this review is about the foccacia sandwich I bought today: Abbruzzo Amore (apologies for bad spelling). This thing was huge! It was also made right in front of me from fresh ingredients. There's no doubt about it, it's a work of art; it's also exactly as described. Now I can't work out whether it's amazingly good, or awful. Hear me out.
Firstly, the bread is made there and, as you can see in the photo, is fresh and oozes oil - it's foccacia - arguably it's supposed to.
Secondly the ingredients are high quality, in large portions, but the ensemble is so rich and creamy (and huge) that eating the whole thing feels like asserting yourself to be the fat greedy westerner that the rest of the world despairs about.
Thirdly it costs $15, hich is not overpriced considering the size and the ingredients IMO... but could they not do a $7 version at half the size? Maybe I would walk away feeling less oily and stuffed.
It's a terrific sandwich. And also gross. See the problem?
Fast service during peak lunchtime, staf was very friendly and my sandwich was delicious!
They gave me a porchetta sandwich the size of my head. Super nice staff.
great olive selection, good selection of non dairy protein shakes
Staff was friendly and made my sandwich quickly and without error. Glad this place is finally open again post-pandemic. Great for a quick lunch break during the workday.
I'm there everyday for breakfast. Real food available where there are other fast food spots near by. No need to look their way. This place has the flavors you need.
Great selection & hot food bar!
This place is great. Excellent sandwiches, excellent food all around. In also enjoy picking up some of their sauces and other sundries from time to time.
Cheese kings of Philly. Here's the thing... Not only is the variety amazing, these folks also know how to handle the cheese. This is key, because it makes a difference if cheese has been mistreated it detracts from the flavor or texture.
You will always get the best example of an given cheese from Di Bruno Bros.
