Review Chestnut Grill & Sidewalk Cafe - Philadelphia

The Manhattan clam chowder was flavorful, and the clams were not chewy. The coleslaw was more vinegar based instead mayonnaise based, which is always a nice surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The catfish could have been seasoned better. The service and atmosphere were welcoming. The restaurant was very clean.

A beautiful experience for our group of 12. We all loved our server, the food and venue. Amazing service.

A cute little joint in Chestnut Hill! The pear mules were a unique twist and refreshing. We'd seen the lamb chop appetizer in reviews and it was excellent. Really yummy French bread basket as well! Our entrees (mango Thai shrimp salad and a classic burger) were solid. Great atmosphere for an outdoor meal on a warm day!

Had a late lunch after a Dr’s appointment. Everything was good, service, food and atmosphere. I definitely would go back.

Me and my mom went for lunch and it was a great experience. It’s two levels and outside seating. It was cold so we didn’t get to sit outside. The downstairs dining doesn’t have bathrooms or great cell service the staff informed us. We sat on the main level. The server was nice. Food came out hot and was oh so good. My mom never had catfish and had ordered the tacos and didn’t like the texture of the fish so they were great offering her other options. I can’t wait to go back for dinner and happy hour. Mussels and entres are available after 4.

I enjoyed my dining experience here at the Chestnut Grill and Sidewalk Cafe, it was very lovely inside, and the service was really special..I was celebrating my Sister's bday so it was a location that was picked earlier, it was easy to get to, It was all so delicious also the assortment of meals to choose from..I loved the hot wings with bleu cheese wit the cole slaw and spinach salad...I enjoyed the brisket on roll..Mmmm all so very delicious!!

We didn't care for much for the basement floor dinning room, only those with big groups will find dinning in the white brick wall isn't unpleasant. Our server and the host were great and know how to make us feel less uncomfortable, the food was good, but wasting/using shredded iceberg lettuce on our plates are so uncalled for. Onion soup needs a little work to make it perfect. The burger was also perfect except the burnt that makes me wonder when was the last time they cleaned the grill.

Always amazing! Ultimate Burger one of my favorites. Mom had Petite New Zealand Lambchops appetizer. We were able to relax and enjoy the outdoor ambience. Thumbs up again!! Thanks for a really enjoyable afternoon and late lunch!! Highly recommend this place!

A convenient and universal lunch and dinner spot. Located in the bottom of the Chestnut Hill Hotel, this place has a personality of its own: upscale and mature yet diner-like thanks to the menu and hospitality. I got the Niçoise salad the last time I visited. It was exactly what I wanted - a voluminous salad with a crispy, seasoned filet of salmon. I tried to get a cappuccino, but their machine was down. Instead, I got a black coffee, but it was was too watery to drink. Limited vegan options (chili, hummus, fries). I ADORE coming here in the warmer months; the outdoor seating is nourishing in and of itself. Prefer to come here for lunch but will always take my mom and Mommom here when they’re in-town (there’s something for everyone)!

Went here a couple days ago. Food was good, I had the catfish appetizer and the lamb burger on peta. The drinks were the best though. I recommend the peachy sweet tea spiked with vodka.

I appreciated eating here. The chicken sandwhich was fresh and the fries were crispy. The staff were nice and attentive to the table’s needs.

Amazing appetizers and tasty drinks are being made at Chestnut Grill. Get down there and try out the buffalo wings, lamb chops and garlic mussels. Prepare yourself for a party in your mouth, yes it’s that Good. On to the desserts I tried the Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice cream it was love at first bite. The gooey filling crispy crust and sweetness is so yummy. This place is a must try.

Went here for mother's day and dined outside! I got a chicken parm sandwich and my mom got a roast beef sandwich. The food was divine

The food was amazing! We visited during Chestnut Hill Restaurant Week but I'd pay full price for their food. Our waitress Becky was great too. She was very attentive and friendly. I'd recommend this place for the food, service and ambiance. Nice gem in the city.

For almost 20 years I've been coming here any time I'm in the Chestnut Hill area. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food is delicious. My only disappointment is the absence of soft or pureed foods and soups on the menu. I am an oral cancer survivor with limited food choices but I'm usually able to find something on just about any restaurant menu, even if it's simply a baked potato, creamed soup or mac n'cheese. No choices of this sort are on the menu at the Chestnut Grill including the children's menu nor are they equipped or willing to puree food on request. I would respectfully suggest that management consider an appliance like the Bella Rocket Blender which sells for around $24.99 as a convenience to their customers. It would be an inexpensive and beneficial addition to the kitchen that could accommodate anyone with eating issues similar to mine. Along with adding a few soft food choices to the menu I believe this suggestion could significantly improve on an otherwise wonderful dining experience.

