Review Bud And Marilyn's - Philadelphia

Sandy LYNCH
First time in this restaurant and we had an amazing experience. They have awesome espresso martini that I highly recommend if you are on the sweet side for drinks. Our party ordered the cheese curds, old fashioned, margarita and an Orange sour type of drink. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli with the hazelnut and every bite was a treat. It was not too heavy and really well balanced. My husband got the short ribs stroganoff, a little bit more on the heavier side but he enjoyed every single bite (I enjoyed the bite I tried). Everyone really enjoyed their meal and drink. The atmosphere was nice as well. Perfect spot for future date night

Great bar and food! We were not planning on this great local place, but when we had 9 and no reservations, they happened to have a table for us at the time we were looking for. So we got there a little early for happy hour drinks. It's not the best list, but if you are a beer or wine drinker, it is good. and we waited for our family and friends. wen they showed up we were taken to our table and we had Kristina our server give us some suggestions. We started with the Kimchi fried rice, spicy but very flavorful. then we all ordered different dishes and basically one of each of the major recommendations from our server Kristina, each was filled with flavor and nice size for the price. I personally went with the Nashville fried chicken with a side of roasted butternut squash. what a plate filled with flavor. It was not too spicy and just the right flavor. It was sitting on potato bread and drizzled with a ranch dressing. We finished off with three of their most popular desserts. The Funfetti cake seems to be their signature dessert. All was great and had a bite of each.

The highlights here were definitely the fried chicken & warm biscuits. The chicken was juicy & flavorful, with a delicious crunch. Although very aesthetically pleasing, the ribs & grilled hanger steak were decent, but not outstanding. As a fair warning - we visited for a Friday night meal, and the atmosphere was very noisy & overall difficult for conversation.

Wow!!! This place is spectacular. The cheese curds were delightfully (and lightly) breaded and not greasy at all, the meatloaf (pictured) and fried chicken were breathtaking, and the lemon blueberry pie was probably the most delicious dessert I’ve ever had. The mashed potatoes?! Oh lord. Creamy with so much flavor. The cocktails were also fantastic (highly recommend the espresso martini for dessert). I love how cozy this spot is as well - the vibe is great for a relaxing dinner out. Service was spectacular, very friendly and easy-going. Make sure to stop in if you’re in the area!

The service was really good, the waitress provided me with her recommendations: because I was a first timer, the food was great loved the ambiance. Super cute bar and walking distance from my hotel. Definitely a gem!

Impromptu stop in for a quick Saturday breakfast, very delighted on the well Curated and simple menu. Definitely try the Nashville hot chicken sliders, the coleslaw, compliments it perfectly with spice and flavor. My server was delightful Will definitely be returning!

Mom and I had a blast at Bud and Marilyn's! We shared the chicken and waffles and the warm pecan cinnamon roll!! They were both delicious. But our waitress was extraordinary!! She was friendly, attentive, considerate and simply amazing!!

Lighting is super dim and the atmosphere is very intimate at least in a dinner setting. Our service was great but I think I liked the sides that came with my Salmon more than the Salmon itself, it’s all just personal preference. We thought it was a full bar but they didn’t have cranberry/orange juices for a regular mixed drink when we asked, but that was fine! Overall enjoyed dinner here.

My first time at Bud and Marilyn’s and I loved it. I definitely think this place is worth the hype. Service was quick and friendly, despite the place being packed. Our food and drinks came out surprisingly quick for how busy the restaurant was. Definitely a well oiled machine here. The ambience is cozy, and we loved the little corner alcove we were seated in by the window! Will definitely come back another time to try more menu items. The hot chicken bun was super spicy though - be warned!

It was pretty crowded when we went and the service was slow. Our plates came out very sporadically and the water refills were space. The compound butter on the French toast was cold and made the French toast soggy, but the toast itself had good flavor. The biscuits and gravy also tasted pretty good. The accompanying potatoes didn't have enough flavor and didn't have the right texture for me. Cinnamon roll was good (I'd give it a 4 out of 5) and all the drinks were good. Cheese curds were a great appetizer and had nice sauce on the side. Overall, I wish I could give them a 3.5 star rating.

Our first time here was for Sunday Brunch, a little pricey but a great meal.

