La Cocina's is my favorite restaurant in Penn Yan. I've almost tried everything on the menu and each dish is excellent. Very friendly and attentive staff. There is nothing better than feeling like your part of the family and this restaurant is literally in the middle of town. Great birthdays, anniversaries dinners as well. They also have a private area on a second floor with a bar and live band!!! You can't go wrong.

Terrific place. Delicious food. Good service. Owner is amazing. Try the tostados.

Very polite and attentive. We were a large party and they seated us quickly. They brought out a free cheese enchiladas appetizer when another large party's food was in front of ours. The only two drawbacks were the chips (though the salsa was good), and the mole sauce on the enchiladas was unexpected. Other than that, it was a place we'd be happy to return to again.

Great little hidden gem of a restaurant! Cute little dining area on the front porch which is a fun little spin. The carnitas are great as were the enchiladas banderas! Definitely not cookie cutter, everyday Mexican food. Even the chips and salsa had their own unique flavor to them. Very friendly staff as well!

The food was very good and wait staff quite friendly. We were there at a very busy time and our server was quire busy but she took the time to offer us more drinks and chips while we waited. She assured us our dinners would be coming soon and that was much appreciated.

I have been with La Cocina for 8 years , we have grown quite a remarkable amount. We strive for the best and make things fresh from the start! The beans are made in house and we go through them quickly, as well as the rice. All sauces are homeade and chips and salsa are given at no charge to the dine in tables downstairs .
It is one of the busiest restaurant in town and is quite small in size so it is wise to do a call ahead seating to check what’s available.
Small town atmosphere and pricing .
Super busy in the summer and since all things are made to order, it can take a normal dinner hour for food. On top of whatever wait we are on.
Please be patient and enjoy a beverage or app upstairs while you wait.

This was our second visit. We went on a Friday afternoon to beat the crowd. It was just as fantastic this time. The margaritas are so good! I had the enchiladas banderas with rice and refried beans. My husband had the fish tacos, a Friday special. Both of us enjoyed the just right heat and the just made fresh taste of each of our dishes. Yum! The owner Don was very welcoming and friendly and gave us a tour of the upstairs cozy area for overflow guests. We are planning on returning to enjoy the fireplace and bar area upstairs. We noticed the blender behind the bar ready to make my next margarita! Great job. New favorite!

Went here with my girlfriend, phenomenal place. Authentic mexican food and the interior is definitely a stand out. Definitely a unique place. The Flautas were excellent and so was the Southwest Burger. Staff was outstanding, we appreciated that all the staff asked us how our meal was and how were were doing. 5 out of 5.

Very good! A lot of small town Mexican restaurants go the Taco Bell route---greasy food with a lot of cheese dumped on top to hide the lack of flavor. After all, you're in a small town with not much choice in Mexican food, so who's going to know the difference? Thank the Mexican deities for places like La Cocina that provide good, tasty Mexican food to the small town masses!