We ate outside after the waiter made 3 apologies for the wait in food preparation we finally were able to eat, good food but the long delay put a damper on our 1st visit and Birthday brunch!

Seated quickly- served quickly by a pleasant, knowledgeable server - the server's recommendation was exactly how she described it - the chicken salad sandwich was delicious - I give Chestnut Grill a 5 star rating on food, service and atmosphere

Thursday night was my first time Chestnut Hill grill. I must say the atmosphere was wonderful and the food was great! I had the Beef Brisket entree, it was superb and the portions were plentiful. From the greeting at the door, to the wait staff, my experience was excellent! I will certainly be returning again soon!

Haven't had a bad meal yet. The lamb chops are my favorite, but I also enjoyed the southern breakfast sandwich, lamb burger, and beef brisket.

Had a nice, relaxing meal in the air-conditioning on Sunday afternoon with a friend. There were a couple times when the noise level was higher than ideal. Also, many periods with breaking glass sounds from the kitchen or bar near our table. The food selections were done well and all items I ordered were cooked or prepared very well. The prices are about on par with others of the location and cuisine type.

There food and services were absolutely fantastic. Ten of us were there for lunch meeting, but I also had the best breakfast ☆☆☆☆☆☆

Food is consistently excellent. My husband and I had the salmon which was perfectly prepared It was well seasoned, Moody and served with delicious vegetables. All the flavor and none of the guilt for those who wish to dine out and keep the meal within the lines. Drinks are always perfection! Great dining, inviting atmosphere and easy parking.

Great brunch on the porch. The blood Orange Mule was excellent and Emma was a great waitress.

As a regular. I love the food, the atmosphere and people. The staff here are always professional and fast with our service. Love it!

I have taken so many people here and they all love it too. They used to have the ABSOLUTELY BEST fried calamari. I wish they would bring it back. This is the only place I will eat a beef burger. I love it !!!
Dan Ravasio
Great place to gather with friends and to make new ones. Food is great too. Nice staff.

Waited 40 minutes for our food. Salad and a burger that was supposed to be medium-well and fries. Fries were not ready, hamburger was raw. And the waiter didn't seem to care at all. Manager was apologetic. Won't be back.

It is an adorable cafe along the Avenue! Great for people watching. Service is beyond and setting is so quaint! Drink made to perfection! Cheers! Love Chestnut Hill.

Their crab cake sandwiches is the best I've ever had!

Comfortable, handsome interior with a very accommodating staff. Food came out in a timely fashion and was hot and tasty. When the weather is nice, there is outdoor seating, as well. One of favorite spots in Chestnut Hill!
Jasmine Lovee
They have a spacious reaturant, but they stuck everyone into one part. I thought that was odd. Food was good. Fast service. I think the staff need a morale boost. They were pleasant but not enthusiastic.

Ran into my old-head that ran "October Gallery" at NXNW. Enjoyed good food, young Spirits and art as well. And the weather was fab!

We just had the house-made hummus and the spinach and chicken salad but it was all so good we wished we could go back for more. We did take out up to our room in the Chestnut Hill Hotel - which was perfect. I went down and ordered directly from the bar and carried the food upstairs.

Pretty affordable prices. Had the Chestnut Grill Burger it had salami and provolone and I was surprised how good the combination was. Worth the try and I'd go back.

Not a great dinner. Ate here tonight and the meal was not good...and the service was very slow. All I ordered was a salad because it was such a hot night. Unfortunately, the greens were were brown and hot. I know the greens were from a bag, but I pick out the browned greens when I use it and I think they could do the same.<br/>The waitress, while sweet, didn't even bring bread...or water. Service was slow and we specifically said we had to be someplace. We were 25 minutes late!

Today's lunch. We used to go here a lot, but haven't been here in a long time. I had always liked the crab cake sandwich, but the quality really fell down. Mostly filler, very little crab. They took it off our bill. This is too bad. I am hesitant to go back, but I love eating on their porch and will go there when it's warm for dessert or a salad.

Love the owner Greg!. It's nice to have a smiling, friendly owner of a local eatery on hand, and that's Greg. He's active among the merchants and always wants the best for his customers. Now as to food: love the salads! in particular the one with shrimp, sesame, pine nuts, etc. slurp...and also the big chef's salad with EVERYTHING in it. Soups change daily and are great. I like sitting in the bar where I can eat dinner and watch the news, or in a big booth, or downstairs in the rathskeller, a nice, intimate space with lots of tables & booths and beautiful flower closeup art on the walls. Very reasonable and good food!
