Backwoods Bbq

Thought I would drop in this afternoon for a bite to eat, since I continue to hear good things about this restaurant under a huge billboard. Outside of the restaurant isn't much to look at, but the inside is warm and inviting. clean, crisp and nicely decorated. There were very few customers inside when I arrived, but by the time I left about 5:30 it was standing room only. They also do one heck of a takeout business. The bar inside is very small. Didn't see anyone sitting there drinking the whole time I was there. The Bistro is known for its humongous tenderloin sandwich and is the special on Tuesday. I chose the Ruben sandwich and homemade fries. My meal came out promptly.Huge stack of fries that failed to eat all of. My sandwich was just so so in my opinion. The corned beef and kraut was chopped so small I couldn't keep it from falling out from between the slices of bread. The meat tasted a little greasy to me. Overall it was ok. I was able to see two tenderloin sandwiches that two ladies ordered. They were indeed monstrous! Can't say what they tasted like though. One could feed four people with one sandwich. I intend on coming back on a Tuesday and order one and have leftovers for a few days. The price would be worth it for that many meals. I also want to try their bread pudding, but not with a meal. I suggest you give them a try and support a local popular business.

Ordered to go, the tenderloin was fantastic! Everything else thumbs down!! Missed the “boneless” on the menu my fault was looking at the sauces.. which I don’t really mind them but they were burnt and then the thick breading was soggy! Wished I would have gotten the sauce on the side.. I love onion rings especially a good beer batter but these were a thick heavy pasty breading!! Big thumbs down!! Didn’t realize order came with fries which was a pleasant surprise but they were way over cooked, almost like they put them back in the fryer to heat them up, yet they were cold and hard and way over cooked!! I would maybe dine in and try a burger or do the tenderloin again but none of the other stuff we had this time around!! Disappointed since it was our 1st time trying and the pictures all looked great!!

Amazing service, incredible food, and a surprisingly lovely atmosphere. Their fried green beans are hands down the best I’ve ever had. The green beans themselves tasted fresh and snappy like they should, and the breading on them was perfect! I am vegetarian so I asked what menu options they could offer meat-free. They offered a “veggie skillet” which was over-the-top in terms of portion size, sides, and AMAZING flavor!!! I was so pleasantly surprised and got 2 full servings out of that one entree. Highly recommend the white cheese sauce. Will be returning soon!!

Food was phenomenal and the owners are so nice. We had the tenderloin and the potato bombs they were both delicious we'll definitely be going back to try more items on the menu. Everyone go help out this small business and keep them in business. Amazing food amazing owners and cute little space give them a try you won't be disappointed.

This was our first time and won't be the last. My family was in town from Chicago and decided to make this our first stop since covid started. The chicken horseshoe was amazing and I can't wait to try the tenderloin horseshoe next time. My inlaws had the tenderloin and said it was the best they have ever had. We also enjoyed the cheese cubes and breaded mushrooms. They were also amazing. I will recommend the billboard bistro to everyone. I was also able to meet the owners and found them to be so nice and they made us feel like family.

Really, really good food! I HIGHLY recommend the Giant tenderloin. It's comes exactly as advertised. I can eat that meal 3 times with three buns and for me, as a person who likes his tenderloins a bit thinner as opposed to thick this one is made perfect for my tastes. My favorite one in the entire peoria area. Also noticed while we were there that every table that was full, at least one person from each table also ordered the tenderloin. We called ahead as we like to do a family dinner on Wednesdays and she said they were short staffed and we said okay we can come back another time and she assured us it wouldn't be a problem for them. So they were very accommodating. Which is tough in these modern times for us to get a table together for a family dinner but they Did great. Our waitress was amazing, she was pretty much the only one they had or maybe she was the owner but I'll tell ya this, Noone had to wait too long, everything came exactly as ordered and she ran that dining room like a pro. We tipped very well. We are already planning our next trip back, the question will really be how can I not order the tenderloin again, it was just so damn good. Easy 5 out of 5 stars and a wonderful new discovery for us! Every single one of us loved our food, the place, the service, everything! It was perfection, especially since I had been craving a good tenderloin. I was excited all day to go for dinner and it exceeded my expectations in every single way.
