Wonderful Italian restaurant!

I think the restaurant was family owned -It had that feel. We had excellent service and welcomed by several people! We tried the fish and pasta dishes as well as wine - all were good! We would go there again!

Went to this little authentic Italian with my dad during restaurant week this winter and it was absolutely delicious! As part of the deal we each got different salads to start, a tossed salad and the d'angelo salad which was a meal in itself and the flavours were delicious, then for main course we shared two different pasta dishes- one with veal meatballs in a hearty tomatoe sauce and one which was prawn ravioli in a creamy sauce, the flavours were equisite! Having been given lovely Italian bread and dipping oils we were full to the brim so I ended up bringing a doggy bag home with a small portion of the mealball pasta, I had this a couple days later and it was just as yummy! We were so full by the time desert came I actually can't remember what it was but it didn't stand out compared to the savoury dishes! I think we got a really good deal given it was restaurant week but I would certainly recommend this place for even just a filling main course as there is so much choice and it's true authentic Italian cuisine! The owner is very sweet too and very personal to all customers! He has famous people all over the wall which is cool!

Pricey Italian. OK, start with the fact that it is on prime real estate next to Rittenhouse Square and you can rationalize their prices. Linguine with clams $22, Veal parmigiana $26, seafood over linguine $45 (ouch). If you really want Italian and you have to be on Rittenhouse Square, this could be a good choice, but be prepared to pay. The pasta was al dente, with lots of garlic and butter, but nothing special.

The building is three stories of a big row house. The decor looks from the 1990s. Dining with pictures of old Italy on the walls. The wait staff checked on us several times. Dress is casual. Jeans are fine.

Yum Yum Yummy!. My first night in Philadelphia with my bf, we went to this place on the reccomendation of his older brother. Boy was he ever spot on! When I walked in,, I knew I was in for a treat from just the smell alone. The bartender ( an older greek man) refused to make a drink I wanted, told me to drink one he made up but he was right. So when he imperiously told us what to order for dinner, I took his advice. Ginocci apps were like little pillows from heaven, veal parm was out of this world, veal chop was flat out insane and the capp at the end was thick is delicious! This place is a MUST

Old school, classic, wonderful, if pricy, Italian. One big TV at the end of the bar. I even saw the bartender smile once. Order the Clams Casino and Veal Parmigiana.

The staff are excellent, friendly, and attentive; we also saw the owner wandering the dining rooms. The interior is lovely and interesting. The food is rather good, though the portions are somewhat small, at least in terms of pasta / vegetables. Appetizers were excellent, and the house bread was good. I enjoyed the experience, but I prefer several other Italian restaurants in the city.

Had reservations for 6 people with a birthday celebration. Table was set for 8 and hostess didn’t remove the extra settings (lazy) saying “they” would do it—the already busy wait staff. My brother-in-law and I removed the settings and spread out the six settings and removed the chairs. When confirming the reservation on phone, restaurant wanted to know name of celebrant but wait staff knew nothing and didn’t comp at least one of the deserts. Clearly owner wasn’t there as he was last time. Food was great though and waiters brought food out on time and kept water filled.

Very nice Italian restaurant in an urban setting. I went there to attend a family reunion dinner. We had a reservation for 38 people. We were seated promptly, and enough servers were assigned to our party. Our service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The servers were attentive enough so that we never felt neglected, but they were not overly obtrusive. The kitchen staff must have been equally well organized because our orders were delivered in a timely way. The portions were generous but not excessive, and everyone praised the taste of their meal. I had a D'Angelo signature salad. It was excellent. They didn't have eggplant parmesan on the menu, but that's what I wanted, and they made it for me. It was outstanding. The prices were reasonable, and the decor was very nice. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five was that parking is very difficult in that neighborhood, I needed to park three blocks away, and most of the seating is on the second or third floor, and they don't have an elevator. If you are in the neighborhood already and you don't mind walking up one or two flights of stairs, then I highly recommend D'Angelo's.

Not bad, but not amazing. It is incredibly popular and incredibly busy. The spaghetti and meatballs, which won a best of Philly award, was good, but again not as good as the award might suggest. Because the restaurant was so busy, the service was okay. I think that there are a lot of people who love this place because it was packed. Maybe a case of different strokes for different folks.

They were able to handle a party of 25 like expert craftsmans. The food is incredible. The service is impeccable. The owner is a gentleman. The bartender, Mr. not Gus 😂😂 was personable and knowledgeable. I could not say enough about this place. Being an Italian American myself I am very picky about my food but I was more than pleased in the quality of the appetizers, the entrees, and the incredible desserts. Fresh pasta. Great steaks. Wonderful sauces. An incredible variety. And I cannot say enough about that impeccable service for such a large group. Everything was served at perfect timing. Everything was hot and fresh. And the place was waiting for us upon arrival. You want authentic Southern Italian cuisine. You want fair prices. You want incredible service. You want fresh dishes. You want personality. Then this is your place. Un'esperienza incredibile che rimarrà nella mia mente per sempre. BRAVO!

If you are looking for a real Italian place, that’s it! Food and service, excellent!! Atmosphere, unique!! You feel like visiting your nonna! If you are not of Italian descent, you will finally understand what we always talk about! The owner walks around talking to the customers and if you invite him, he will even come and share a glass of wine with you. (If he is not busy, of course) Weather permitting, sitting outdoors under the vine is also great! An Italian restaurant next to an Irish church, only in Philadelphia! 🤗

Wonderful food and Sal (baby) approved of it. The grapes hanging above are also to die for. Thanks to the servers who saw our enthusiasm for them and delivered a bowl to our little one.

I honestly don't known what to say. A friend asked me to meet her here. Family and friends. Just...ask for "Sal." And then, besides the food being great and the drinks flowing, he pulled out his guitar, and yeah. It was an event.
