We are visiting the area on our vacation and randomly selected City Park Grill to celebrate Father's Day. What an excellent choice our family made! The restaurant's interior was very cool, old Victorian (and original). Our server, Diana, was beyond superb. The food was fantastic. Our party of 10, including 4 kids, was accommodated with ease. We were greeted with friendly smiles whether it was the hostess, Diana, the biscuit master, the water girl, or any other person supporting the wait staff. We hope to dine here again before we all head back home. I highly recommend City Park Grill!!
The atmosphere is very unique to a lakeside town like Petoskey. The food was excellent! Even something as simple as a club sandwich tasted like a gourmet treat. And our waitress? Kristen was so welcoming and friendly she made it seem like we were old friends. When we make it back out that way we will definitely be back!
Great experience. The bread they serve for free at the beginning of the meal is so delicious. Like, I might come-here-just-for-that-yummy. Like, ask for more - serval times good. The fries are well seasoned. The rest of the food is great. They have a steak meal for kids!!! Great place to eat.
Cannot say enough good things about the City Park Grill restaurant!! Stopped in for lunch while visiting downtown Petoskey. Had to wait about a half hour to be seated on a Saturday. Still maintains that nostalgic feel and the atmospher was incredible. Service was friendly and outgoing. The food was incredible!! We started with the crab artichoke dip and main couses of french onion soup, Ruben, steak sandwich and Chicago burger. Highly recommend the City Park Grill and can't wait to return!
Had a large party and they were able to accommodate us. There is outside seating. The menu was unique and everything was very tasteful. They had gluten free options. The wait staff was very nice and joked around as well. Nothing was missed and everything was prompt. Had the filet and it was cooked to perfection
Best gumbo hot not too spicy huge hamburger awesome inside environment and neat history with earnest Hemingway .. they even came around offering these yummy sweet biscuits through your meal what a surprise !! Check online for the most current menu though I was hoping for the shrimp and grits posted by another reviewer and that was only served for one special week. :)
The building was constructed in 1875 (and it shows.) It was originally called McCarty Hall a males only billards parlor. In 1888 it was renamed the Annex. Ernest Hemingway had a summer home in upper (lower) Michigan from 1910 through the 1920s. He frequented the Annex and used to sit at the bar, 2nd seat from the end and jot down story ideas. We went on a Friday night just before 9:00pm so we could stay for Karaoke at 9:30pm. Cheese Biscuits and Capresse Grilled Cheese are fantastic. The only thing that I couldn't score perfect on was the service. We arrived and were the only ones waiting to be seated for nearly 15 minutes before someone noticed us. Once seated, another 15 minutes went by before someone came to our table the first time. Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience.
Service was great. Awesome owners and family. Prices are good for downtown. Their biscuits they bring out are awesome. I had their 5 cheese penne pasta and my brother had their fried perch. The pasta was good but the cheese sauce wasn't great. Very runny, almost soupy as you will see in the picture. I would like to come back again and try something else on the menu when it's not Friday during Lent. Every other experience I've had great food and my wife loves their food. Looking forward to coming back and trying something new.
This place has great food. It’s a bit of a splurge but worth it. The Reuben sandwich was very good.
Great food, super service! Biscuits were great and fresh from the oven, folks wk around offering g fresh ones constantly. Very good!
Love the look inside, gorgeous bar. Dinner options are superb! The filet is delicious as well as the applebutter pork loin. The fresh, hot biscuits are tasty as well. We went another day to split a sandwich for lunch & we were not impressed with the club sandwich, especially for the cost. We also tried dessert & the chocolate cake was very dry. We were glad we added a scoop of ice cream however it still wasn't great. We would definitely go back & stick with dinner choices!
This was our first visit and the two of us arrived close to 5 pm on a Wednesday. Fortunately, we only had a ten-minute wait for a table. Our server, Gavin, was pleasant and efficient. We both ordered seafood and it was amazingly fresh. My husband had the battered perch and I had the grilled salmon. The portions were large and delicious! The atmosphere was quite lively and the decor was incredible. You could feel the history! By the time we left, the wait to get in was over 40 minutes. We would definitely go again. PS: the free biscuits are a treat!