Grabbed a quick late night reservation after realizing the place we intended to eat was no longer serving food at 9:30pm. Service was good, the decor is cute. I had a chicken sausage pasta that the server highly recommended. It was good but I wasn’t super impressed. The Nashville chicken sliders were amazing though!! So many textures and flavors! The chicken was crispy, the brioche perfectly toasted, the slaw pickled to perfection.

If you’re looking for a brunch place in Philly, this is the place to go. I highly recommend their shakshouka and their fried cheese curds. The food is flavorful and is filling. Their service is also great. Their outdoor seating also has heating, which makes it nice when it is chilly outside.

The food here is AMAZING! We ordered the Albacore Tuna Tostadas, Kimchi Fried Rice, Wedge Salad and my friend had the Spicy Chicken. Absolutely AMAZING. I can't wait for my son to come visit from New York so I can bring him here. The cocktails were DELICIOUS. The service EXCELLENT! Thank you!

Not sure how I feel about this restaurant. The vibe here reminds me of 70s punk rock. I thought the menu was very small but everything was executed nicely. We started with the pork lettuce wraps and cheese curds. Both were good. My mother in law ordered the rigatoni pasta and carrot salad which she said was delicious. My daughter really enjoyed her fried chicken which was perfectly cooked and came with 2 scratch made biscuits. My hanger steak was cooked at the desired temperature and very tasty. Food was good, staff is friendly but nothing stood out to make me want to go back.

Fun, kitschy bar and restaurant in the theater district of Philadelphia. We went here before a show at the Academy of Music and had a great experience. The happy hour menu is an amazing value to try some of their more popular offerings. The tempura cheese curds are amazing. A must try, and reservations are available through open table.

Dark but cozy atmosphere. Very nice place to bring a date. The sirloin steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, flavorful and sliced for you. The Marilyn fried chicken was also very good. Cocktail drinks were spot on. The staff was very friendly. We had a great dinner experience on a rainy Friday night.

Great service and atmosphere. Chicken was lacking spice or flavor...seems overrated. Tofu bowl was delicious flavorful crisp tofu and complimentary ingredients matched well. Went for brunch

A few weeks ago, we had planned to go to Bud & Marilyn's for dinner because of the great reviews. When we walked in, we were taken aback by the volume of the restaurant. We left and went to another restaurant because I felt the noise level would take away from our experience. When back in the city, we decided to give it another try, this time for brunch on a Saturday. Surprisingly, it was still pretty loud even though it was crowded but not packed. We had written it off as a place where we would not return. But then our meals arrived. I had the roasted beet Rubin. It was amazing! I have always loved the concept of the Rubin but never having been a pastrami fan, it is not something I ever order. Absolutely delicious combination and fresh to the last bite! Needless to say, we were not disappointed. Service was excellent, food was excellent and we'll be back!

Everyone once in a while...while exploring new places you find a place so good it became a “favorite place”. This was that good!!!! Every aspect from the atmosphere, decor, even the bathrooms(adorable), staff(our waiter was outstanding), and food so amazing every one at the table is coveting each other’s dinner. As our new “favorite place”....we will go out of our way to visit again. Thanks to all!

Service was excellent. And I very much liked the Pork Belly Buns (great slaw on the buns, a lot of flavor and complexity). My disappointment was with the fried chicken. It's B&M signature item and while it was good, I've had far better in places south of the Mason-Dixon line (I'm looking at you Mama J's in Richmond VA). The Chicken wasn't juicy, the skin not crispy, and the breading while flavorful had no crunch. The hot sauce was delicious but the chicken itself should be the star of the show and it fell short. The accompaniment on the plate were all very good, The Biscuits were dense and rich and packed with flavor. And I could have eaten a bucket of the pickle chips.

After about an hour of looking online for a place to eat, I came across this amazing restaurant which just so happened to be down the street from me. It was some of the best food I have had in along time. The whole meal was amazing from my drink to my dessert and everything in between.

