Review Barra Rossa Ristorante - Philadelphia

Perfect date night place! Also an excellent place for family dinner. We loved the ambience with the candle lights, smooth jazz music overhead. The food is just as great if not better. We had the mushroom ravioli with pesto sauce and eggplant parm with Alfredo fettuccine - our first time trying these combinations and we loved them! Great portions for the prices. Lastly, kudos to the team for a great service, David our waiter was able to accommodate a change in our appetizer selection. Will definitely visit again!

Great place with a big selection of items and a comfy setting. I enjoyed the wine selection. They also had a vegan menu with a lot of choices. I got the vegan pesto ravioli.

This is a very good italian restaurant that is located at the center of Philly. Went here for dinner and it was amazing! The staff is super super friendly. We were immediately greeted with warm welcome smiles and people ready to help us. The interior is honestly gorgeous. After we were seated, the service was really quick, which was good. We came around 9pm, an hour before they closed, and they treated us with the same respect as if they weren't just working for an entire day. Definitely owe it to the workers for half of my review. Kid's menu is $15, with a meal, drink, and a dessert. (which I think is a very good price.) Overall, the prices are reasonable! Really made my night.

Best cocktails I’ve had in Philly… the spring spritzer was to die for 😍🥂I got the Philly Dilly pizza because I can never turn away a pickle. The manager Jack and our waiter Xavier were so awesome and attentive! Loved it.

This was my first time eating here but it won't be my last. From the host Jack who was super friendly who made us feel very welcome to our server Devon who was fantastic! Very attentive and made the best recommendation and drink (Strawberry Lemon Drop). I had the lobster and shrimp scampi (I forgot to take a picture) and it was delicious! Even the garlic bread with the marinara dip was superb! I will definitely be returning and most likely ordering the exact same thing😂

The calamari was perfectly cooked, some of the best I’ve ever had. The bruschetta was also very well done. The pizza was good, a solid pizza with a good crispy crust. (I’m a little biased towards NY/NJ pizza but this was still pretty good.)Sauce had good flavor and not just the perfect amount of sweetness. Friendly staff, cool atmosphere too. I had a absolutely wonderful blueberry lemonade cocktail that was well crafted and had the perfect hint of mint.

The food was absolutely delicious and the environment was so comfortable and welcoming. The waitress was kind and attentive to my wants, needs and concerns. I would definitely return to this restaurant again.

September 2019: Great ambience, wonderful service, great tasting food, quick service, acceptable price. Great pizza selection. Loved the caprese salad. A bit disappointed when there were no vegetarian options on the restaurant week menu. Assorted mousse was a bit overpriced but tastes great. Will definitely be back.

Fun space to hang out and have a beer or a glass of wine before you go to a show. The pizza is excellent here. I got the philly dilly pizza it's a thin crust pizza with mozzarella thinly sliced dill pickles and drizzled with garlic aioli. I was apprehensive at first it seems so weird. It was incredible. You really need to try it.

I really like the way the place looks. Very nice decoration and a cool building. They have a lot of gluten free options which is the reason why we chose the place. The GF pizza was nothing special, it's the same pre baked type you get at other restaurants. Also they seem to have a kids meal menu which we never received. The kids spaghetti did not have enough sauce. And my kids don't like when they are drowned in sauce so that says something....

The ambience, window seat, & food were all perfect. You're in luck for superb service (esp. if Emma's your server).

This is my first time visiting Philadelphia and I'm here with my fiance for his work trade show for the first day of our trip. A group of his coworkers decided to come here last night and invited me, so we looked at the online menu to see if there are any vegan options. The only thing we really saw was minestrone, so my fiance called the restaurant and was pleased to know that they offer vegan cheese. It was excellent vegan cheese too! It seemed like it could have been house made, but delish either way. My fiance was also told that they will be stocking Impossible Foods products too. We need to give credit where credit is due. Thanks for the great options! Our waiter was very friendly and gave great service. The drinks were reasonably priced and strong compared to many places we've been. And everyone loved the food. I'd definitely come back the next time we are in the area.

Walked in early for dinner and sat at the bar. Apps and drinks were delicious. Their red sangria was top notch. The smoked mozzarella Frita was unique. We order the salmon piccata and the chicken parm. We always order chicken parm with Alfredo pasta and sometimes get looks at the question. This place does it that way on the menu. It was fantastic. Salmon Piccata is a dish this pescatarian didn’t know existed. It was fantastic. The fish was well cooked and large. The addition of artichokes levels up the dish. Can’t wait to come back and try a few other dishes.

