I don't even like Mexican food but this place has changed my mind. The food was delicious, my hubby and I are here 3 times over a 2 day period. I would travel back to northern Michigan just to eat at this place again. Besides the tasty food, all of the workers were great. We felt like family. Highly recommend this place!!
Lived in Ca for 40+ years and moved back here 13 yrs ago. Miss authentic Mexican food. Wife is in the hospital so went on the inet looking around and found Jose's. Only thing I wished I had done was ask him to put guacamole in that humongous steak burrito.. Thank you Jose! Delicioso!

Best Mexican food I've had in a while and I love Mexican and eat it often. Definitely authentic and not your typical tex-mex. Small yet comfortable place with really nice staff. Guacamole was amazing and burritos are huge!!
Uncomplicated, great food!
Had dinner with my wife and a friend of ours tonight. Between the three of us we had Chile Relleno, cheese enchiladas, and a taco combination plate. We enjoyed our meal, and will definitely come back. We ordered chips and pico de gallo, it did cost $3.99, but they refilled our chips three time! The food was fresh, and beats anything we've had in Petoskey. If you need a Mexican food fix, give it a shot! Friendly service. A nice family run place.
Jose's is Authentic.. I had the most amazing Chile Relleno here. Taco's are authentic and should be eaten immediately. Guacamole is fresh. This is not for people who like the plastic American Mexican food.
Eat at Joes!. Some people haven't a clue about authentic Mexican food. Having lived in Mexico, I can tell you the tacos are just like you'd get in a Mexico City restaurant, the tamales and guacamole are both amazing, and where else can you get chilaquiles in a 200 mile radius? Those are worth driving here for...they are delicious. The salsa isn't mucked up by over-spicing, it is fresh and crisp. For those who know true Mexican food, in this area, Joses is the place to go.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!. I am so glad we finally have an authentic Mexican restaurant! Every time I eat here I can almost transport myself back to that little restaurant in Zihuatanejo.
Salsa is fabulous!
Homemade chips are awesome!
Tacos are small, so order 3 or 4.
Mexican pizza is good.
Tamales are great too!

Great Food!. This is the place to go for good mexican food. It is all cooked to order, so it is fresh. So many good things...the tacos, the guacamole, the salsa, tamales, burrito, mexican pizza, and the shrimp cocktail...all of my favorites!! The tacos are so simple, but so yummy. They are not loaded down with typical american taco toppings...but they are favorful. Just a corn tortilla, your choice of meat (chicken..my choice), some green (mild) sauce, and cilantro...yum!! The salsa and guacamole are fresh and the best! the burrito could easily be shared by two people, the mexican pizza..flour torttilla with a layer of beans, choice of meat, diced red/yellow bell peppers, diced onion, cliantro, green sauce and some crumbled queso blanco (mexican cheese), and the shrimp cocktail...a generous portion of ice cold shrimp served in a glass of their homemade salsa...amazing!!! Gotta try this place.
Arriba. Great. Perfect authentic tacos (though they are much smaller than "American" tacos so order more if you're hungry), huge portions for the price, nice family, good selection. One of the best restaurants in town.
Always Tasty, and Super Delicious. My wife and I have been going here for 10 years, and it has always been a favorite. 😀 If you are in Petoskey, stop in and try it for yourself. We now live almost 2 hrs away, and it's worth the drive.
Authentic Mexican food at a family owned and operated restaurant. The tacos were delicious and the meal size was perfect for lunch (may be a little small for dinner). Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful
Couldn't be happier with our experience, the owners are super friendly, we sat down and before you knew it she was bringing us our food. My tacos hit the spot and the chicken quesadilla was just right. We will be returning and would recommend if you are in the downtown area of petoskey you stop in and grab a bite.
First time eating here today with my family and Whoa! The food was absolutely delicious and the price just right. VERY kind and super friendly worker (José and Denise?) We were all super impressed and full as well! Will be back!

Only got rice and beans, but both were very good. It's kinda how I rate. I start with the basics rice, beans, and salsa/chips. If they are not good, I don't bother with the rest. I drove up from Detroit for business and can't wait to try the enchiladas. Enchiladas are all about the sauce. I hear good things, but the owners say try the burritos.

I’ve traveled in an RV since 2019, all over the USA from FL. It’s my mission everywhere I stop to find the best Mexican place. I was quite worried mi tequila was the only place to get some authentic Mexican but after meeting Jose and eating at his restaurant, I’ve remembered what it was all about. I love this food because it’s more than a meal, it’s about family and spending time together. Wonderful food, little patio, and Jose and company were all so wonderful to be around!
Joses Authentic Mexican is just that. Both authentic and Mexican. Jose could not be more attentive or caring. Had the salad for lunch that was fantastic. Instead of bland iceberg lettuce, the salad had a variety of greens to boost flavor and nutritional value. The pico de gallo tasted great and chips seemed home made. Fantastic food and even better service.
Food wasn't bad but not impressed. The prices are great for kids however the adult food feels over priced.
The beef taco is super small. You may need a few to feed your kids.
The quesadillas are a decent size for kids and use mozeralla cheese.
The fajitas are mostly meat. Most would love that but I like some more pepeprs with mine
Store is clean and seems popular since it was very busy on a Wednesday afternoon.
The tamales were on point. Very good.
I'm assuming the owners are the two people who took our order, made the food, etc. Nicest people ever! Food was pretty good, too. We dined in. They took the order at the counter, then directed us to grab a table, and then they brought our food to us. Once done, you go back to the counter to pay. Everything is cooked to order. Yum!