We were visiting Philly for one night and looking for some good drinks and healthier food options than just a burger and fries, or pizza at 11PM. The falafel cauliflower was delicious, as well as my salad. The drinks were amazing. The servers were really friendly and attentive. Glad we stopped in. It was also nice of them to not rush is out even though they were past closing. (we didn't realize It was that late! Thank you)

Overall great experience. Very cool, almost Brady Bunch like setting. The server was very sweet and accommodating, considering we also had a 4 & 2 YO with us. Drinks were excellent (recommend the MaiTai Spritz). Cheese curds and Pretzel rolls were delicious as apps. I had the Short Rib Stroganoff and would have it again and twice on Saturday! . My wife and father in Law both had the fried chicken. They said it was some of the tastiest they ever had. The kids even had some and greatly enjoyed it. My brother in law had the Cod. His plate was licked clean...nuff said! The Peanut Butter Bomb dessert was well...THE BOMB! The only Recommendation I have to anyone going to eat there is to bring your appetite.

I've been to this spot twice and neither time have I been dissatisfied. First time I got their smoked beet Ruben. It was to die for! Second time I got the steak which was perfectly cooked as I ordered it. It can get crowded here- but that's only because it's worth it!

We had an early (5:45) reservation this past Saturday. Everything was awesome! Our server was attentive (sorry, I don't remember his name) our cocktails were spot on! The appetizers were delicious! And our dinner was memorable! Oh I almost forgot the Mike high coconut cream pie! So delicious! We will be back!

This place is AMAZING! I savored every bite and every morsel hoping my food experience would never end. If you're in Philly, this is a must visit place. If you live here, I'm jealous.

Had an excellent meal. The meatloaf was delicious and the steak was cooked to our liking. The cheese curds are awesome. Our waiter was very good and gave us a spot for dessert since we were in the mood for a berry pie
Amy Scheffler
We started with the cheese curds which were out of this world! And our main courses were even better! We had the steak rancheros & the lemon ricotta pancakes! Drinks were also delicious, grapefruit mimosa & the Bloody Mary!
Jeanne Ferland-Rogan
We had a group of 5 girls after going to a show. We had a delicious meal. I enjoyed the brick chicken.... mmmmm delicious.. loved all the flavors in the dish. My dirty martini was perfection. Definitely a return in our future.

Came here for Easter brunch with my husband and father and it was amazing!!! Great looking cocktails, and the food was spot on! Good location and great service. The maple bacon is an ABSOLUTE must!!!

Really enjoyed dining at Bud & Marilyn's. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and upon hearing we were seeing a show that evening she ensured our courses came out quickly. We opted for the Restaurant Week menu and were very happy with the selections.

Love this place! The cheese curds and pork belly buns were a great way to start off our dinner. I got the scallops and my fiance had the trout which were perfect. Can't wait to come back and try something new.

What a great spot for Sunday brunch!! I had the shrimp Po boy eggs Benedict...such an amazing medley of flavors!! The blood Mary was outstanding too!! Definitely will be going back when I am back in Philly for the weekend!!

It wasn’t our first choice that day, but it will be in the future. Excellent service, scrumptious menu options, terrific vintage vibe/decor. We will be back on our return to Philadelphia! The lemon ricotta pancakes were so yummy they didn’t need syrup or butter. Reservations needed Sunday mornings fyi- the 4 of us got there at opening & sat at the bar and were happy .

First time we were here and couldn't wait to try the Nashville Hot Chicken Biscuit Sandwich...it DID NOT disappoint. I'd come back just for this sandwich. Spicy, tangy, crispy. Just delicious! My boyfriend had the Chilaquiles Verdes and said if he could only eat one thing for the rest of his life, that'd be it. Needless to say, we loved it. Staff was very attentive as well.
Ken Williamson
Had the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had and the shrimp Po boy Benedict was amazing.

James 'Darryl' Murphy
Let me start by saying, upon arrival one rainy night, I almost didn't stay. But so glad I did! Very cozy w/ a friendly staff. Service was very quick & uniquely detailed. Had the chicken and it was amazingly both crunchy, juicy & flavorful. Even the rosemary garnish was tasty! The Funfetti cake was a slice of heave. I will definitely be back!

Food was awesome. Had the trout and it was delicious. The birthday confetti cake was really good too

Excellent, would go back if in Philly again. I forget the name of what I ordered, eggs with spinach and marinara sauce. Potatoes were slightly too salty for me. Brought back a sticky bun for later. Delish
