We stopped by around 5pm on Saturday and the place was pretty empty.
The wife and I both ordered the special “Buffalo chicken pub Mac and cheese” we were both extremely happy. Big bowl of pasta with diced chicken, topped with a cheese sauce and crispy bacon with a moat green chili around the edge. A lot going on in that bowl but really well balanced and delicious.
Staff was really nice and even ran my credit card to the parking lot when I forgot it. So, obviously honest, hard working folks who take care of their customers.
This was our second visit and won’t be our last. Great meal
Did a takeout order and got the pretzel 🥨 appetizer w/ cheese and the buffalo chicken Mac . Both were very good! The pretzels are soft and big and the buffalo Mac was really good! Chicken was seasoned well and the Mac was creamy and the bacon added a nice crunch and flavor to it! I will be back to try more items off the menu!
I got the angry bird grits bowl and I have to say, delicious! It was quite hearty and filling. I walked out very full. The grits were creamy and enough cheese. I was also able to try the Mac wild West bowl. Also tasty but would have loved a big 10oz steak to go with it. Small eating area area but cozy. Will definitely be back for other items.
Update -11/2/23 it's been a few years since I've been here. Glad it's still here. Got the smothered breakfast burrito for dinner. Breakfast is still served for lunch and dinner. Delicious would recommend.
The green chili cheese fries are amazing. I love the spicy flavor. The service and the food has never been disappointing.

Anyone craving real green chili? We stumbled upon True Grit American Bistro today. Get the green chili burger, it’s wrapped in a tortilla! Fries were good too. And we scarfed down the bread pudding before we remembered to take a picture. We’ll worth spending your money at a new local business. Say hi to the owners, they are very nice. I hear you can buy the chili by the pint. We will be back.
Reason for 4 stars on food is the green chili is so good but wife got the Philly and the meat was too dry.
Tried the green chili cheese fries and had plenty to share with everyone! They were fresh and loaded with toppings and the ranch is phenomenal- if you’re a ranch fan- it’s some of the best ever. Ordered kid’s chicken tenders for my son and it was more than enough for us all to nibble on, too. Delicious. They have a lot of specials and deals, there was even live music the night we went. Lots of fun and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!
Am I the last person to try avocado toast? 🥑 I saw it on the menu at True Grit and decided to try it.
But first, let me start out by saying that I had never been to True Grit and I wasn't sure what to expect. And then I tried their avocado toast 😋 I tried Chipotle with cotija cheese, pico and chipotle crema, Greek with feta, bruschetta and a balsamic glaze and one with a medium cooked egg on it. They were beautiful to look at and really delicious. The Chipotle was my favorite of the 3. I also ordered a side of smoked sausage, yum! They have bottomless mimosas on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday also. The menu has something for everyone and they won awards for their burgers. I love the atmosphere, they really respect our Service members and veterans, it's really nice to see. Service is top notch as well, I had a wonderful time there. Definitely a treat, you must go.
A WONDERFUL CHOICE if you want late breakfast!!! I read the reviews and I was interested. Small space restaurant. Limited seating. The chairs have no cushioning and I think I heard from someone about hemorrhoids, lol. Anyways, I ordered the food and waited approximately 24 minutes before I got my food.
If you ever said to yourself, "the food better be good for this long wait", then you won't be disappointed for sure. I ordered the breakfast tacos. Those tacos were awesome and very tasty. The hash browns were cooked from scratch because of the rich potato taste. The flour for the huevos rancheros is not that great so request corn tortillas. The server was great and courteous to keep our drinks filled during the wait. If I'm ever back in town, I'll drop in again
Delicious!! Super cute little shop, service was excellent, and food arrived fast. Tea is super sweet (like the good Lord intended). Definitely worth a visit. We appreciate the military discount, and they had a good variety of eats on the menu. We tried the grit balls and pork tacos. The portions were large, so we couldn’t finish it all!