Found this by chance thanks to open table. Great restaurant, service was awesome, food was overall good and drinks were great. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and recommended some good suggestions. My only recommendation is when someone says they haven’t been there before and you are mentioning a special it’s peobably good to recommend how it’s cooked. I had the veal pork chop special and didn’t love it because it was overpowered by a charcoal flavor. Also, I completely forgot to ask how it was cooked so that was my fault as well.

Service was pretty good, considering the crowd. Most of their food, like pasta and pizza, are quite good just not spectacular. A little bit of oil goes a long way. The cocktails are palatable but a bit watered down. The atmosphere is quite nice and rustic. Good place for a night out.

My husband and I arrived a little bit before 6pm on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately and were given a choice of where to sit, as there was upstairs and downstairs seating. We were even asked if we preferred to sit near a sunny window or somewhere else. I really appreciated that instead of just being stuck at a terrible table. The host was very kind and considerate. However, the restaurant was almost empty and there were a lot of waiters standing around doing nothing and we still sat for over 5 minutes before someone even came to take our drink order. I made eye contact with several waiters and no one came over. I’m not sure why, but it was also very hot in the building, which made it uncomfortable to eat hot pasta dishes in the summer. (We did not take the sunny table either.) Our waitress was nice and knowledgeable about the menu, but she only took our order, offered dessert, and brought the check. Someone else brought our food and took our plates. No one refilled our drinks. We had to ask for a box as someone was already trying to bus our plates and had just assumed we didn’t want to take the leftovers. The saving grace of this experience was the food. They had gluten free options that actually allowed me to eat a full Italian meal, including garlic bread and oil! Their gluten free pasta and bread were very good quality and I didn’t feel like I was eating some crappy substitute. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. We spent $80 before tip for two pasta entrees, two apps, and two alcoholic beverages. The portions were very good as well. This was our first visit to Barra Rossa so maybe they were having an off day?

We stopped in for lunch before the theatre and we were glad we did. The staff were all very friendly and the food was excellent. We had the zucchini appetizer which was amazing and the pizza was delicious. We will definitely be coming back again. Would highly recommend. I can't wait to return for diner!

Great calamari, shared with my Mum (tip: if you don't want to have the spicy dipping sauce, they will happily bring a big bowl of their lovely marinara sauce - marvelous!) Shared a pizza - thin crispy crust, fresh out of the wood oven. Portions are large, service terrific. Second floor worth going up all the stairs for! Our "Go To" restaurant in this part of Philly.

Dinner last night was awesome. Upstairs dining room was modern, elegant and comfortable. Calamari appetizer was the best I ever had. Chicken Parm was off the hook and the Crab and spaghetti was amazing. Pizzas were really good, as well. Our server, Morgan, was delightful and offered impeccable service. We will be back.

We were so happy to find Barra Rossa it was the perfect place to grab a bite while waiting for a show at the Walnut Street Theater. The menu was full of things we wanted so it was hard to make a choice-service was great!

I hardly ever get dessert but popped in during Restaurant Week and the 3-course lunch came with a delicious cannoli. Their entree salads and pasta dishes are reliably good and the wait staff and bartenders are friendly. The ambiance is pleasant and the place always smells great when you walk in the door.

A terrible experience. Slow service, the food didn't arrive at the same time even though we asked for it. I can recommend every one NOT to go there!

The calamari melts in your mouth. The basil oil on the crab and Portobello mushroom dances on your tongue. The veal . . . Perfect! And since my husband had the Seared Tuna Salad this time, I'll have it the next time we go! Enjoy!

Everything about this place is awesome- food, service, wine selection. The managers were super friendly and very personable. Definitely looking forward to going back!

Luscious food, deep drinks and attentive staff. If you find yourself near 10th and Market, drop-in and enjoy their offerings. If you do, you'll go back over and over again!

I’ve been here a few times and always liked it. I brought my daughter yesterday to have lunch before a show. She was skeptical ..”I don’t like Italian ...”. She’s 25. Well ... she’s changed her mind!! Thanks again for a wonderful lunch.

Stopped in yesterday afternoon for a bite to eat with my sons (4 and 10). The staff was friendly and the food was great! I'll definitely go back.
